The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

2135    Responded to call of noise.  Caller stated house was rented to loud spring breakers.  Heard some noise from the back. Contacted the renter who agreed to keep the noise down.

0515- Patrol of the business district along South federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0545- Patrol of the 11Ct/12St alley, no unusual activity to report.

0615- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, all quiet.

0700- School bus stop patrol, remained visible mainland.

0745- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0815- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0830- Final rounds.

0845- 10-7.

1630: Concerned resident from 10th St aisle requested a well-being check of a “possibly naked”

W/F wearing a blanket who was running on the sidewalk, southbound from Davie / Federal. Patrol units tied up > canvassed the area with negative results.

1715: Construction site parking at 721 SE 7th ST clear.

1807: Audible alarm. All appeared secure, poss. malfunction. Case #

19-051694. Called and left voicemail to advise resident of findings.

1915: 11 CT alleyway clear. Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed

Hwy.

2000: Heavy rain/lightning moving in, knocking out power all over the city. Still roving.

2045: Secured 30 mins early per Lt request - severe power outages downtown/in d2.

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

0530- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There is one new voicemail from in reference to an unknown male in her rear fenced yard. I will attempt to make contact with her this morning. There are no new emails, or texts. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0630- Patrol of the alley way.

0700- Patrol of the business district along S. Fed. no unusual activity to report.

0720- School bus stop patrol.

0750- Began and complete the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Stopped by residence located in reference to the unknown W/M banging on her rear slider. Contact was made with resident who stated that she was in her kitchen with her assistant when they heard loud banging, as they approached the rear sliders there was W/M yelling for help bleeding from his legs who then laid down and began to bang his head on the pavers. PD/EMS arrived and transported. Resident was extremely concerned because her 15 year old daughter was supposed to be home alone at the time of the incident. I reiterated the fact that they did an outstanding job by having all doors locked and calling 911 ASAP.

0900- Final rounds.

1600    Flagged down by lost motorist looking for Dania Beach.  I pointed them south.

1840    Checked parking area of Yacht Club.  All secure

2015    Traffic stop for one way violation at SE 9 Ave.  Lost motorist. Warning given.

2040    Traffic stop for one way violation at SE 9 Ave.  Local resident. Warning given.

0900-    in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol,

0910-    traffic stop 9 Ave & 11 Ct one-way, warning issued, back on patrol,

1032-    received a call ref. noise heard near carport, responded and found no evidence of persons on property, lawn workers were nextdoor making a lot of noise, could have echoed through the carport. all clear and back on patrol,

1205-    another quick traffic stop on 9 St and Cordova, reminded driver to stop at the stop sign, warned and back on patrol,

1500-    completed a loop of the Hemingway, LYC and Isles, raining on and off, big wind today,

1658-    Resident called in ref. to a parking issue at 9 Ave & 6 Ct. Black truck parked on side of road, observed truck and observed no violation

1800-    completed all checks, just roving,

1900-    out of service

0600-    in service, one new vacation check added, detail called in, starting patrol,

0900-    completed all checks and a loop of Isles and mainland,

1200-    sat watching the stop signs on the isles, many traffic violations at the stop signs, numerous verbal warnings given,

1400-    out of service

1430-  In service,  I left message with Carol.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new messages left on the Rio phone.

1445-  I responded to a police call regarding a Ford  F150 blocking the driveway. I made contact with the owner and had him move his vehicle. 34-1903-053338.

1515-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.

1645-  Checked the alleyway behind SE 11th Court.  All clear.

1720-  Conducted vacation check.  All secure.

1730-  Out of service.

2015-    In service, detail called in.  Reviewed logs and began high visibility patrols of isles and mainland.

2130-    Call for service received about a noise complaint in the area of Cordova and SE 10th st.  Area circulated and nothing was located. Caller did not want contact.

2230-    Continued patrols of LYC and isles were all clear.

2330-    Patrols of HOA all clear.  Traffic conducted for a stop sign violation at Ponce and SE 9 st.  Warning given to lost Uber driver.

0030-    Patrols all clear.  LYC all clear. And side note….. bathroom is out of service for a few weeks.

0230-    Assisted patrol with a call for service at SE 13th St and S Federal Highway in reference to a female behind the car dealership screaming and in distress.  I located the male, who was yelling on his phone and left without incident. Call referred to patrol

0315-    Out of service.

Saturday, 30 March 2019

0620-    in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol,

0720-    conducted checks of the Hemingway and LYC, all appears secure,

0820-     still on patrol,

0920- completed checks on the Isles, heading to the mainland

1000-    resident complained about stop sign violators at 9 Ave and S. Rio,

1120-    out of service

1435    Traffic stop for stop sign at SE 9St/9 Ave.  Teen visiting friend in neighborhood. Warning given.  

1530    Traffic stop for one way on SE 9 Ave.  Lost motorist. Warning given.

1800-      Began roving patrols

    Flagged down by resident regarding a moving truck and where would be    

appropriate to park. I advised him of parking restrictions. He stated the truck would be    

moved the following morning.

