The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1530: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No new emails or text messages but, four missed calls; three out of the four were for vacation checks which were added to the log (fourth 

went straight to voicemail). Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol. 

1620: Flagged down and met new owner of Huizenga property at 7th / Ponce. 

1735: Added house check (from email) to log.

1740: Received return phone call - house check added to log. 

1800: High visibility patrol. 

1900-1930: Monitoring SE 9th St / 9th Ave for stop sign violators.
1930-2000: Monitoring SE 9th St / Cordova for stop sign violators. 

2030: Continued high visibility patrol through the aisles, mainland, parks, and LYC.

2115: Out of service.

Wednesday, July 03,2019

0545- 10-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0610- Patrol of Rio mainland and the business district along S. Fed. No unusual activity to report.

0700- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Moved 2 boxes to the rear. Flagged down by cement worker who wanted to know what time he can pour. Advised 0800 per code.

0830- Patrol of Isles, bridges and LYC.. Flagged down by resident complaining about traffic congestion along Fed/11 due to Starbucks. 

0840- Added to out of town list.

0900- Patrol of the 11ct alley.

0915- final rounds, remained visible mainland.

0945- 10-7

1845: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No new missed calls or text messages but, one 

out of town email; added to log.

1919: Traffic stop of red light runner coming into Rio from SE 9th ST / Federal - visiting friend 

in Rio >  issued warning UTC. Began high visibility patrol. 

2015: Fourth of July event at LYC. Stood by with Sgt. Williams for a little bit. Continued high 

visibility patrol through mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy. 

2115: Out of service.

Friday, 5 July 2019

0900-   in service, detail called in, one new check added,

1130-   completed checks and a patrol of the isles, 

1300-   completed checks and a patrol of the mainland,

1500-   out of service

1600-  In service, I called the detail in on the Hudson line.  I reviewed the activity log. No new messages left on the phone.

1630-  Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1700-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1720-  Monitored the one way sign at SE 9th Ave & 12 Street.  No violations

1800-  Checked the alleyway behind 11 CT.  All quiet, just a guy walking his two dogs.

1815-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

Friday July 5, 2019

2130- Called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Began patrolling. very quiet. Checked LYC. Very quiet evening all around. 

2230- Continued patrolling the area. Extremely quiet evening. 

2330- Checked the fed highway corridor and main thoroughfares. All clear. 

0030- Continued high visibility along the corridors. All clear and quiet 

0130 checked LYC again all quiet 

0230- continued patrolling the neighborhood.

0330- out of service

0620- return to Rio, began the 30 or so house checks, all appeared to be secure.

0900- Patrol all areas.

0930- Traffic enforcement 9ave

1000- 10-7

1500: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No emails or texts but, one voicemail for an out 

of town check; sent text to resident for clarifying information. Began roving patrol. 

1600: Observed trunk of veh open. 

Upon further inspection, all of the veh windows were down and the rugs were laid out on 

the hood...appears veh owner is airing out the vehicle. Veh is registered to location. 

1700: High visibility patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1800: Non-stop roving patrol. 

1900: Still roving - lots of pedestrian traffic out and about. 

1930: Trespassing call for service; reportee advised a homeless B/M was on the 

property. Subject however was GOA, no report - case # 19-113767.

2000: Flagged down at 11 Ct / Cordova about a possibly intoxicated male walking eastbound; 

made contact with the male who did not exhibit signs of intoxication and advised he was going home.

2040: Educated two H/M’s of fishing license requirements at 1700 blk of SE 10th ST.

2100: Out of service.

0700- quick patrol of the business district along South federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0715- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0915- Quick patrol all areas.

0700-   in service,  

0840-   I was contacted by the resident his vehicle. no longer at his residence, He stated he thinks it might have been stolen. Long story short, the vehicle key was taken from the residence on an unknown date and the car was stolen in the early morning. The owner had to leave for his office and a unit met him there to complete the report. The car was traced to Lauderhill where officers became involved in a chase of the suspects and vehicle. The suspects conducted dangerous driving maneuvers which caused officers to discontinue the chase. The vehicle continued to flee the area. Case #34-1907-114662

Note: end of story is police chopper followed car, detectives followed chopper, 2 arrested, several cars recovered including our residents car.

requesting a new protect rio sign/decal - sign constructed and installed.

1915: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and 11 Ct alleyway; all secure. 

2015: Still roving. 

2115: Out of service. 

Friday, 12 July 2019

1125-   in service, detail called in, no new messages, starting patrol, 

1145-   call from resident ref. Uhaul backed in at home, possible burglary, called back and advised was actually friends picking up items per husband, all clear, 

1430-   completed checks and a slow patrol of the isles area,

1730-   completed checks and a slow patrol of the mainland,

1825-   out of service

2030-   In service, detail called in.  Reviewed log, and began patrols of HOA.

2130-   Patrols all clear, checks of S Fed all clear as well.

2300-   Checks of isles and mainland all clear.

0000-   Continuous high visibility patrols, LYC all clear

0245-   Final check of HOA all clear, little to no vehicle traffic and no pedestrian traffic observed.  Met with security of LYC, who advised all clear.

1035-   driving back around isles after seeing an uber for the 3rd time, can’t find it, back on patrol,

1400-   10-8 called in detail; 2 missed calls. 1 call regarding a B/M on a BOLT scooter driving wrong way in the street. Neighbor felt he was suspicious and kept and eye on him
