0745 – 10-8,. There was a new text message for an out of town check and I added it to the log. I also moved several past checks away from the current checks log. After reviewing the activity log I noticed that the motorcyclist is still speeding at night. I will spend time in that area today, but the best chance to catch him is at night.
0800 – Roving patrols.
1000 – Vacation checks are completed, everything appears to be secure. I placed a few flyers in mail boxes and news papers in back yards to keep the appearance that the home was not vacant.
1030 – Continued presence in the 700 block/N Rio Vista area.
1100 – Business and park checks. Final rounds.
1120 – I received phone call about the speeder/motorcyclist. I was already in the area and observed him riding his motorcycle at the proper speed. He followed all the laws and did not run the stop sign.

0745 – 10-8, No new voicemails. There was one new text for an added vacation check. Early morning patrol for construction noise, parking violations, and fishermen on the isles. All was quiet.
0830 – Roving patrols in the rain. After the skies cleared up, vacation checks were completed.
1615 10-8, no messages
1620 Resoponded to alarm at 1215 SE 6 St. All secure.
1710 Call of vagrant walking in road with cart near 11th/cordova. Contacted the individual who was looking for the beach. Proper directions given.
1740 Car check engine light came on and engine sputtering. Took vehicle to garage (also to have Krystle’s dent fixed).

0745 – 10-8, Picked up computer/keys at the station and called in the detail. No new text messages or voicemails.
0800 – Began patrolling and completed vacation checks. I checked two fishermen on SE 7th Street’s bridge for their fishing licenses. All was 10-4.
0900 – Drove by parks and businesses. Roving patrols.
1000 – More roving patrols.
1100 – Final Rounds.
1145 – Returned to station and updated log. 10-7.

0745 – Call was a repeat complaint about the reckless motorcyclist on N Rio. She realized that her husband had already called, but we ended up talking at length about it. She will call non-emergency next time she sees him, but wants to remain anonymous.

1000 – Vacation checks were completed. I added a new vacation check to the list. I also delivered a new sign.

0530 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There were no new voicemails or texts. I reviewed the activity log.
0600 I conducted early morning sweep of the business district along S. Federal Hwy., no unusual activity to report.
0640 Patrolled Rio mainland and parks, to include the 11 Ct alley way.
0800 Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0815 Indicator lights on dash acting up again.
0845 Remained visible mainland.
0900 Received text for new 7 new signs. They have been distributed

0740 10-8, Called in detail. No new messages. (2) Missed calls from late night. I returned the call later in the morning and was advised about a male motorcyclist driving on N Rio with a child on the motorcycle at about 11:30 PM last night. The caller was unsure about the address of the motorist but advised he was a strange person who often causes issues on his motorcycle.
0750 Early morning check of the isles. No fisherman this morning. I noted the stop sign at SE 9 Street and Cordova on the bridge is rather bent over. I advised Broward Traffic Engineering. (954-831-3282)
0800 Patrolled Rio and helped with the Loco Rio 8k run through the mainland. Loco Rio is a running group that meets regularly at Francis Abreu Place.
0850 Back to regular patrols.
858 Warning to wrong way driver on SE 9th Avenue. I checked the LYC.
0945 I wrote two parking citations on the 1100 block of SE 6th Terrace for vehicles completely blocking the sidewalk.
1030 Completed vacation checks.
1045 I received phone call resident. She requested an extra watch on her house because their son’s vehicle was stolen 2/23 and recovered 2/24 from Pinecrest HS. We caught the culprits on District 2 evenings, but never recovered the house key or garage door opener; please keep an extra watch until Tuesday the 28th when the locksmith can change all the locks. Drive by checks only, people will be home at times.
1115 Traffic Engineering is already out fixing the stop sign at SE 9th Street and Cordova.

2040 Flagged down by resident concerned because lights didn’t activate in the front house and he heard alarm system beeping. I checked the front residence which was secure. Owners are out of town. While checking neighbor explained that power was out in 6 houses. That explains the alarm beeping. All 10-4

1000 Returning missed calls:
(1) from Rio resident. Upon returning her call, she had a complaint about a loud motorcyclist neighbor, but did not want to report anything further. She asked that we keep an extra eye out for speeders on N Rio.
(2) , in reference to about 20 bicyclists obstructing traffic on US 1and 7 Street. He did not wish to report further, he was just trying to give us a heads up at the time.
I also called Public Works about SE 6 Court and SE 9 Avenue for resident
1020 I made stops throughout the N Rio stretch to keep an eye out for speeders. I slowed one motorcyclist down within 10 minutes.
1100 All vacation property checks completed. Continue patrolling business district, isles, and mainland in circles.

