The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1930- Started off by checking the fishing complaint on SE 10 st. I think the presence Hs helped. None of the regular observed 

2030- Continued checking the neighborhood. No one fishing on bridges. Checked LYC. Very quiet. 

2130- monitored the federal highway corridor. Very quiet 

2230- continued roving the streets and main corridor. Very quiet.

0650-   in service, detail called in, 1 new check already added, starting patrol, 

0830-   completed checks on the isles, responded to residence reference package theft. Report 34-122421

1050-   out of service

1730    10-8, message from resident advising her mom  would  be there today in a white mercedes.  Said hello to the mom as she was pulling out of the drive.  

1930    Checked Yacht club parking area

2130    Dispatched call to area of SE 11st/ 13 ter reference dodge charger with blacked out plate running stop signs.  Left message for reportee, unable to locate

2200    Extra attention on SE 11 Ct

2220    Reportee from above called me back.  Vehicle was making the loop from 9 cordova around to 11 cordova.  It is bulk trash night, so that's a possibility.  Advised I would continue looking for the vehicle.  

2250    Checked end of SE 10 st.  No one out

2330    10-7

Tuesday August 11th, 2020

1845: In service, phoned detail into Hudson line. Rio phone completely dead, began house 

checks. 

1930: Phone partially juiced up - one missed phone call and one text message about a wrong-way driver on Davie Blvd. No answer on callback and replied to text. Continue house checks.

1946: Email for out of town check received and added to log. 

1949: Unsecure door found - checked interior of “guest apartment” and all 

appeared okay. Resident was phoned and advised of the incident, case # 20-123190

2015: Isles checks complete, began mainland checks. 

2026: Three packages moved to the rear - texted the very appreciative 

homeowner. 

2100: All out of town checks complete. Complete a quick loop before securing.

2130: Out of service.

1900: In service, one missed call and two emails. Missed call and emails were for several out of 

town checks - log updated. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol.

2000: Licensed fishermen on 10th ST aisle. 

2100: Forgot to call in detail to the Hudson line - called it in.

2200: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy corridor, and 11 Ct alleyway. 

2300: Out of service.

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  No new messages on the phone.  I reviewed the activity log.

1615-  There was a landscaping truck obstructing traffic in the 1100 block of SE 9th Ave.  I had workers remove a tarp that was obstructing traffic.  

1645-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1730-  Checked businesses along . Federal Hwy.

1800-  Patrolled the mainland.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

1245- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.   I reviewed the activity log.

0100-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

0200-  Checked businesses along . Federal Hwy.

0300- Patrolled the mainland

0400- 10 7 left detail

0500- Patrolled mainland

0600-  Final patrol of isles, mainland check out of town listings. Also found packages in the rain. I moved them to the porch under cover

Tuesday August 18th, 2020

1715: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails or text messages but, 

one missed phone call; upon callback, it was a wrong number. Reviewed activity log and 

began roving patrol. 

1745-1930: One way traffic enforcement in 1100 blk of SE 9th Ave. At least a dozen verbal 

warnings issued (residents, a USPS truck, and a commercial truck) as well as two written 

warnings (one resident, one visitor). Numerous area residents stopped to thank me for the enforcement as it has become a serious issue. I set up barricades in an effort to dissuade wrong-way drivers from SE 12th ST to travel northbound on SE 9th Ave. After doing so, another dozen or so vehicle’s observed the barricades and my marked unit and made u-turns to find an alternate route. Motors would have a field day here...

1500- called into the Hudson line. No new messages. began patrol. Area Very busy with contractors 

1600- checked the fishing area on SE 10 st. No one fishing. 

1700- continued checking the area and corridors. Checked federal highway. Average traffic. 

1800- Out of service.

1815: In service, detail phoned into Hudson line. There are no new emails, missed calls, or text 

messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol.

1915: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, BCS, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. One 

fisherman on 10th St aisle. 

2015: Rio car moved to SE 9th Ave / SE 12th ST to dissuade wrong-way drivers. 

2115: Still roving.

2215: Out of service. 

2215- called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrol. Very quiet. 

2315- staged by fed highway with lights on to thwart any unlawful entry 

0015- continued patrolling the corridors. Nothing unusual. 

0115- out of service 

Friday, August 21, 2020

1600- In service, I called the detail into the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.

1610-  Traffic enforcement at Se 9th Ave and 12 Street.  A driver disregarded the no turn sign.  I educated the driver on why he should not do that.  

1620-  Fixed the stop sign that fell on the ground E/B SE 11th CT & SE 9th Ave.

1630- I observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway at Se 9th Ave & 12 Street with the front bumper hanging off.  Driver advised he was involved in a hit & run at an unknown location.  He claimed to be the victim. Driver could not advise a detailed description of the culprit.  A PSA came and took the accident report 34-2008-128384.  

1700- Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1730- Patrolled the mainland.

1800- Checked businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.
