1630 new messages. First from Resident concerned about the parking on Cordova between eighth and Ninth blocking the lane particularly during the day. I called her back and advised I would check it and ask day shift to check it regularly.
second message from Resident for vacation check added to log. Third message reference a homeless individual panhandling in the neighborhood no contact info requested.
- Call from Resident. He had a cardboard bed set up along the side of his house. At the same time he observed a homeless male walking on North Rio Vista Boulevard. I contacted the male who accepted a courtesy ride to 17th Street. Please provide extra Patrol should he return

0600 - 10-8, noted two messages and a Next Door email- I handled that Garmin GPS vessel burglary the other day- will ask Capt Scelfo to share the pics they posted of the culprits.
0700 - checked residence per owner request (left VM ON SAT) and all was secure. Added to log.
Spoke with multiple fishermen about permits and parking issues.
Completed vacation checks and made log up to date.
Pumpkin patch parking is full. Parked Rio car as close as possible. Next up: please return to pumpkin patch.

0510- Began early morning patrol of the business district along S Fed to include New River Pizza. There is no unusual activity to report.
0540- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.
0610- Patrol of bridges. Contact was made with 2 individuals who were advised to clean up once they are done.
0650- School bus stop patrol.
0715- As I drove past residence she waived me down. We discussed some recent concerns of vehicle burglaries that her new neighbor had become a victim of. we made arrangements to meet at 0800
0740- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0800- I made contact with resident who advised me that her BMW has been rummaged through 2X in the last week with the last incident being Sunday overnight, advised me that the garage door opener was stolen allowing easier access to the residence. She is having that reprogrammed today. She did clearly state that she knows better and that both times the vehicle was unlocked. She does not want to create a report but wanted to bring it to our attention, she is a new member and has been provided with 2 new signs being she lives on the corner.
0830- Due to recent incidents 9520 was repositioned to SE 12way.
0830- Received call and added out of town check.

1600 10-8, missed call from Resident from 4 a.m. He advised of a suspicious cream-colored full-size van with two Hispanic males that we're going through his neighbor's trash can at the curb. Advised we should keep a lookout. Second call reference of vacation check added to log

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.
0630- Patrol of bridges and LYC. All clear
0710- Patrol of isles.
0820- House checks complete, all appear to be secure.
0900- Patrol of Rio mainland, parks and business district. All quiet due to inclement weather.
0930- Final rounds
- 10-8. Detail called in. Two emails on detail phone, both out of town checks. I added them to the log. I reviewed the log and 10-19 for fuel. 10.42 gallons.
- Flagged down by multiple residents reference the helicopter hovering above the neighborhood. I explained the incident that was going on at BGH.
- Traffic stop at 9 & 9 reference a stop sign violation on a golf cart. Rio resident warned and admonished.
- Corridors, parks, LYC, Hemingway and neighborhood secure. Despite the curiosity, I declined the two LinkedIn invites that came in via email during the shift. 10-7.
Sunday October 8, 2017
2230- In Service. Called in Hudson line.
2300- Patrolled the Rio neighborhood. All clear.
2320- Flagged down by a Rio resident regarding 2 B/M juveniles walking around the neighborhood @ SE 9/10Ave. I drove towards that area and at sight of my vehicles, both b/m fled. After a foot chase, I caught (yes, old fashioned police work. No perimeter needed) the skinnier suspect. both were ultimately arrested.
One confessed to burglarizing (3) vehicles and attempting at six (6) others. I drove to the station where I waited for detectives to interview both arrestees. I wrote the p/c and header while waiting for confessions.
0330- Out of Service and homebound to nurse a sore knee.

- Flagged down reference a man trying to commit suicide. The man was running on Southeast 9th Avenue and then stood on top of the rail on the bridge. Apparently his girlfriend took away his one-year-old son. He dangled himself over the bridge claiming he couldn't swim and was going to drown. Officer Arena and I grabbed him and pulled him to safety. He was Baker acted

1600 message from resident regarding tree that had been cut down. I contacted the resident who advised sometime after the hurricane someone cut down his tree in the Swale with a chainsaw. The tree had already been removed. He advised he contacted Parks and Rec who stated they did not know anything about the removal. Information report taken

The home has a down powerline preventing entry to the rear. Seems unsafe to enter. Proceed with caution.
SE 7th st- completely flooded. I was able to make it through and flagged down by a resident asking when public works was going to drain the storm drain. I told him I was not aware but did see several trucks on the mainland as I completed the house checks

Monday, September 25th, 2017.
1615 10-8 message from resident. advising he returned home and that was why his door was open. Call from Resident asking about her car being egged. Said she spoke to Ofc Smith. Called Crystal and got details on the report. Met with neighbors who apparently witnessed an egging by resident juvenile a month ago. Met with other neighbors who advised they saw him and another juvenile drop an egg out of the car a month ago. Spoke with juvenile who denied any further a gang but advised he would tell his friends to stop doing it.
1830 contacted resident back and advised her of my findings. Also advised her that her boys were implicated in egging other cars by some of the kids. She said she would talk to them.
1940 traffic stop of teen on golf cart unregistered. Advised him of the issues with the aching in the neighborhood and that we would be cracking down on unlicensed golf cart driving
- Traffic stopped on teens riding in back of pickup truck. Advised of the same

0800-Coordinated with patrol officers to pick-up and return HOA car from Brightline garage back to the neighborhood.
0830-0915 Returned all phone calls and text messages to concerned residents. Added & removed numerous residences from the out of town logs.
0915-1100 - Continued out of town checks.
1100-1130 - Neighborhood patrol
1540 Traffic stop, stop sign violation at 9 & 9. Driver warned and admonished.
1614 - Welfare check came into PD via email. Contact made and residents fine. 10-98 B. Sgt Vetancourt notified.

0215- received a call at Ponce de Leon and fed in reference to a golf cart that flipped over with multiple parties on board and driver was unconscious. Responded with Patrol and stabilized unconscious driver until ems arrived. Driver was Rio resident. EMS transported driver, accident documented under case number 34 - 1709 - 146226

Resident called to advised that there is a flat bed tow truck that has been parked at the corner of SE 8th Avenue and SE 11th Court and the tow truck was blocking view of the roadway. He advised that he almost got into 2 accidents because of the truck being there. I located the truck and made contact with the owner, agreed to move the tow truck without incident. ...No new emails.