1515 10-8, detail called in to Carol. One message on detail phone regarding vehicle traffic along a dirt path on the north side of the cemetery, apparently someone vandalized a road closure barrier. Reviewed the log and began patrol.
1520 I checked the path noted above and did not see a damaged road barrier. I called the reporter who met me and to her surprise, Public Works had already repaired the barrier.
1638 Message regarding out of town check came into detail phone. I added it to the log.
1805 Unlicensed fishermen from Ohio chased from SE 10 St Bridge. They were told how to get a Florida fishing license.
1814 Dispatched to a report of a loud, speeding motorcycle on NRV, east of the tunnel. Upon arrival no motorcycle was seen or heard. I called the reporter and she advised someone in the area must have recently purchased a motorcycle as the situation has been occurring the past few weeks. This is likely the same motorcycle as noted above in Officer Pence’s entry at 1000 hours. 17-23791

1020 While checking the isles, I noticed the garage door was stuck open at home with no cars in the driveway. I knocked on the door and the cleaning lady advised all was 10-4. She shut the garage.
1030 I added new vacation check to log.
1100 Completed property checks and stopped to speak with concerned citizens.
1305 Final rounds, roving patrols throughout Rio.
1710 Checked on parked vehicle complaint from N. Rio. Car legally parked in the swale and registered to the apartments. I advised her of the same.
1800 Patrols with overheads on
1910 Traffic stop for red light on SE 9 St. It was a delivery driver with a warning given.
2140 Bolo for traffic complaint - Hyundai with no lights driving recklessly GOA
2145 Located the car on SE 11 Ct. Turned out to be a Publix driver and she claimed she was being chased by a Rio resident who questioned why she was in Rio Vista. She claimed she turned off the lights and attempted to pull into a house to hide. She was a legitimate delivery person and had also called 911. It was reported to be a Rio resident in black Ranger Rover no tag information.

0545 Early patrol of Cordova, observed a W/M walking along Cordova and 12 St with a small cart. Contact was made with the individual who was walking around as he waited for his Uber ride which arrived momentarily.

0700 Began and completed the out of town house checks, all appear to be secure.
0736 I received a call from a concerned member in reference to a van/occupant that may be camping out overnight in the rear alley way. Upon my immediate arrival the van was GOA. A message was left with the member advising the outcome. Please conduct checks of the alley way during shift.
0810 Flagged down by Rio resident who had several questions in reference to PBA solicitors. Information, answers, and suggestions provided.
0820 Patrol of business district along S. Fed, Rio mainland, and parks.
0845 Patrol of Isles, bridges, Hemingway, and LYC.

1500 1 – Resident called about a B/M walking in the neighborhood checking door handles as he was walking through. She stated she would call the FLPD 911 line since no officers were on duty at the time of her call.

1630 Picked up new membership sticker distribution list at FLPD from Captain Scelfo
1715 Flagged down by resident who had questions about joining the security patrol

0715 10-8, I called in the detail and left a message with my hours. No new messages
0730 I began patrolling and checking for construction zone noise ordinance violators. None were located.
0800 Patrolled business district.
0845 All of the out-of-town homes appear secure.
0941 Received a phone call from the resident. She stated her vehicle (which is with her at work) had been burglarized on Saturday evening. No forced entry was observed, but she noticed pair of sunglasses was missing from the front seat. She did not wish to make a report at this time and stated she would call back later if she decided to make a report. She noted she had made a prior burglary report for a separate incident.
0955 Received a phone call from a Rio resident requesting that I speak with her new neighbors about parking their vehicles over the sidewalk. I stopped by, said hi, and welcomed them to the neighborhood.
1040 Final rounds. No ATVs in Rio!
1215 Stopped taxi for one way violation. He was taking a couple from the airport to the Bahia Mar and had no explanation for why he was up this way. He was made to reset the meter and take them to their destination.
1400 Added new check to vacation log.
1545 Checked Yacht Club
1720 Checked on vehicle stopped at SE 9 Ave/ SE 9 Street apparently not moving. As I pulled up, I watched a teen boy attempting to learn to drive his fathers manual Porsche with the dad giving encouraging instructions. I drove away as I watched the car make a very jerky start before stalling out. More gas, son, more gas.
2030 Call regarding suspicious small loud grey vehicle driving slowly in the area 5 minutes ago. I checked the area, nothing found

Began roving patrol and observed a W/M on a bicycle and a backpack riding around the area. I stopped out with the male who was from Pennsylvania and lived on SW 5 Ave. He advised that he likes to do his evening ride in the Rio area. No warrants were located.
2244 I received a call from resident requesting extra patrol on her street because her husband was out of town and she felt a little nervous. I told her that I would stop through her street but I did have to patrol the whole of Rio Vista.
2300 LYC Hemmingway and parks all clear, drove through on Ponce, roving patrols
0020 Dispatched call of a suspicious vehicle (White Honda Accord) driving around the Yacht Club area. The address of SE 17 St and Cordova was given. I circulated the area and the shift sergeant located the vehicle parked in a residential driveway. All was clear
