The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1800- in service called into Hudson line  began patrolling the corridors. All quiet 

1900- continued patrolling the neighborhood. All clear and quiet 

2000- Continued patrol with overheads on. Very quiet 

2100-checked corridors including a fed. 

2200- continued patrolling the neighborhood and corridors 

2230- out of service 

2330-   in service, no new messages, called in detail, starting patrol/surveillance, 

0030-   observed 4 people on scooters at Cordova and 9 St, spoke briefly with them, stated they were just riding around looking at houses, i explained the issue with being in the area this late doing nothing and they decided to take an uber back to las olas,

0300- In service called into the Hudson line. Began patrolling Rio. Very quiet and voice night 

0400- Drove around the Rio streets. Very quiet 

0500- Continued directed patrol in and around the Rio community 

0600- Continued driving around the neighborhood for huh so it.

                        Traffic stop conducted at SE 7th st and Fed ref construction vehicle failing to stop                        at the stop sign. Driver issued 1 warning and 1 citation

1730: In service. No new emails or missed calls but, a text message requesting the HOA car to be parked in front of  SE 7th ST in reference to speeders. Reviewed activity log and 

 completed last out of town check. Began the last of the sign deliveries.

1930: Sign deliveries completed - seems as though they are all done. Flagged down by resident 

advising of cars speeding on Cordova - will perform extra patrol.  

2100: Lengthy call from resident about unknown subjects at the neighbors 

AirBnB...wanted to know if it was still an active vacation rental and what could be done 

if the owner advised no one should be there. Resident waiting to hear back from the owner. 

2200: Out of service. 

2230                10-8 called in detail

                        1 message from resident; calling to say what was mentioned                                    above. He stated that he called the number on the AirBnB listing and soon after                                     all the occupants of the house left; which he thought to be suspicious. Per city                               website it is an active air bnb. His concern was understood given the history at the                        house but  No  police action can be taken to remove occupants if it is AirBnB                           compliant.

They were in the backyard and while they were not too loud; he asked                           whether I thought it was an appropriate time for them to be out when neighbors                             would like to sleep. I went to the residence and asked them to keep it down. They stated                                   they would come inside.                     NFA

0912-   responded reference house alarm, arrived and made contact with visitors staying with home owner who accidentally set off the alarm, all clear, 34-2001-018669,

back on patrol,

1600-  In service, I called the detail into Carol.  No new messages on the phone.  I reviewed the activity log. 

1630-  Patrolled the yacht club and isles

1700-  Checked the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1730-  Patrolled the mainland.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900- Out of service.

2115-   In service, began patrols of mainland and isles.  No activity.  Little to no traffic and no foot traffic.

2200-   Continued high visibility patrols, no suspicious activity.

2230-   During patrols, I observed the garage door open and no vehicles in the driveway.  Further investigation in to the residence showed a screen that had appeared to have been removed from a window.  After checking with dispatch and obtaining  a phone number for the residence, no answer was received.  I was eventually able to make contact with the resident, who was home and advised that all was in order.

0015-   Continued patrols,  heavy storms coming through the area.  Little to no activity in the HOA

0145-   Detail void of any traffic or pedestrians.  Heavy rain still in the area.

0200-   Return to station for equipment.

0230-   Continued high visibility patrols of HOA, no suspicious activity to report.  LYC all clear, aside from the flooding from the rain….

1045                While roving on Isles observed a B/M walking barefoot on SE 9th st. After speaking with him, I determined he may be mentally ill. He was taken to Broward Medical Center for Medical clearance.

1145-   completed checks, responded ref. 2 stolen vehicles which occurred around 

3 AM last night, case #34-2002-023712, a white Audi was recovered. Truck still missing, once I arrived the family notified me of 2 bikes that were found in the neighbors bushes, processed and recovered.
