Also I observed an open garage door at a residence where there was no answer at this members home, I then checked the door leading into the residence which was unlocked, this is a perfect crime of opportunity being this residence is close to Federal Highway. I called the listed number multiple times but there was no answer and it did not go into voicemail, I also checked the backyard but nobody is home. Closer to the end of my shift I decided to close the garage door and secure the residence. Hopefully I did not lock out home owner, but the consequences could have been worse if left unsecured.

1700 I followed up with the homeowner in reference to Officer Gestal’s incident earlier today. The resident stated everything was fine; she just has a house full of absent minded teenagers currently. She was very grateful that the security patrols would be watching over her property in this manner and asked that I relay her thanks.
1740 I assisted a lost motorist seeking 550 S. Federal Hwy.
1825 Received call on the detail phone from the caretaker of elderly resident. The resident has been receiving telephone calls from unknown persons telling her she owes them $475.00 and she should write a check and put it outside her front door for them so they can pick it up at night.
The elderly person stays at home alone over night as the caretakers only stay with her during the day. They are afraid some may come to the house and try to get money from her. She has been advised not to open the doors or answer the phone and call police if there is any suspicious activity.
The caretaker stated over the past two months the elderly female has written several large checks to persons claiming they have done some yard or roofing work for her and the case is under investigation by her bank as possible fraud scheme.
It is very difficult to obtain any specific information from the elderly female about this incident as she has suffered strokes and can’t speak and she has a failing memory. She can write to some degree if you need to communicate with her. I advised them I would park the detail car for a few nights to improve the security.
