The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1730    10-8, received a call as I was logging on of 2 subjects trespassing on construction site.  Arrived and located 2 subjects wm/bf just outside the gate.  Claimed to have walked over from their daughters house because they don’t get along with her bf and had called a Lyft.  Showed me the app.  I remained until the driver picked them up.  Phoned back resident and advised.

1830    Responded to email regarding a wm subject seen going into side yard of resident’s property at approximately 2am yesterday.  Nothing was disturbed at his home, but he was concerned for the neighbor, since the subject appeared to come from that way.  I checked the property and all was secure.

1920    Car is so covered in sap that it is difficult to see out the windows in the evening glare. 

2100    Conducted drive by checks of vacation homes

0600- 1-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log. 

0630- Heavy rains here in Rio, patrol of Federal Highway.

0720- Rain slowed down, began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Except for one. Wide open front door. All gates screens, windows appeared to be secured. An interior check was conducted and nothing appears to be disturbed. Contact was made with owner who stated his son failed to secure door. 34-1907-125340.

0900- Patrol all areas.

0930- final rounds.

1530: In service, detail called into Carol. There was one missed call (on callback, received a 

spanish recording, possibly a telemarketer?), no new emails or text messages. Reviewed 

activity log and began roving patrol. 

1630: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1755: Suspicious incident in area of 1199 S Federal Hwy; PD received text message stating, 

“THIS GUY IS TRYING TO ROB THE CHECK CASHING STORE” - possibly 

referring to 1140 S Federal Hwy - I checked business and everything was 10-4. No report generated, case # 19-125640. 

1930: Non-stop roving. Pretty quiet throughout Rio. Cordova starting to flood with high tides. 

2115: Out of service.

0545- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log. 

0615- Early morning sweep of the 11ct alley way, no unusual activity to report.

0645- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway, all clear.

0715- Conducted out of town checks through out shift and rain slow downs. All appear to be secure.

0900- Patrol of Isles, bridges, and LYC. quiet due to inclement weather.

0930- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks. Final rounds.

2110    Flagged down reference 2 scooters that ran a stop sign.  Checked the area, but they were GOA.

Thursday August 1st, 2019

1815: In service, detail called into Hudson line. Two missed calls, one text message, and no 

emails.

1900: Back in Rio - began aisle checks

2000: Still doing out of town checks.

2100: Just enough time to finish checks. 

2115: Out of service

2200                10-8 called in detail; no new messages

                        Began roving  patrols

2300                Roving on Isles- lots of flooding

                        Observed a black range rover running with passenger side door open. Made contact and driver and wife were in driveway talking

 000                 Roving on mainland

                        LYC, Hemmingway and Parks all clear.

0110                Observed a black SUV pull into two driveways on SE 7th st. Vehicle revered and then headed west to Federal Hwy. Traffic stop was initiated in the 800 block of Federal Hwy. Contact made who stated he was with a transportation company “BJ Eagle Transport”. and was dropping off a client. All driver information was taken and run via teletype. I attempted contact; lights on at the house but no one answered the door.

Friday, August 2, 2019

0600-  In service,  I left a message with Carol.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.

0630-  Began out of town checks

0815-  Completed vacation checks. t, I moved a small package from in front of the front door to the backyard.  

0830-  Received a call.  He advised there was a small boat sinking behind home. I observed to be  turned over on its side, but still tide up. I contacted who takes care of the estate since the owner died.  He advised he will notify the owner of the boat.

0840-  Dispatched to an alarm.  The alarm was set off by housekeeper 34-1908-126995.

0900-  Out of service. I was notified by resident requesting that the police car be moved to  new location.  He advised he is afraid the extra cars in the roadway can potentially cause an accident.  

2045-   In service.  Patrols began, all clear.  LYC all clear.  

2200-   Continued high visibility patrols all clear.

2300-   All clear

0000-   Isles are flooded pretty decently.  All checks clear.

0115-   Continued high visibility patrols

0200-   Patrols all clear, LYC all clear, continued patrols of mainland.  Flooding is receding along isles.

0300-   All clear, vehicle will be moved to SE 9th Ave and SE 9th St

0345-   Out of service.

                        Package left at rear door appears someone staying at house.                                     Left message with resident asking if anyone staying at the house.

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0710- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

1345: Detail called into Hudson line. No new emails or missed calls but, one text message 

requesting out of town check; added to log. Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1500: Rain starting to move in.

1543: Alarm; teenager on scene advised alarm suddenly went off for no 

reason. Residence checked w/ nothing suspicious observed; alarm may have gone off due to bad weather. No report, coded malfunction 19-129373.

1645: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy, and 11 Ct alleyway - 

quiet. Briefly going out of service. 

1845: Back in service. Missed call at 1733 hours of a delayed auto burglary. 

Resident did not want report, just wanted PD to be aware. No loss, unlocked vehicle. 

2000: Still roving. Pretty quiet throughout Rio. No activity in 11 Ct alleyway. 

2115: Out of service. 

2115- Called into Hudson line. No new messages began patrolling the streets of Rio

2215- continued patrolling the neighborhood. Very quiet evening 

2315- continued patrolling the corridors. Checked LYC and it all appeared clear. 

0015- continued high visibility patrol in the area.  Very quiet 

0115- continued patrolling the corridors. Extra quiet

Wednesday, August 07,2019

0630- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. Early morning sweep of Federal Highway and the 11ct alley, all clear.

0715- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0740- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Moved one box to rear. They also had 9 cases of water delivered. I did not move those.

0845- Patrol of bridges, isles, and LYC..

0830-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles, 

0851-   quick traffic stop ref. fail to yield right of way at 9 Ave and Ponce, warning issued, back on patrol, 

1015-   responded to an alarm, all secure, back on patrol, 

1200-   completed checks and a patrol of mainland, 

1230-   out of service

1815: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, text messages, or 

missed phone calls. Began roving patrol. 

1828: Responded in an emergency fashion to an armed disturbance of a male “being attacked 

with a crowbar” just outside of Rio at SE 13th ST; incident was with no crime committed - patrol units handled under case # 19-130551.

1900: Back to roving patrol of Rio. 

2000: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor; pretty quiet. 

2115: Out of service.

1010-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, 

1230-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles, 

1330-   completed checks and a patrol of the mainland,

1410-   out of service

1430-  In service.  I called the detail  into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the phone.  

1500-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.

1530-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1615-  Checked alleyway behind SE 11th Court.  All clear.

1645-  Final patrol of isles and mainland

1730-  Out of service. 

2030-   In service, detail called in.  Reviewed logs, began patrols.

2100-   Call received for a hold up alarm.  I responded along with patrol, and it was determined to be accidental.

2230-   Continued high visibility patrols all clear.  Checks of isles all clear.

0000-   Patrols of mainland all clear.  Conducted patrols of LYC, all clear as well.

0130-   Patrols all quiet.  Little to no vehicle traffic and no foot traffic in the HOA.  

0300-   All clear, met with security at LYC, who advised all was quiet.

0330-   Out of service

0740-   in service, no new messages, detail called in, 

0900-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles, 

1000-   received call from resident who advised a suspicious dark skin hispanic male was walking in the 1100 block of SE 6th St. acting out of sorts, karate moves and such, he is a known homeless in the area, I kept an eye on him until he leaves the area. 

1025-   suspicious male left the area, back on checks,

1100-   completed checks and a patrol of the mainland, 

1140- out of service
