The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

OFFICER REPORTS:

A. PRESIDENT: None

B. VICE-PRESIDENT: None

C. SECRETARY:  No report.

E. COUNCIL REP:  No Report

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

A. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS:  No report

B. MEMBERSHIP/WELCOME:  no report

C. NEWSLETTER:  No report

D. PARKS:  No report

E. SECURITY: New contract will raise rates slightly.  Proposed detail rules will not impact us.  Gerry Weber talked with Mayor and Council Members to ensure neighborhood patrols will not be impacted.  We need to highlight more items from the log on the value of the patrol.

F. SOCIAL: Next year’s holiday party at Stranahan House?  Nancy to follow-up with Joanne.  Campout was a big success, Ted might want to organize an antique car show.

OLD BUSINESS:

A. November Minutes approved, moved by Shirley, seconded by Nancy, unanimous.

B. Auto Decals – We ordered additional ones and they are available from Mark.

C. Storage Unit – Nancy is down to only two bins so we haven’t pursued it.

D. Holiday Party: All regular business suspended.  Board met as Holiday party planning committee to finalize details.

NEW BUSINESS:

A. Super Bowl – Nothing for us to do.

B. Movies in the Park – We will plan some for the summer.

C. Riverwalk Run – We will put up the banner and have put an article in the paper for anyone that wants to enter.

D. St. Patrick’s Day – City planning a parade.

E. Annual Meeting – We should plan it for April so we can get it into the next newsletter.
