The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

Tuesday, November 05, 2019 

0500- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There is one new voicemail from member that I will address through out shift. There are no new texts, or emails.

0530- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway.

0600- Patrol of Rio mainland, parks, and the 11ct alley. No unusual activity to report.

0700- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0800- Patrol of the isles, bridges, and LYC..

0830- Stopped by residence in reference to a 21V that took place 11/4/19 at 0420. She stated that they left their Ford Expedition unsecured and entry was made. The only loss is the owners manual. (cash, mace, and coins were left inside the vehicle). The footage is not that clear but shows 2 younger white or latin males approach vehicle. Resident does not desire to file a report.

0900- Back to patrol of all areas.

0930- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7. 

1330: In service. One email to deliver sign to new member and one missed 

phone call (from an inoperable number); no missed text messages. 

1600: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor - all quiet. 

1700: Still roving, no issues.

1800: High visibility patrol.

1900: Rio sign delivered per email request. 

1930: Out of service. 

Wednesday. November 06,2019

0500- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0530- Early morning sweep of the business district along South Fed. No unusual activity to report.

0600- Patrol of the 11Ct alley. All quiet.

0630- Remained visible in Rio mainland, many early morning residents out exercising.  

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0800- Began and completed the out of checks, all appear to be secure.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0930- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7

0635-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting checks and patrol, 

0700-   on patrol

1100-   still driving

1135-   completed checks, out of service

2030: In service, voicemail left on Hudson line. Four missed calls (one advised “wrong number”, 

and the three others were disconnected), no new emails, and no new text messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

2130: Still roving, quiet through out.

2230: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. All secure

2330: Out of service. 

Friday, 8 November 2010

0835-   in service, one new checks (added), detail called in, starting patrol, 

0857-   responded to assist patrol on a perimeter of a robbery suspect, suspect ultimately taken into custody, back in Rio, 

0945-   completed check and a patrol of the isles, 

1035-   completed checks and out of service

2030-   In service, reviewed logs and  began high visibility patrols of the HOA.

2200-   Continuous high visibility patrols all clear.  Minimal foot and vehicle traffic throughout the HOA.  LYC all clear.

0000-   Continued patrols all clear.  Rain moving in, neighborhood and isles all quiet.

0130-   All quiet, little to no traffic.

0230-   LYC all clear

0300-   Continuous high visibility patrols all clear.

0330-   Final patrols all clear, out of service.

0825-   Resident from the Hemmingway stopped me and advised several kids jumped the gate at 0215 hrs on Thursday or Friday and went through several cars. He will let us know if anyone needs a report.

1315-   out of service, it is 67 degrees, wow

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. One new voicemail that I will address during shift. No new texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log. 

0700-  Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0800- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC.. All quiet.

0830-  Spoke to resident/complainant  about the continuous barking dog. Upon my attempt of making contact with the homeowner there was no answer or barking dog. I left a Noise Ordinance flier on the front door and advised that we are receiving multiple complaints about their barking dog. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.

0900- Flagged down by concerned resident/motorist of a S86 type male walking Westbound on 9st. Upon my arrival the W/M had made it to Federal Highway and left Rio.

0930- Patrol of all areas.

1000- 10-7

           

1400: In service. Detail called into Hudson line. No new emails or text messages but, one missed 

call. On callback, resident advised of a suspicious car “driving around” but, that it had left shortly after she called detail phone. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1500: Lots of lawn care / construction activity through out. 

1545: Assisted patrol with a fingerprint scan. 

1615: Back in Rio - continuing roving patrol. 

1645: Parking complaint of a vehicle “parked passed the stones at Virginia Young Park” - 

           observed several vehicles parked around the park but, none were causing any safety issues 

nor are there any signs stating that parking is prohibited. 

1715: Re-call from same reportee about same parking issue @ VYP - no viable parking available  

but, still no safety issues observed. 

1718: Check added to the log via text message.

1815: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, and LYC. All secure. 

1915: Next door Rio emails and was stopped numerous times in reference to the police activity 

in the 1400 blk of SE 9th ST yesterday afternoon. Did some research and spoke with reporting officer. Was a domestic disturbance which culminated in an arrest

1945: Out of service.

Thursday November 14th , 2019 

0800-   10-8 called in detail; no new messages

            Began house checks

            High tides on Cordova and some of Isles

0900    All houses checks complete

            Constant heavy rain

            Slow roving patrols

            Dispatch call - resident advising that cars driving fast in the area and 

water coming up to her property line; Repsonded to the area to monitor

1100    Continued slow patrols during rain

1830: In service, phoned detail into Hudson line. Two missed calls, no new emails or text 

messages. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol.

Friday, November 15, 2019

0400- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. there are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log. 

0430- EARLY sweep of the business district along S. Fed. Contact was made with a S86 W/M at fed/7st who was continuing his westbound walk.

0515- Patrol of the 11Ct alley. No unusual activity to report.

0600- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0900- Patrol of the isles, bridges, and LYC..

0930- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7

1430- In service, I called the detail into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.

1500-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1600-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.  It has been raining hard, so there was very little activity. .  

1630-  Checked the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1700-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1730-  Out of service.

2030-   In service, patrols began.  During patrols, I observed a vehicle with it’s rear door open.  I made contact with the homeowner, who inspected the vehicle and stated that they must have left the door open when the got out a short time earlier.  He checked the vehicle and stated that nothing appeared to have been tampered with.  Patrols continued.

2215-   Continued high visibility patrols of HOA all clear

2300-   Patrol all clear, LYC all clear

0030-   Returned to HOA, and was contacted by another detail unit downtown in reference to suspicious persons on scooters headed towards the area of the HOA.  Continued high visibilty patrols were conducted and they were not located.  A short time later, a group of 5 subjects were observed walking north on S Fed from Davie.  The group was monitored and eventually crossed over Federal highway.  

0215-  Due to the increase of suspicious persons in the area, constant patrols were conducted for several hours throughout the HOA and isles, with nothing observed.  

0300-   Out of service
