The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

Hunting for treasures is a surefire win.

You never know what you may get,

A rug, a shelf or a TV set.

Toys, furniture and tires are nice,

Believe me man you can’t beat the price.

Seek and find to your hearts content,

Score a garden rake though slightly bent.

            Hunt though trash bins and the like;

You may even find an old mountain bike.

All day long they hunt for big prizes,

In anticipation their blood pressure rises.

The searches can yield a lot or a little,

One time all that was found was stale peanut brittle.

They come from near and they come from far,

And load your trash into their overstuffed car.

Big trash day in our little village.

out of town checks. They were added to the log. I reviewed the detail log and

initially Tom “GQ” Gestal made me blush, before he continued with his poor

treatment of the rest of us. If he had been paying attention and not been so verbally

abusive to the rest of us (specifically the elderly ones) there would be no need for the