2300-    Back in service-

All Isles patrolled

0055-    Received a phone call regarding loud music coming from residence. I was able to locate and could hear very loud music coming from the rear of the house and could be heard in the street. A neighbor flagged me down as I was walking to the residence and said thank you, that music is way too loud. I knocked for several minutes w/ no anwer due to the music being too loud. I retrieved the master list and phoned the listed number for the residence. After a second round of knocking and no answer. I shined a light from my vehicle and continued knocking. A white male came to the door and confirmed he was the homeowner. I informed him that there were two noise complaints and if he could please lower the music.

Tuesday, April 02,2019

0600-  10-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new voicemails,texts, or emials. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of mainland and parks.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0740- Patrol of business district along S. Fed. all quiet.

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0900- Patrol of 12ct alley.

0930- final rounds.

1300: In service. There are no new emails, text messages, or missed calls. As I was reviewing the

activity log, a parking complaint came in about construction vehicles

blocking a fire hydrant and “obstructing the view”. Although there were numerous vehicles, one [occupied] vehicle was blocking a hydrant - had the driver move the vehicle w/o incident; no vehicular driveways were blocked. Case # 34-1904-055704. Began roving patrol.

1400: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, 11 CT alleyway, and Fed Hwy.

1500: Still roving. Nice and cloudy with lots of construction / landscape vehicles out.

1600: called again about construction parking. Two vehicles

moved w/o incident. Case # 34-1904-055807.

1630: Received email from Mark Snead to deliver sign to new member but, no signs are

available / in the Rio car; left Carole a voicemail to obtain some / notify us.

1730: Continued non-stop roving patrol. Beautiful day out.

1830: Light rain moving through.

1900: Out of service.

2100- Called into the Hudson line. No messages to report

2105- Began directed patrol. Weaves throughout the Rio community. Very quiet evening  LYC was also checked in the process.

2210- returned to base. Continued patrolling.

2300- Continued patrolling the corridors. Nothing moving.

0000- checked the Federal highway corridor. Very quiet.

0100- drove around the community. Nothing to report. Extremely quiet.

0200- out of service

Wednesday, April 03, 2019

0600- 10-8,  I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0700- Return to Rio, school bus stop patrol.

0740- Patrol of 12ct alley and Rio mainland and parks.

0815- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0930- Final rounds. Many residents out and about.

1000- 10-7

2000- Called into the Hudson line. 1 text message regarding a 21 but follow text advised disregard.

Began patrolling the Rio neighborhood. Lots of vehicles and pedestrian floating around. I remained highly viable as I cruised throughout the community. LYC was packed. Must have an event. Cruised the lot. Nothing 13 observed.

2100- Continued patrolling the neighborhood. Getting quieter.

2225- received a call from homeowner on SE 7 st advising that his son observed 2 BM in a sedan parked in front of street. I drove to the area and did not observe suspect or their vehicle.

2320- assisted patrol in a kidnapping call at 84/Fed. Officers located culprit car and stopped it at Andrews and Davie. However no crime occurred.

0020-  Continued high visibility patrol. Very quiet night

0120- checked LYC and surrounding areas. Also checked the federal highway corridor

0220- Monitored the Rio community. Nothing is moving. Drive around with overhead lights on for deterrence.

0400- secured for the night.

Thursday April 4th, 2019

1015: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, texts, or missed phone

calls. Reviewed activity log and did drive by checks because of the rain; will do physical

out of town checks when the rain lets up. Began roving patrol.

1115: Completed out of town checks. Began non-stop roving patrol.

1215: Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1315: Nice and cloudy, lots of construction vehicles.

1415: Flat tire swapped out / Out of service.

1415-    in service, no new messages, detail called in, arrived while Westway changed the tire, conducted traffic control, stop a one-way driver and issued a stern warning, starting patrol,

1420-    assisted homeowner with Egyptian geese in roadway,

1630-    completed a loop of the Isles

1920-    completed a patrol of the mainland

2015-    out of service

Friday, 5 April 2019

0730-    in service, no new messages or calls, detail called in, starting patrol,

0930-    completed checks and a loop of the Hemingway, LYC and the Isles,

1120- completed a loop of the mainland

1130-    out of service

1400- In service, left message for Carol.  I reviewed activity log. One new email left on the phone.   I added address to the vacation log.

1430-  Patrolled the yacht club, isles and bridges.

1600-  Conducted vacation check.  All secure

2200-    Continued high visibility patrols.  Call for service received on at the 1500 block of SE 12th St in reference to a noise disturbance from a party.  Patrol assisted in the response, and the reportee was anonymous.

Saturday, 6 April 2019

0550-    in service, one new message in ref. to a found garage door opener, detail called in, starting patrol,

0800-    driving around trying to avoid a run through Rio today, on patrol, very busy

1035-    stopped by to pick up the found garage remote, no one was home, finished checks and patrol of the Isles,
