The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

Tuesday November 3rd,

0830     10-8 called in detail

            1  text message about barking dog (see below)

            1 text message ref resident returning home

900      Began vacation checks

0930     Called Resident ref a person possibly impersonating a police officer soliciting money

            Made contact with male who was an FOP Solicitor and phone contact with someone                   named who spoke with resident the day prior and may have tried to pass              himself as an officer  34-2011-168596

1030                 Roving on Isles

1130                 Park checks

                        Spoke with resident about continuous complaints of barking dogs

1230                 10-7

1400: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There were no phone calls or text messages but

one junk email. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol.

1500: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy, and BCS. Virginia Young Park

closed now I see.

1600: Still roving. Lots of seawall construction activity on Cordova Rd.

1700: Licensed fishermen on 10th ST aisle; no issues.

1800: Out of service.

November 4  2020                   

0300- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line. I reviewed the activity log.

0305-  Patrolled the isles, yacht club and hemingway.

0405-  Checked businesses along Federal Hwy and patrolled mainland

0500- 10 7

Wednesday ,Nov 4, 2020.   

0500    In service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol

0600  -  Completed checks on the isles

0700 -  Completed checks on the mainland

0800-  Continued patrols no issues

0900-   Out of service

Thursday, 5 November 2020.   

0730-     In service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol

0814-     Completed checks on the isles

0830-     Completed checks on the mainland

0900-     Out of service

1515: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No missed phone calls or text messages but, four

emails from yesterday; 3 emails were from Protect Rio Vista issues and 1 from Snead to

deliver a new member sign. Reviewed activity log and delivered a sign.

1600: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy - very windy and sporadic rain.

1700: Still roving.

1737-1815: Flagged down about a bad traffic Crash in the 600 blk of S Federal - 5 car crash just

south of the tunnel. A PSA handled, Case # 20-169811.

1815: Out of service.

1900- Called into the Hudson line. No new messages began patrolling Rio corridor. Very wet and quiet

2000- continued the patrol and monitored The fed highway corridor. 5 car pile up accident is now clearing

2100- continued to monitor the neighborhood. Foot traffic along federal corridor is pretty busy with pedestrians

2200- out of service

Friday November 6, 2020                     

1600-  In service,  I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.

1630- Began out of town checks.

1700- Completed out of town checks.

1730- Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1800- Checked businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830- Final patrol of mainland and isles.

1900- Out of service.

2030-   In service, began patrols.  Rain already starting to push through, so minimal vehicle and foot traffic throughout the area.  Mainland and isles quiet.

2130-   Call received from about a large trash pile in the road.  It appeared to be a full truckload of yard debris.  Public Works was notified immediately and they advised they would send someone to inspect and remove the debris pile.

2240-   Call received from resident  about the Airbnb , complaining of music and loud noise.  I responded to the residence, and although the noise was slightly audible from the roadway, I advised the occupants to lower the volume and keep the noise down.  34-2011-170443

0000-   Another call was received through dispatch this time about the same location described above in reference to the noise level.  This call listed an anonymous reportee.  I responded again to the residence, and stood outside for several minutes.  Again the voices were barely audible from the roadway, however I made contact with the occupants and reminded them to keep the noise level down. 

0130-   Continuous patrols conducted throughout the HOA, with heavy rain moving in again.

0230-   Out of service.

November 7  2020                    

0300- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line. I reviewed the activity log.

0305-  Patrolled the isles, yacht club and hemingway.\ completed vaca checks.

0505-  Checked businesses along Federal Hwy and patrolled mainland

0600- 10 7

0640-     In service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol

0800-     Completed checks on the mainland

1020-     Completed checks on the isles

1040-     Out of service

November 8  2020

Monday 11/9/20

1715 10-8, several text messages with video stemming after above Airbnb complaint. I called him and he advised that he had an issue with the Airbnb Friday night. See above entry. Apparently, at 2:15 his neighbor  brought the Airbnb guest over to his home for a confrontation. Resident asked that I may contact with neighbor and advise him to please not come over to his house at 2:30 in the morning and wake his family again. I went to neighbors residence , but no one was home.

1930 returned to residence and made contact with nieghbor.  at first he stated he was just going over to his neighbor's house at 2:30 in the morning to give them the contact information for the owner. He then agreed that it would be a better idea to not wake his neighbor at 2:30 in the morning to initiate a confrontation.

2030 vacation checks complete. 10-7

0630     Burglary attempt at  SE  9th st (video available) same subjects from above

0745     Traffic jam at BCS- parents still in vehicle and sitting with their kids until they pull up in  

front of school instead of allowing kid get out and walk, causing traffic to back up all the

way into neighborhood. And non parents entering wrong lane of traffic to exit                neighborhood

0834-   Burglary Auto at  Ponce de leon

0900     Complete house checks

1000-   10-7

Tuesday November 10th, 2020.        

1400: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No new emails, or texts but, one missed call; no

answer on callback. Called westway to jump HOA car battery.

1430-1530: Drove HOA car to station - new battery installed.

1545: Back in Rio - begin roving patrol.

1645: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1715: Licensed fisherman on 10th ST aisle & utility work on SE 9th ST aisle.

1745: Resident called Rio phone and requested a property check after his

alarm company called him stating the alarm was tripped. Property was checked and it

was discovered that the cleaning lady was on scene. Case # 20-172477.

1800: Out of service.

0500-     In service, detail called in, starting patrol,

Thursday November 12th, 2020          

1530: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There was no new emails or text messages

Friday, November 13, 2020                    

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line. No new messages left of the phone.  I reviewed the activity log.

1630- Began out of town checks.

1700- Completed out of town checks.  All secure, I made contact with the caretaker at .  He advised the owners may come back for a week next week.

1730- Patrolled the isles.

1800- Checked the mainland and the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1810- Received a text message regarding a guy driving crazy by SE 17th Street & Federal Hwy.  I ran the tag and there was no record found.

1830- Final patrol of mainland and isles

1900- Out of service.

2030-   In service.  Began patrols of mainland and isles.  All quiet.  No new messages on the Rio phone.  Email was later received  to be added to vacation check list.

2200-   Continuous patrols of HOA, with nothing to report.  A few juvenile residents located at the 9th St isle bridge in parked jeeps, they were advised to properly park their vehicles and all left without issue.

2345-   Call for service received at LYC in reference to a disturbance.  Upon arrival, a member was heavily intoxicated and causing a disturbance, refusing to leave.  Contact was made with her spouse who was also on scene, and an Uber was arranged to take them home.  34-2011-174261

0000-   Call for service received in reference to an unknown person knocking on the resident’s door.  Patrol assisted with the response as I was still dealing with the LYC disturbance.  Call was unfounded.  34-2011-174264

0100-    Patrols of HOA mainland and isles continued, nothing suspicious observed.

0300-   Out of service

Saturday, 14 November 2020.        

0530-     In service, detail called in, one new vacation check, starting patrol
