The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

0715-   stopped reference dog barking, with car off and windows down I did not hear a dog barking, back in service, 

0805-   stopped stop sign runner at 9 and Cordova, warning issued, 

0835-   stopped with patrol for house alarm, cleared by patrol,

1330-   completed checks on the mainland,

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

0515- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0545- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway. No unusual activity to report.

0619- Received a call from resident who had a concern of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Ponce/9St and provided a tag. I located the vehicle which was parked in the driveway Contact was then made with the homeowner who stated the truck belongs to a guest of theirs and they were simply moving cars around from driveway.

0710- Patrol of the 11Ct alley.

0740- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0930- Back to main where i remained visible for the remainder of shift.

1330: In service, detail called into Carol. There are no new emails  or text messages but, one 

missed phone call; on callback, the number was inoperable. Reviewed activity log and 

began roving patrol.  

1430: Many construction / lawn care workers out and about. 

1530: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. 

1630: Out of service

Wednesday, October 23, 2019

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. A quick review of the activity log, then a check of the business district along South Federal Highway. No unusual activity to report.

0640- Patrol of Rio mainland.

0710- Patrol of the 11ct alley.

0745- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Found 2 credit cards in roadway. FPR report generated 34-1910-174157

0850- Patrol all areas.

0900- Traffic enforcement 7st/9av 1UTC warning issued.

0940- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7

0635- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails, starting patrol

0900-   completed checks and patrol of the isles,

1100-   completed checks and a patrol of the mainland,

1120-   returned missed call in reference to barking dog, the gentleman called patrol last evening who responded and addressed the situation, 

1135-   out of service

Friday, 25 October 2019

0620-   in service, no new text or emails, numerous missed calls but no messages, detail called in, starting patrol of the isles,

0744-   resident called reference a suspicious thin B/M walking very close to cars in the 800 block of SE 6 Ct, did not find the individual, I will continue to check the area throughout the day, 

0920-   completed checks of the isles, 

1150-   completed checks on the mainland,

1315-   high visibility patrol on mainland and isles,

1420-   out of service

1600-  In service, I called the detail into Carol and left her a message.  I reviewed the activity log. No new messages left on the phone.

1630-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1710-  Received a call on the Rio phone regarding someone’s cat being up in a tree.  The caller wanted to know who to call to help get it down. I suggested they call the fire department (they love being on the news for that) or animal control. 

1710- Patrolled the mainland and parks. 

1730-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1800-  Checked alleyway behind SE 11th Court.  All clear

1830-  Final patrol of isle and mainland

1900- Out of service

2015-   In service.  No new calls or messages on the Rio cell phone.  During initial patrols, I met with the OT Officer working the King Tide detail.  He advised all was well and there was minimal impact this evening. High visibility patrols conducted.

2130-   Continued high visibility patrols of the HOA all clear.

2230-   Heavy rain on and off, patrols all clear.  Made contact with a fisherman and his son at the bridge on SE 7th St, advised of proper parking.  

2330-   Continued high visibility patrols all clear.  Made contact with a vehicle that had been parked in front of a residence’s gate at Rio and SE 9th St for over an hour.  Driver advised it was her daughter’s house and was just on the phone, thankful for being checked on. All else clear.

0000-   Responded to a call for service about a loud party.  Upon arrival, nothing located and no noise was heard. Call was from an anonymous caller.

0100-   High visibility patrols all clear.

0215-   Continued patrols of isles and mainland all clear.  LYC all clear.

0230-   Met with security at LYC who advised all was quiet

0315-   Out of service

0730-   in service, 1 new voicemail reference live band 10th Street, detail called in, starting patrol, I spoke with a resident

0940-   completed checks of the isles, almost floated away, 

1115-   checked for debris from high tides,

1330-   completed checks of the mainland, 

1530-   out of service

2100- called into Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrolling the neighborhood. 

2200-  Continued patrolling the area. Not much to report quiet. 

2300- Still nothing. The corridors are pretty empty and very desolate. 

0000- Continued routine patrol. Very quiet. Nothing is moving. 

0100- monitored all the corridors in Rio and Fed. No pedestrians or susp vehicles. 

0200- out of service. 

Monday. October 28th 2019

0800                10-8 called in detail

                        Open rear door - requested back up requested- checked rear and                              found homeowner to be home

2230: Assisted patrol with residential hold-up alarm - accidental by 

homeowner, Case # 19-177374

2330: Commercial photo shoot wrapping up in the 800 blk of SE 7th ST - had been filming since 

I arrived in Rio. 

0030: Still roving - quiet throughout Rio.

0145: Out of service. 

Tuesday, October 29, 2019

0545- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0610- Patrol of the business district.

0640- Patrol of Rio mainland.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks. several fliers moved to rear.

0840-  Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0900- received email that has been added to the out of town list.

0900- In reference to Sunday voicemail I made contact with resident in reference to their smashed Jeep window. They previously filed a report and it appears to be vandalism not a 21V as noting in the interior of the vehicle was disturbed and she thinks it could have something to do with her 16year old son switching schools. Pleased with our contact.

0925- Final rounds.

0945-10-7

1515: Detail called into Hudson line. 2 missed phone calls, one gmail, and no new texts. Left 

voicemail for one missed call, the other was an inoperable number. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1730: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy. All secure. 

1830: Out of town check added to log. 

1930: Still roving, quiet. 

2030: All secure. 

2115: Out of service.

1015-   in service, one check added, detail called in, starting patrol,

1052-   resident called reference 2 B/Ms driving a small black 4 door car stole several items from the back of her landscapers trailer, 

I swept the area and had no luck, I then spoke with the crew chief of the landscapers and he did not want a report yet, he wanted to speak with his boss first, I let him know it would be placed in the log and if his boss wants a report I will be at Rio the next few mornings and just call me.

Thursday, 31 October 2019

0645-   in service, no new calls, detail called in, starting patrol, 

0905-   completed checks and a high visibility patrol of the isles, 

1020-   completed checks and a patrol of the freckles,

1145-   out of service

1700    Lights set up at VY Park for the activities. Officers assigned to the park and to patrol the area.

1830: In service, called detail into Hudson line. One missed call, no new emails or text messages. 

Inoperable number on callback and started shift with a flat tire on the Rio car. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1940: Silent alarm - accidental by homeowner, case # 19-179069.

2020: Responded in reference to an elderly female that had fallen. Fire Rescue 

transported, no report case # 19-179100.

2029:  Angry phone call demanding security at SE 9th ST / Cordova in 

reference to lots of kids in the roadway. Responded and advised the kids to stay off the 

roadway without incident. 

2300 Halloween officers securing.

Friday, 1 November 2019

0625-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol, 

0905-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles,

1035-   completed checks and a patrol of the mainland,

1055-   out of service

2030- called into Hudson line. No new messages began routine patrol in and around the favorite locale 

2130- continued patrolling the neighborhood in and around the area 

2230- checked the federal highway corridor and Rio. 

2300- received a call of people fishing off 7 street bridge. Responded with the minute and contacted 2 older wm. Advised to vacate the area. 

0030- continued high visibility patrol. All quiet 

0130- out of service.

1011-   resident reported a disheveled W/M walking through the area, follow individual out of the area, back on patrol,
