The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

0530- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. One new text that has been added to the out of town list. No new voicemails or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Began early morning sweep of the business district along South Federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0630- Patrol of Rio Vista mainland and parks.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0740- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.Moved small package to the rear.

0820- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0845- Remained visible mainland and park areas.

0915- Final rounds.

0930- 10-7

1130: In service, detail called into Hudson line. Reviewed activity log - there are no new emails,

text messages, or missed phone calls. Began roving patrol.

1200: Construction crew hit gas line - numerous FLFR trucks responded -

blocking traffic while fire investigates - Case # 34-1905-076552.

1300: Gas leak capped - back to roving patrol.

1400: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy corridor, 11 Ct alleyway.

1500: Lots of lawn care workers out and about.

1700: Alarm > accidental by homeowner; Case # 34-1905-076734

1800: Out of service.

0530- 10-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new voicemails,texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Visible Rio mainland.

0630- Patrol of S. Fed. no unusual activity to report.

0700- Patrol of the isles, bridges, and LYC..

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0815- Patrol of the 11ct Alley.

0840- Remained visible mainland.

0930- 10-7

1630- called in Hudson line. No voicemail. Patrolled the Rio area

1800- Patrolled isles, LYC and surrounding areas.

1900- Patrolled the area, made contact with suspicious male on boat dock. He was waiting for boat captain.

2000- stopped suspicious vehicle stopped in the middle of road in the 1100 block of SE 9 ave. Person was uber eats driver looking for an address .

1405-    out of service

1630: In service, detail called into Hudson line. No new text messages or missed phone calls.

Email about burglary attempts on Ponce but, unable to view message; email states was

reported already to PD and more of an FYI.

1730: Phone call for legal advice about shooting iguana’s - was provided city ordinance

information and referred to city attorney for accurate legal info and possibly obtaining a permit. Flagged down requesting new Rio sign for their

home which they just sold - Rio car does not have any to give.

1900: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, Fed Hwy corridor. No issues.

2000: Dispatched in reference to a “burglary” suspect seen in the area on a

scooter (Case # 34-1905-077987). Made contact with the reportee who had seen the

protect Rio Vista posting about an early morning burglary attempt with a young  asian male still photo showing him climbing a fence. After extensive searching, I was able to make contact with the female who posted the photo and then ultimately discovered the incident location - the incident [on Tues 5/7] was closed out as an “Information” and from what I gathered, it did not seem to be a “burglary” - the male was possibly intoxicated / mentally unstable. Provided evidence.com link to share video to home owner and referred call to original incident, 34-1905-077059.

0610-    in service, no new messages, detail called in,

0827-     responded with patrol to alarm, all secure malfunction,

1015-    spoke with Z30 in ref. to delayed vehicle burglary SE 10 St., 19-078206, approx. 2:55 AM 4 hooded thin subjects exited a small 4 dr sedan and attempted to open 4 vehicle, accessed 1 and took backpack with laptop,

1045-    completed checks and a loop of the isles,

1300-    found an unlocked door, cleared property and secured the residence with patrol, neighbor attempting contact with homeowner, back on patrol,

1355-    completed checks and loop of mainland,

2000-    In service, detail called in.  No new messages on Rio phone. Patrols began, no suspicious activity to report.

2100-    High visibility patrols, all clear.

2200-    Continuous patrols all clear.

2300-    LYC all clear, no suspicious activity in the HOA.  Minimal vehicle and no pedestrian traffic.

0030 -    Continued high visibility patrols of mainland and isles, all clear.  Met with LYC security who advised all clear as well.

0300-    Final patrols, all clear.  Out of service.

0830-    found an iphone and wallet in the intersection of Cordova and 9 St., returned to owner, who thinks the items fell from a golf cart, didn’t want a report, back on patrol,

0850-    made contact with the missed texter last evening, all is well,

0950-    completed checks and a loop of the isles,

1100-    completed checks and a loop of the mainland,

0740-    in service, detail called in, one new message in reference to an open screen door, I checked the property with no issues, looks like a possible teardown , back on patrol

1900- in service. Called into the Hudson line. No new messages. Started patrol. Checked LYC and appeared clear.

