The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1315: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1430-1515: Stood-by at BCS during dismissal. Resume roving patrol. 

1615: Still roving. 

1715: Continued non-stop roving. Quite a few walkers / bicyclists  / joggers out.

1815: Still roving.

1900: Out of service.

Wednesday 3/24/21 

0510  10-8 called in detail. No messages or emails. Started patrolling

0540 Checked isles, Hemingway and LYC 

0630  Checked mainland streets and , parks. 

And all vacation away homes 

0730 Continued patrols checked Fed hwy.

1730    10-8, no messages

1815    Had fisherman parked on SE 10 St bridge move vehicle from bridge

1820    Had illegally parked fishermen at SE 10 St move vehicle

1840    Responded to alarm.  Accidental by guest.  All ok.

Thursday March 25th, 2021

0530-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0630-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

0800-     Patrolled mainland, businesses and parks.

0930-     Out of service

2130: In service, detail phoned into the Hudson line. There are no new emails or text messages but, there waa three missed phone calls which I called back. 1254: Boat causing disturbance at SE 9 St - reportee phoned non-emergency number. 1516: No answer. 1534: Busy tone. Reviewed activity log and Began roving patrol. 

2230: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, and Fed Hwy corridor.

2330: Still roving, minimal activity. 

0000: Out of service.

Friday       March 26th, 2021 0530-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0630-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

0800-     Patrolled mainland, businesses and parks.

1000-     Out of service

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  One new voicemail left on the phone.  I added the address to the vacation log. 

1630-  Responded to an alarm call.  Alarm appeared to be a malfunction, all secure 34-2103-49900

1700-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1730-  Conducted vacation check.  Home all secure.

1800-  Checked businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Patrolled the mainland and isles.

1900-  Out of service.

2100-   In service, no calls or messages on Rio phone.  Patrols began.

2230-   Continuous high visibility patrols throughout Rio HOA, no suspicious activity observed.

2330-   Flagged down by juvenile male at SE 5th Ct and SE 9th Ave who stated that he was at his friend’s residence in Rio and his phone died, leaving him no way to contact his parents.  Contact was established with his mother, who made arrangements to get him home.  I stood by with the juvenile until the ride arrived.  34-2103-050122

Wednesday 3/31/21

0530 10-8 called in detail. No messages or emails. Started patrolling

0545 Checked isles, Hemingway and LYC. 

0630  Checked mainland streets and , parks. 

and then checked away home Resident still home advised she was leaving this afternoon was very happy we stopped by . 

0800 Continued patrols checked Fed hwy. 

0900 10-7

1700- Called into Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrolling the corridors. 

1800- continued to patrol and slid by LYC. Quiet

1900- continued patrolling the area. Lots of runners. Very quiet eve 

2000- monitored Fed corridor and SE 9 St corridor. All quiet 

2100- continuing the routine patrol. weaved throughout the corridor. Quiet 

2200- conducted patrol throughout 

2300- monitored Fed highway. 

0000- out of service 

Thursday       April 1st, 2021

0600-     In service, called in detail. No emails or  messages. 

0630-     Conducted a patrol of the Isles, LYC and bridges. 

0730-     Patrolled the mainland, businesses and parks.

0800-     Out of service


2100: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There were 3 missed phone calls, two emails, 

and no text messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

Email: one junk, one vacation check - added to log. 

Missed Calls:
            1058 hrsleft a voicemail 

requesting to speak to an officer about an unknown issue next week...no answer on callback; left voicemail. 

1312/1316: left a long voicemail about a mail carrier truck driving 

down the one way street on SE 11th CT. Attempted to make complaint with USPS

but, wanted Rio patrol to be on the lookout for it because the driver exclaimed expletives when he confronted / told him to not drive the wrong way. 

2200: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, and Fed Hwy corridor. Nice/cool out.

2300: Still roving. 

0000: Out of service. 

Friday, April 2, 2021 

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line. One message left on the Rio phone. 

1700-  Went to FLPD for fuel and car wash

1730-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1800-  Checked the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

Saturday, April 3rd, 2021
