The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1930- Started off by checking the fishing complaint on SE 10 st. I think the presence Hs helped. None of the regular observed 

2030- Continued checking the neighborhood. No one fishing on bridges. Checked LYC. Very quiet. 

2130- monitored the federal highway corridor. Very quiet 

2230- continued roving the streets and main corridor. Very quiet.

0650-   in service, detail called in, 1 new check already added, starting patrol, 

0830-   completed checks on the isles, responded to residence reference package theft. Report 34-122421

1050-   out of service

1730    10-8, message from resident advising her mom  would  be there today in a white mercedes.  Said hello to the mom as she was pulling out of the drive.  

1930    Checked Yacht club parking area

2130    Dispatched call to area of SE 11st/ 13 ter reference dodge charger with blacked out plate running stop signs.  Left message for reportee, unable to locate

2200    Extra attention on SE 11 Ct

2220    Reportee from above called me back.  Vehicle was making the loop from 9 cordova around to 11 cordova.  It is bulk trash night, so that's a possibility.  Advised I would continue looking for the vehicle.  

2250    Checked end of SE 10 st.  No one out

2330    10-7

Tuesday August 11th, 2020

1845: In service, phoned detail into Hudson line. Rio phone completely dead, began house 

checks. 

1930: Phone partially juiced up - one missed phone call and one text message about a wrong-way driver on Davie Blvd. No answer on callback and replied to text. Continue house checks.

1946: Email for out of town check received and added to log. 

1949: Unsecure door found - checked interior of “guest apartment” and all 

appeared okay. Resident was phoned and advised of the incident, case # 20-123190

2015: Isles checks complete, began mainland checks. 

2026: Three packages moved to the rear - texted the very appreciative 

homeowner. 

2100: All out of town checks complete. Complete a quick loop before securing.

2130: Out of service.

0935-   resident on 7th Street advised of possible package thieves, I found them later and it was a dad and daughter amazon delivery team 

1145-   completed checks on the isles,

1305- completed checks on the mainland,

1330-   out of service

2000- called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrol. 

2100- continued to patrol the corridors. It’s a very quiet evening. 

2200- Posted along the federal corridor. No pedestrian observed walking towards the Rio area 

2300-  continued patrolling the neighborhood and corridors. Very quiet 

0000- doing my final rounds throughout. Very quiet  observed nothing move tonight 

0100- out of service

1715 10-8, received an email with a photo of two boys ringing her doorbell. I advised her I would keep a lookout for them in the neighborhood

0700-   completed checks on the isle, vacation checks, patrolled Federal hwy corridor, checked parks, schools and church.

1116-   received a call reference tent set up behind home, I spoke with the “Camper” who is traveling North, he packed up and left.

1118-   went to home reference property check, all appears secure

1220-   sitting 10th St isle, 

1300-   completed a patrol of the isles

1420-   completed a patrol of the mainland, out of service

1730 10-8, arranging to meet Jerry to bring the car back to Rio

1830 car moved

1940 Responded to alarm. Construction site, door ajar, check the property all okay

2100 responded to an alarm. Checked the home, all appeared okay 

Tuesday July 14th, 2020 

1830: In service - detail called into Hudson line, starting to rain. Three missed phone calls, one 

text, and one email. Returned missed call (two of which did not answer), removed one out of town check (via text), and later delivered two new signs. Reviewed activity log and began out of town checks.

1853: Torrential downpour of rain, thunder, and lightning. Doing drive by out of town checks. 

Gave an older white female  a courtesy ride to her residence due to the inclement/severe

weather, 20-109117.

2000: Out of town checks complete, still light rain. Lots of downed tree and palm branches 

throughout the neighborhood. 

2130: Out of service.

1815: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Smoker Park, BCS, Fed Hwy. 

Lots of joggers / walkers / bicyclists out and about. 

1915: Still roving, no issues. 

2015: Muggy

2115: Out of service.

1815: Retrieved phone from Rio car at station. One missed phone call from Nadine at LYC 

requesting a detail this Saturday. There are no new emails or text messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1915: High visibility roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Smoker Park, and Fed Hwy 

corridor. 

2008: Flagged down for a disturbance on Cordova Rd - handled by patrol. 20-094144

1715: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, Miller bldg, BCS, LYC, and Smoker Park. 

1815: Not too many people out, garbage day. Getting dark and cloudy, hopefully it rains!

1915: Still roving, no issues. Replied to email about house checks.

1004-   spoke with resident reference issues in the area, no real concerns just talk,

1405-   responded reference a medical call, patient transported

1445-   out of service

1900- Called into the Hudson line. Operator took my info. Began patrol the corridors pretty active with joggers and kids 

2000- Continued the patrolling of Rio corridors. Quieting crowd  

2100- checked and monitored the federal highway roadway. Very busy. 

2200- Drive around the area particularly the fed corridor looking for juveniles

2300- very quiet evening. Continued the monitoring of area

0000- still going through the motion.  All clear 

0100- drive the thoroughfares of Rio vista. Very quiet evening 

0200- Continued the canvassing of major roadways inside Rio. All quiet.

1715 check engine light on and engine sputtering in hoa car.  Took to garage for service
