The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

Sunday, April 4rd, 2021

0745-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0845-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. Called into work, out of service

Monday 4/5/21    

0700 10-8 called in detail. No messages or emails. Started patrolling

0720 Checked Hemingway and LYC checked isles checked away home. 

815 Continues Patrols along all mainland streets as well as all parks and checked away home.

0900 10-7

1800    10-8, no messages

2000    Patrols of the area with cruise lights active.  Checked dead end of SE 10 isle.  Not much activity.

2130    Continuing patrols.  Stationed at SE 7 ST/ Fed for visibility.

2300    10-7

Tuesday, April 6th 2021

0800                10-8 called in detail

0803                Text message received for an out of town check- added to log.

                        Began house checks 

0900                All house checks completed

1000                roving patrols on Isles

1100                Hemmingway and LYC

1200                10-7

1245: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There are no new emails, text messages, or 

missed phone calls. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1430: Stood-by at BCS during dismissal. 

1515: Resume roving patrol. 

1600: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy, and BCS. All secure. 

1711: Alarm; accidental, case # 21-056801

1800: Roving patrol.

1845: Out of service.

1930- Called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrol and checking LYC. 

2005- received a call for service regarding an ill person who appears to be injured. Arrived and observed him with a severe injury to his forehead. He was incoherent. Rescue 8 treated and transported to BGH.  

2100- I resume back to my detail and began patrolling the corridors 

2200- continued patrolling the neighborhood. Very quiet. 

2300- still monitoring. Construction has begun on Fed 

00030- out of service 

Wednesday 4/7/21

0500 10-8 called in detail. No messages or emails. Started patrolling

0525 Checked mainland streets and , parks. 

and then checked away home. 

 0630 Checked isles, Hemingway and LYC. 

0730  Checked along Fed hey and then all mainland streets again and parks 

0800 Continued patrols received call ref  suspicious male at 9 and 9. I made contact a homeless subject he was offered services refused and left area he was monitored until he went back out to Fed hwy. 

0900 10-7

1530- called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Began routine patrol. Busy with residents 

1630- checked LYC and surrounding isles. Weaves throughout the neighborhood. 

1730- continued the laborious patrol ensuring high visibility 

1830- monitored the Fed corridor. Very busy as usual 

1930- checked parks and weaved through isles 

2030- monitored 12 st and 9 ace stop sign with lights on 

2130- monitored Fed corridor and weaved throughout the corridors. 

2230- continued patrolling the corridors and monitoring the community 

2330- out of service 

Thursday, April 8th, 2021

0745-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0830-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

0945-     Patrolled the mainland, businesses and parks,  Out of service

2145: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There are no new emails, phone calls, or text messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

2245: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. All quiet. 

2345: Still roving - still quiet. 

0045: Out of service. 

Friday, April 9th 2021

1400- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.  

1430- Began out of town checks.

1500- Completed checks, all secure

1515- Received an email from Hudson to drop off a sign.  I dropped off the sign and left it at the front door. 

1530-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1600-  Patrolled the mainland and businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1630-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1700-  Out of service.

1900- called into the Hudson line. New email for sign drop off. I dropped one off. I later determined Det. B. Kaplan dropped one off already. 

2000- continue patrolling the corridors and neighborhood. 

2100- checked LYC and surrounding isles. Yacht club busy. 

2235- received a call from complaining about loud music and the fishermen at the end of roadway. Contacted the fisherman and advised them that they needed to vacate and move. 

0000- out of service 

  

Monday, April 12th 2021

0900- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  Phone was found off the charger and dead. After charging no new messages left on the phone.

0915- Checked LYC, Yacht club and all homes on the out of town log. I could not add my initials to the homes on the mainland. 

1015- Checked the parks, Fed Hwy corridor and school. Maintained high visibility

1115- Got flagged down regarding someone possible inside the vacant home. Did a check of the property all secured.

1200- 10 7

         

1700    10-8, 2 new messages.  Both relating to shell casings found on Cordova/ 9 St.  I responded and retrieved the casings from the resident and placed into evidence for processing.  It seems likely that a vehicle was spilling them as they were located all the way down the roadway to the S curve.  Checked with Records and verified no calls related to gunshots over the weekend.  Report taken.  

1920    Responded to alarm.  Accidental by Brinks alarm company who was still on scene.    

2000    Patrols through the area with cruise lights activated.  Monitored traffic at 7st/ Fed.

2200    10-7

Tuesday April 13th, 2021 

1700: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There are no new emails, texts, or missed 

phone calls. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1800: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. 

1900: Anon. reportee called and advised that a neighbor was letting their dogs run loose at the 

dead end of Ponce; requested PD speak with the subjects. I had a casual, polite conversation with the couple. The couple were advised of the leash laws without incident. 

2000: Out of service.   

Wednesday 4/14/21 

0400 10-8 called in detail. No messages or emails. Started patrolling

0430Checked mainland streets and , parks. 

0530 Checked isles, Hemingway and LYC. 

0630  Checked along Fed hey and then all mainland streets again and parks 

0700 10-7

2030-Called into the Hudson line. No new messages 

  Began patrolling the corridors. Checked LYC. 

2130- continued patrolling the corridors. Monitored the Quiet Fed corridor. 

2230- checked LYC again. Quiet 

2330- high visibility patrol throughout the community 

0000- out of service 

Thursday, April 15th, 2021 

0845-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0930-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

1000-     Patrolled the mainland, businesses and parks,  Out of service


0830-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0915-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

1000-     Patrolled the mainland, businesses and parks,  Out of service

1800: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. Phone not in Rio car. Reviewed activity log and 

began roving patrol. 

1900: Retrieved Rio phone. 1 email for out of town check (added to log) and 1 missed phone call 

(returned call and left voicemail). 

2000: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, and Fed Hwy corridor. 

2100: Out of service.  

Friday, April 16th

1400- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  One new voicemail left on the phone.  I added the address to the vacation log.  When I went to conduct the vacation check at 1500 hours, they were home.  They advised the message was from two weeks ago.  For some reason it showed up as a new message on the voicemail today.  I removed address from vacation log. 

1430- Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1500- Checked businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1600- Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1630- Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1700- Out of service.

2000-   In service, no calls or messages on the Rio phone.  All clear.

2130-   Patrols all clear, no suspicious activity in the HOA.

2230-   Return to station for equipment, patrols all clear.

2330-   Continuous high visibility patrols all clear, Isles and mainland clear.  Minimal vehicle traffic and no foot traffic observed.

0100-   Out of service

Saturday, April 17th, 2021 

0730-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0830-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

0945-     Patrolled the mainland, businesses and parks, out of service


1530-   10-8 called in detail; 1 missed call for 1 vacation check; added to log
