The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

Sunday July 24th, 2022          

0700-        In service. No emails, texts, or missed calls. Reviewed activity log and began 

roving patrol.

0730- complete checks on the mainland. 

0800- Flagdown at Rio Vista and 9th Ave. for a found purse. 

0830- Responded to Lauderdale Yacht Club to conduct a property check. 

0840- High visibility patrol on the isles. 

0900- Completed report for found property. 

0915- Transported found property to the station to submit into evidence. 

1000- out of service.

Monday July 25 , 2022

0500 10-8 called in detail. One email regarding a new vacation check added to the book I then  Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC. I patrolled the isles all quiet. I checked all away homes. 

0600 I patrolled all of the neighborhood and many away homes. I checked by parks no issues . 

0700 I continued patrols I checked by parks and then checked along fed Hwy tunnel closed down for the week 

0800 10-7 

1700: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There was two missed calls and one 

email; no text messages. 

            Email: Sticker delivery - delivered sticker, 

photographed on sign, and email replied as proof of service. 

Calls: 1 - vm @ 0910 hours requesting out of town check

- added to log. 

2 - spam @ 1518 hrs

            Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol 

1745-1800: Torrential downpour of rain - a few people got absolutely soaked. 

1815: Email for out of town check - added to log. 

1900: Frequent roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, and Fed Hwy 

corridor.

2000: Intermittent light rain. 

2100: Out of service. 

Tuesday July 26 ,

0500 10-8 called in detail. No new emails texts or voicemails I then  Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC. I patrolled the isles all quiet. I checked all away homes. 

0600 I patrolled all of the neighborhood and many many away homes. I checked by parks no issues . 

0700 I continued patrols I checked by parks and then checked along fed Hwy tunnel closed down for the week 

0800- continued patrols all quiet

Thursday, July 28 2022   

0700-  10-8 Traffic stop at SE 9th Ave and Fed in Dominos parking lot

            Citation issued for running red light

            Retrieve key from LYC

0730   Called in detail; 

No new missed calls or messages

Began house checks

0900   House check - package placed at back patio

1000   Still doing house checks

            Resident hasnt left yet. Next on duty please check

1100   Doing house checks on Isles 

Ttaffic stop at 900 South Fed- ran red light- citation issued

1200   10-7

2200 - In Service, phoned Hudson Line.

-Voicemail , suspicious person rang doorbell claiming to be pest control. Requested an extra check, - Next on shift please follow up. (Checked at 0055, appears 10-4)

- Voicemail says an officer moved a package to the rear of the house but a neighbor couldn’t locate it. - Next on shift please follow up, let the resident know that they were notified in error, the package was moved at a different residence.


Responded to 21V delayed, occurred at 2055 hrs (34-2207-136106). Interrupted by resident, no loss.

  • 21V delayed from 2057 hrs, (34-2207-136131), entered parked vehicle, nothing taken.

Friday, July 29 , 2022 

0730- 10-8 called in detail. No new emails, texts or voicemails. Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC.

0900- received a call from a resident, who stated a juvenile from a dark car went through her car while it was parked on the roadway at approx. 2100 hrs, nothing was taken and the video she had was very bad. She stated she did not want to make a report and only advise the patrol.

0930-  completed checks, a patrol and static observance at multiple stop signs

1200-  completed checks of the mainland 

1330-  out of service

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  One new email. .  I added it to the vacation log.

1630-  Conducted out of town check.  All secure.

1700-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1730-  Checked mainland and parks.

1800-  Patrolled businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

Saturday, July 30 , 2022 

0700- 10-8 called in detail. No new emails, texts or voicemails. Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC.

0928- received a text from advising of an incident from Thursday night around 2100hrs. A person was found looking through their car. The person was scared away by the resident's dog. The creep kicked the dog and ran away. Patrol responded and took a report and possible latents. 

1000-  completed check on the isles

1200-  completed checks on the mainland

1300-  out of service

1615               10-8 called in detail

0700-        In service. No emails, texts, or missed calls. Reviewed activity log and began 

roving patrol.

0715-  Conducted a check at Francis Abreau Park.

0730- Conducted high visibility patrols on the mainland. 

0800- Completed all vacation checks on the mainland.

0515 10-8 called in detail. No new emails texts or voicemails I then  Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC. I patrolled the isles all quiet. I checked all away homes.

0700 I continued patrols I checked by parks and then checked along fed Hwy tunnel closed down for the week

            Email: Out of town log update - log updated

            Voicemail: Inquiring about hiring house tenting detail; provided info

Updated out of town log, reviewed activity log, and began roving patrol. 

1500: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and BCS. 

1501: Auto Burglary of lawn service trailer while workers on site - B/M (40’s, gold teeth, 

B/F passenger) in late model Burgundy Kia Optima (possible tag of ‘UDY893’) exited vehicle, entered trailer, and took 3 leaf blowers. Before suspect could flee, he was confronted by the workers who had a scuffle with him and retrieved the equipment; the thief left empty handed. Case # 22-138552

1600: Non-stop roving patrol. 

1700: Still roving - no problems. 

1800: Several positive citizen contacts. 

1900: Still roving.

2000: Out of service

Tuesday August 2,2022

0530 10-8 called in detail. No new emails texts or voicemails I then began patrolling the area. I checked through LYC. I patrolled the isles all quiet. I checked all away homes. 

0600 I patrolled all of the neighborhood and many many away homes. I checked by parks no issues . 

0700 I continued patrols I checked by parks and then checked along fed Hwy tunnel closed down for the week 

0900- 10-7 

1600 in service. Began roving patrols. No suspicious activity 

1730 continued patrols all clear 

1830 patrols of mainland and isles all clear 

1900 final patrols all clear. Out of service

2200 - 10-8, phoned Hudson line. No new emails, voicemails or texts, began patrols of mainland and isles

2300 - High visibility roving patrols

1730 constant patrols throughout the hoa all clear

1830 patrols of mainland and isles clear of any criminal or suspicious activity 

2000 final patrols all clear. Out of service.

0600- 10-8 called in detail. No new emails, texts or voicemails. Started patrolling the area. I checked through LYC. all clear

0700-  completed all checks on the isles

0930- finished all checks on the mainland and a patrol of Rio
