The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

                        Flagged down on se 10TH ST from a ride share that needed directions through                              the detours. I took her to the Isles

0800                Once sun came up, began vacation checks

0900                Last rounds of roving patrol

1900: In service. Detail called into Hudson line. There are no new text messages but, one email 

and one missed phone call. Out of town check added to log and returned phone call; no answer on callback and unable to leave voicemail because box was full. Reviewed activity log and began high visibility roving patrol with cruise/alley lights on.

2000: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, BCS, LYC, Fed Hwy, Smoker Park, and Parks - lots of 

pedestrians / bicyclists / joggers out and about.

2100: Still roving, all secure. 

2200: Still roving, all quiet. 

2300: Out of service.

Monday 3/23/20

1700, immediately got a call from resident regarding follow-up from an incident muccino handled on Friday. Apparently the white male had just knocked on their door again. I located the male. He advised he had returned to retrieve his jon boat and trolling motor. I called back the reportee who advised the subject could return in an hour and pick up his motor from their dock.

Messages from. Returned call.  advised that she heard banging last night and was afraid as she is going through a divorce. The ex has not made any threats but she would like extra Patrol.

Returned call to resident.  Resident advised she is not currently staying on the property, but her housekeeper discovered a homeless male sleeping on the back porch this morning. She would like us to check the house.

1830 returned to above since subject came over for his boat motor.  Stood by while they discussed how the motor would be returned.

2000 Traffic stop for vehicle driving aggressively down n. Rio vista.  Local youth.  Warning given.

2115 checked rear of above for vagrant. All clear.

Tuesday March 24th, 2020 

1815: In service. 1 email for sign request, no new text messages, EIGHT missed phone calls. 

1900: Sign delivered to new member, out of town checks complete. 

1920: Flagged down by resident inquiring about police activity near her home 

around 0300 the previous night - was advised it was in reference to the security guards car catching fire - car was burnt crisp, case # 20-051322.

1930: Noise disturbance. Resident advised of noise from home at 

different times. Advised she could call the on-duty Rio officer for future disturbances, the non-emergency PD number, and explained the noise disturbance ordinances (i.e. decibel levels, willing to prosecute, etc) - very appreciative of our response, no report: 20-052170. Began returning the eight missed calls.

2000: Missed calls detailed: 

1.     3:03a: Garage left open - patrol handled, all ok. 20-051814 

2.     10:58a/11:01a/11:13a: Parking complaint - construction vehicles blocking her driveway and the bridge. Advised to phone Rio patrol / non-emergency for enforcement as well as HOA board. 

3.     11:18a - No answer on callback, voicemail left. 

4.     12:39p/2:46p/3:08p: Telemarketer calls. 

2030: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy with cruise & alley lights on. 

            Lots of pedestrians and bicyclists out and about. 

2115: Out of service.

1945- Called into the Hudson line. Began patrolling the neighborhod. The evening was quiet and the peace was pleasant . Very enjoyable evening.

2045- continued patrolling the corridors. Very quiet 

2245-Cominuing the patrolling. Received a call regarding loud music and noise complaints from Fremantle. Responded and spoke to resident who was renting the home. Advised to turn down the music and mov.

2345-Continued for the day. Received another complaint from resident who stayed that the music and crowd has gotten louder 

0045- checked the Fed corridor and all was very quiet due to the rain. 

0145- continued the patrol. Very quiet evening

Tuesday, March 10th 2020

0700                10-8 called in detail; 1 missed called regarding homeeless setting up camp by

0900                Roving patrol on Isles

1500-called into Hudson line and was entered by Ms. carol. Began patrol. Responded to check up on the residence and the party from last nite. There were only 3 vehicles parked and appeared to be calmed down. 

1600- continued routine patrol in and around the corridor. 

1700- checked the Fed corridor and surrounding thoroughfares. Nothing suspicious to report. 

1800- out of service. 

1800: In service. Detail called into Hudson line and reviewed activity log. Two emails and no 

new messages or missed phone calls. New sign delivered per email request. 

Began roving patrol. 

1900: High visibility patrols of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy corridor, and Smoker 

park with cruise and alley lights on. 

1918: Responded to an elderly male that was not conscious, not 

breathing. Subject deceased on arrival, patrol handled 20-043785

2000: Still roving. 

2115: Out of service.

0545- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails.

0630- Patrol of the business district along South Fed.

0730- Flagged down is concerned about the temporary stop signs placed at 7St/11Av. After discussing the safety concerns he agreed it was a good idea, but he may receive resistance from the members of the association. For now all good.

0830- Patrol of the LYC, bridges, and isles. Many residents out for morning exercise.

1030- House checks complete, all appear to be secure.

1700    10-8, new message for vacation check added to log.  Message left of suspicious male with a shopping cart from earlier today.  Advised BOLO

1800    Completed vacation checks

1830    Call of suspicious male with shopping cart again.  Contacted homeless male near 12st/ Cordova.  Advised he was collecting items to resell.  Advised him no solicitation without permit and advised caller.

Tuesday February 25th, 2020

1745: In service, detail called into Hudson line. Two missed calls requesting traffic assistance on 

9th ST about trucks blocking the parents picking up their children from BCS. No missed 

mails or text messages. Reviewed activity log and began out of town checks. 

1915: Out of town checks complete, begin roving patrol. 

2015: Monitored temporary stop signs at 11th / 7th ST - stop signs are not reflective which is 

why motorists can not see them. I put out LED road flares to draw attention to the signs. Monitored for over an hour and everyone stopped as they should have. Spoke with several residents that were appreciative of our efforts but, advised that in the daytime between 0700-0800 is when most people are speeding through the area. 

2115: Out of service.

1800- called into the Hudson line. Began patrolling the corridors. Very busy with homeowners. 

1900- Continued high visibility along all the corridors 

2000- checked LYC and all was clear. Checked all roads and all was quiet 

2030- HOA car caught a flat and Westway was Summoned.

2300- continuing the corridor patrol very little pedestrian traffic 

0000- Continued the eve by patrol the fed corridor and Rio roads. 

0100- continued patrolling the neighborhood and brought vehicle to its parked position. 

0200- end of service

                        Roving patrols. Streets of RIO VISTA very busy. Bulk pick up, crew fixing pipes. New water main break at 11th and Cordova.

1645: In service, detail called into Carol. Added and updated the out of town check log. 

Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1730: Monitored SE 9th Ave / SE 7th St for stop sign violations. No violations observed - back 

to roving. 

1830: Film production in the 900 blk of SE 6th CT. Heavy construction in 1100 blk of Cordova, 

road completely blocked by City Works repairing the roadway.

1900: High visibility roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, Fed Hwy, and LYC.  

1945: Out of service.

0030-   observed 4 people on scooters at Cordova and 9 St, spoke briefly with them, stated they were just riding around looking at houses, i explained the issue with being in the area this late doing nothing and they decided to take an uber back to las olas,

                        Traffic stop conducted at SE 7th st and Fed ref construction vehicle failing to stop                        at the stop sign. Driver issued 1 warning and 1 citation
