The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

0815-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol,

0954-   sign delivered, 

1004-   spoke with resident reference issues in the area, no real concerns just talk,

1145-   completed checks 

1225-   delivered sign , 

1310-   delivered sign,

1315-   completed a patrol of the mainland

1405-   responded reference a medical call, patient transported

1445-   out of service

1900- Called into the Hudson line. Operator took my info. Began patrol the corridors pretty active with joggers and kids 

2000- Continued the patrolling of Rio corridors. Quieting crowd  

2100- checked and monitored the federal highway roadway. Very busy. 

2200- Drive around the area particularly the fed corridor looking for juveniles

2300- very quiet evening. Continued the monitoring of area

0000- still going through the motion.  All clear 

0100- drive the thoroughfares of Rio vista. Very quiet evening 

0200- Continued the canvassing of major roadways inside Rio. All quiet.

1030-   in service, detail called in, 1 new messages reference traffic on 9 St isle, starting roving patrol,

1700 10-8.  Called in detail.  

1715 check engine light on and engine sputtering in hoa car.  Took to garage for service

1820 10-8 back in Rio with loaner car.

Tuesday May 5th, 2020

1900: In service, detail called into answering service. Pulling into Rio, was flagged down by 

evening shift officers about protestors in front of a commissioners home; requested I, and several others, standby in front of the home for added visibility. Returned to the station for Rio phone and to get two signs from the rio car to deliver to new members.

1945: Signs delivered (via email request), reviewed activity log, and began roving patrol. 

2030: Graduation party, too bad I did not get the invite. LYC 

having an outdoor cookout, smelled good. 

2100: Non-stop, high visibility patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Smoker Park, BCS, and 

Fed Hwy with cruise and alley lights on. 

2200: Still roving, quiet.  

2300: Out of service.

Wednesday 6 th 2020

0400- called in detail and began high visibility checks. Checked Isle, Hemingway and the Yacht club. Also checked the mainland and the Federal Hwy corridor. 

0600- Circulated entire neighborhood

0700 10 7

1000-   in service, detail called in, heading in to pick up the detail phone, retrieved phone and back inthe area, no new messages, starting patrol,

1200-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles

1345-   made contact with door-to-door salespersons reference EcoSolutions, advised they must have city permits and we are still in a state of emergency, no door-to-door sales, 

back on patrol,

1500- out of service

Thursday, 7 May 2020

1015-   in service, added 1 new check, detail called in, starting patrol,

1215-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles,

1425-   completed a patrol of the mainland, no issues

1500-   out of service

1915: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, texts, or missed phone 

calls. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

2015: High visibility roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, Smoker park, and 

Federal Hwy corridor with cruise and alleys lights on. 

2130: Still roving, all quiet. 

2300: Out of service. 

Friday May 8th, 2020

0700- In service detail called. Completed vacation checks, LYC, Hemmingway. 

0800- High visibility roving, Isles, mainland, parks and Fed Hwy corridor

1000- 10 7

1000-   in service, picking up phone from station, no new messages, starting patrol,

1155-   completed a patrol of the isles,

1310-   stood by for Blue Angels fly-over

1425-   completed a patrol of the mainland,

1500-   out of service

1600-  In service,  I left a message on the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log  No new messages left on the phone.

1630-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1700-  Patrolled the mainland.

1730-  Checked businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

045-     Began patrols of mainland and isles.  No suspicious activity.

2200-   Continuous high visibility patrols throughout HOA with no issues observed.  Met with fisherman at SE 7th St bridge.  Regular, no violations, and was maintaining a clean area and properly parked.

2300-   During continued patrols, made contact with a group of kids at Abreu Park.  They were informed that the park was closed and left without further.

2315-   Observed multiple vehicles parked along the sea wall at the end of the 10th St isle.  They were informed to move along and did so without further.

0000-   During patrols, observed a vehicle in the middle of the intersection at SE 7th St and S Fed.  Driver ran out of gas, and was waiting for her husband.  I stood by to prevent her from being struck and assisted with getting her vehicle operational.

0145-   After final patrols were all clear, out of service and hours called in.

Saturday 9 th 2020

0400- called in detail and began high visibility checks. Checked Isle, Hemingway and the Yacht club. Also checked the mainland and the Federal Hwy corridor.

1500- called into the Hudson line. Began patrolling the corridors 

1600- continued the patrolling in and around the neighborhood. Very busy. 

1700- checked LYC and Federal corridors. Busy as usual. 

1745- received a call from a homeowner from Rio vista blvd who wanted me to check out a group of kids congregating. Spoke with the kids who were actively recording a video shoot without a permit. They dispersed without an issue. Called the complainant back and advised of the outcome. 

1800- out of service.

1900 patrols lots of walkers out.  Checked on Yacht Club

2030 call from resident who saw suspicious blue Chevy driving slowly through the area.  I drove by her house and tuned on my lights.  Mystery solved.

            Bulk pick up day, moving towards mainland; lots of traffic on Isles

0837    Audible alarm. Accidental by homeowner. Code out

1500- called into Hudson line. Commenced patrolling the corridors. Lots or residents out working out. 

1600- all areas clear of suspicious activities and busy with locals.

new emails, texts, or missed phone calls. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

2000: Several subjects fishing on tenth street aisle; reminded to be tidy when done. About a 

dozen bicyclists enjoying a ride throughout the neighborhood. 

2100: Continuing high visibility roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, BCS, Smoker 

park, and Federal Hwy corridor with cruise and alleys lights on. 

2200: Still roving, all quiet. 

2300: Out of service. 

Wednesday May 13th, 2020

0700- in service called in detail and started checks of out of town log, Isles. Hemmingway and LYC.

0830- patrolled all of mainland and paid attention to 6ct/11th ave.

1015-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting roving patrol, checked area of 6ct and 11 Ave no issues seen,

1015-   in service, enroute to get phone, detail called in, 1 new message reference fishermen on bridges, starting patrol

1145-   returned call reference fishermen on the bridges, no issues,

1418-   checked area of 6ct and 11 ave, no issues

1435-   completed checks and patrol of the mainland,

1500- out of service

0545- In service checked Hemmingway, LYC, Isles and started roving. Heavy Rain

0745- High visibility Fed corridor, mainland, Isles, LYC parks. Did 1 house check still heavy rain

1015-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting roving patrol,

1232-   resident called about a line down near  Cordova, I went by and it looks to be a phone AT&T and Comcast are in the area working,

1305-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles,

1440-   completed a patrol of the mainland,

1500-   out of service

1600-  In service,  I called the detail in the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.

1630-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1700-  Checked the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1730-  Patrolled the mainland.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

2000-   In service.  Began patrols, heavy rain so HOA was very quiet.

2200-   Continued high visibility patrols, all clear.  Some flooding on streets on mainland portion of HOA, little to no vehicle or foot traffic.

0000-   Patrols of mainland and isles were continued.  A call for service was received in reference to an alarm, showing a garage door activation.  I responded with patrol, and all appeared secure after a check of the entire property.  Heavy rain started again.

0200-   Patrols were continued with no suspicious activity observed.  Out of service.

2200- called into Hudson line originally for 2 hours.  I stayed an extra hour due to a gathering complaint.

0000- received text from homeowner ref to a loud gathering at S. Rio vista and 9 ave. I searched and searched and could not find the complaint or heard noise.
