The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

The county conducted a traffic study to inform any decisions regarding traffic calming devices along SE 9th AVE.  The results follow:

SE 9 Avenue approximately 140 feet north of SE 6 Street:

BCTED collected the data for a consecutive 24-hour period commencing October 1, 2019.

  • Northbound – 281 vehicles per day (VPD) with an average speed of 22 miles per hour (MPH) and an 85th percentile speed of 28 MPH.
  • Southbound – 487 VPD with an average speed of 23 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 28 MPH

 

SE 9 Avenue approximately 140 feet north of SE 7 Street:

BCTED collected the data for a consecutive 24-hour period commencing October 1, 2019.

  • Northbound – 553 VPD with an average speed of 20 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 25 MPH.
  • Southbound – 556 VPD with an average speed of 21 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 26 MPH.

SE 9 Avenue approximately 130 feet north of SE 9 Street:

BCTED collected the data for a consecutive 24-hour period commencing October 2, 2019.

  • Northbound – 517 VPD with an average speed of 21 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 30 MPH.
  • Southbound – 832 VPD with an average speed of 17 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 28 MPH.

SE 9 Avenue approximately 140 feet south of SE 9 Street:

BCTED collected the data for a consecutive 24-hour period commencing October 1, 2019.

  • Northbound – 461 VPD with an average speed of 13 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 21 MPH.
  • Southbound – 1079 VPD with an average speed of 14 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 23 MPH.

SE 9 Avenue approximately 130 feet north of SE 11 Court:

BCTED collected the data for a consecutive 24-hour period commencing October 1, 2019.

  • Northbound – 273 VPD with an average speed of 25 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 31 MPH.
  • Southbound – 1457 VPD with an average speed of 24 MPH and an 85th percentile speed of 32 MPH.