2000- Continued high visibility patrol along main corridors.

2100- Continued patrolling the corridors of Rio.

2200- resumed patrolling the neighborhood

2300- Continued patrolling the area. Very quiet night.

0000- Continued high visibility directed patrol to reduce part one crime

0530- 10-8, I left a message for Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0630, patrol of the business district along S. Fed. No unusual activity to report.

0700- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Moved small package to the rear

0730- Responded to alarm, 10-8 accidental by assistant.

0800- Patrol of bridges, isles, and LYC.. All quiet.

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, to include the 11ct alley.

0900- Remained visible mainland, final rounds.

0930- 10-7.

1500: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, text messages or

missed phone calls. Began high visibility roaming patrol.

1700: Roaming - light rain here and there but, overall quiet.

1900: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor. All quiet.

    Verbal warning to motorist for one-way violation.

2011: Hold up residential alarm. Made contact with homeowner whom advised was

accidental by her rambunctious two year old child. No report, 34-1905-081004

2100: Out of service.

2100- In service. Called into the Hudson line. Began routine patrol. Quiet eve. Checked LYC and it was nearly empty.

2145- Added to out of town log as per the homeowner's text message indicated.

2245- continuous patrol with overhead lights on. The detour on Fed highway is introducing many different non residents to the community. I tried stopping a Vespa and a 13 vehicle at SE 9 and 6 st and they boogied towards Fed like a bat out of hell. Too far to catch up to them.

0000- out of service for the evening

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks, upon checking it was discovered that the west utility door has been left unlocked.

0840- Patrol of the isles, bridges, and LYC..

0915- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0940- Final rounds.

1815    Attemped to pick up new signs

1930    Traffic stop for stop sign violation.  Warning given.

2015    Picked up new signs!!

0700-    in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol,

0830-    RAIN!!

1021-    responded to a 911 hang-up, rear door was unlocked, property checked with no issues or persons inside, cleared call, I will stop by later to check on owners,

1220-    completed loops of the Isles and mainland

1500-    completed all checks, out of service

1855: Residential alarm (non-HOA member). Checked front of

residence, all secure, left door hanger and coded malfunction - case # 34-1905-082104.

1932: Backed up officers on civil dispute at Valentino restaurant, 620 S Fed Hwy. No report,

    case # 34-1905-082089

2000: Delivered Rio sign from request last week. Attempted phone contact to

advise sign was delivered but, no answer.

2030: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor with

cruise and alley lights on.

2115: Out of service

Friday, 17 May 2019

0600-    in service, one vacation removal, detail called in, starting patrol,

0800-    patrol of the Hemingway, LYC and Isles,

1015-    stopped at Bethany to assist detail unit,

1329-    all checks complete, responded reference a panic alarm, resident was home and okay, accidental,

1400-    out of service

1600-  In service,  I reviewed the activity log.  Two new emails messages left on the phone.   Both addresses were added to the vacation log.

1630-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.

1700-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1730-  Conducted out of town check.  All secure.

1800-   Patrolled business along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Checked the alleyway behind SE 11th Court.  Just a guy walking his dog.

1845-  Final check of mainland and isles.

1900-  Out of service.

2045-    In service.  Call received from resident in reference to a suspicious male in front of the park.  The reportee also explained that he had a conversation with the male and it didn’t appear that there was any ill intentions, however wanted the incident checked out.  The male’s vehicle was located and it was determined that he lived near the area, however the male was not located (reportee stated that he jogged off after a conversation).  The male later returned and recovered his vehicle.

2230-    Continued high visibility patrols of the HOA, no suspicious activity was observed.

2245-    Check of LYC all clear, still very busy.

0000-    Continued high visibility checks, all clear.

0100-    Checks all clear

0300-    Continued checks of HOA and isles, as well as businesses along S Fed all clear.  Armadillo sighting on SE 11th St isle. Not kidding.

0345-    Out of service.
