The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

 0600- 10-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of the business district along S. fed, all quiet.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of the isles, bridges, LYC., and Hemingway Landings.

0900- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0930- Final rounds, heavy traffic days due to the bulk pick-up, regular trash pick up, school ETC.  

The high tides are in effect and are beginning to take over Cordova!!!!!!

1000- 10-7  

1630: Detail called into Hudson line. Three missed phone calls > telemarketers or invalid

numbers upon callback. There are no new emails or text messages. Reviewed the activity

log and began roving patrol.

1700: Quite a few people enjoying Virginia Young Park > what I wouldn’t give to be young

again.

1714: Made contact with 14 year old W/F, golf cart () driver as she pulled into her

residence. Although she was not driving reckless, she was advised she

needed a FL drivers license to legally operate the golf cart on the public roadway; parents were not home.

1745: Monitored one way; no violators.

1800: Stoodby with patrol units a CPIS investigation; patrol handled

18-146475.

1830: Roving patrol of parks, LYC, Fed Hwy, aisles, and mainland.

1930: Out of service.

0700- 10-8, I left a message with carol. There are no new emails, texts, or voicemails. I reviewed the activity log.

0715- School bus stop patrol.

0740- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0810- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0930- Patrol od business district along South Fed. and the 11Ct alley.

0945- Final rounds.

Thursday, September 13th 2018 

0800-    10-8 called in detail; 1 missed call but no voicemail

    Began house checks

1009-    Call from resident. He had just got into a back and forth with a construction company doing work. They were blocking his driveway. I went and spoke to the employees and informed them that they are not allowed to block driveways or trash cans.

1126     Call from resident advising she was thanking for all the cards left during vacation checks while she was away.

0645-    in service, no new messages, 1 sales call same number over and over, called in detail, starting checks

0900-    completed checks on the mainland

1100-    completed checks of LYC, Hemingway and Isles.

1500-  In service, I called the detail into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log. No new messages left on the phone.

1530-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.


1600-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1700-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1730-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1800-  Out of service.

Saturday, September 15th 1018

1300-    10-8 called in detail; added one vacation check to log

    Returned 2 missed calls with no answer

    Began vacation checks

1358- Downed power line in front of Ponce De Leon. Requested FPL via Records.

1434-    stopped juvenile in the 1800 block of SE 7th st- - per NCIC tag does not exist. parents were contacted and given a warning that he is not to be operating golf cart.

1522- Stopped juvenile operating a dirt bike- not street legal in the 1000 block of cordova. Golf cart with 4 juveniles also tailing behind him. I was only able to make contact with him as he jumped off the dirt bike upon sight of me. He was given a warning. His mother was also contacted and advised if found riding, dirt bike would be confiscated.

1703- Alert Tone call of a vehicle vs a tree at SE 10th street and Fed…..subject seen running towards Ponce De Leon Dr. Responded to Ponce and Fed…...subject located by patrol in front of Animal hospital

1907    Dispatched  anonymous call of loud party at SE 6th ct and SE 9th Ave- drove by the home at location; no loud music being played but there was a large gathering in the backyard of resident. The noise was reasonable for size of crowd- all adults

2003    While patrolling on SE 10th st, one fisherman. - verified last week

1648-    Resident called to let us know a backpack was found on his property that belonged to his neighbor. The neighbors had a vehicle burglary last night. the bag was collected by the resident to be returned to owner. Contact could not be made with the resident.

1920    Traffic stop at SE 9 St/ fed for red light.  Warning given

2010    Call from resident of suspicious male on N. Rio near SE 9 Ave who was walking back and forth and had used a porta potty at a construction site.  Contacted subject who had no reason for being in area. Claimed to be headed to a friends in Wilton Manors. No warrants, agreed to check of his backpack.  Sent from area. Called back reportee and advised.

0600-  10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway, no unusual activity to report. Also patrol of 11 ct due to recent activity.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0800- Patrol of the isles, bridges, and LYC..

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, the rain has subsided so many residents are out for their morning exercise routines.

0900- Remained visible mainland area.

0930- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7

1815: In service. Detail called into Hudson line and reviewed the activity log. There are no new

emails or text messages but, 8 missed phone calls; 6 of the calls were inoperable /

telemarketers. One voicemail left and spoke with concerned resident about a fellow resident who was observed walking unleashed dogs (at 1800 hours) - because of time delay, caller was advised to phone when observed again.

1835: Silent / panic alarm. Made contact with resident whom advised

everything was 10-4. Phone number in Rio log’s was outdated -> obtained and updated

log with new number and completed Police Assist report, 18-150659.

1930: Non-stop roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, LYC, and Fed Hwy corridor w/ cruise &

alley lights on.

2115: Out of service.

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. One missed call from telemarketer, no new texts. One new email from member who stated her vehicle was rummaged through (Ill attempt contact throughout shift).

0630- Visible in the SW sector of Rio, no unusual activity to report.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0745- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0900- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0940- Stopped by residence in reference to the 21V. stated the vehicle was most likely unlocked, nothing missing, but rummaged through. Does not request a report. Cameras are currently in-op.

1705    Located dog walking in the street apparently alone.  Located owner nearby and reunited.

1710    Gave directions to lost elderly motorist

1730    Removed vagrant from property at Starbucks at request of staff

1805    Responded to emergency back-up of patrol officer; cancelled while enroute.

1925    Checked Yacht Club

1945    Flagged down reference burglary auto.  Responded to SE 10 St. Vehicle possibly left unlocked and rummaged through between Monday and today.  Processed for prints and recovered good print. Report taken 18-151290

Thursday September 20th, 2018

0630: In service. Detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, texts, or missed calls.

Beginning out of town checks.

0709: Resident called and advised she had found a bunch of credit cards & FL DL of

a B/F from the NW part of the city in the swale area; possible victim of a burglary /

robbery. Contacted D2 officer to respond and attempt to make contact.

0745: Finished out of town checks while awaiting word from D2 officer. Monitoring school zone

in the meantime.

0805: Flagged down reference auto burglary at SE 8th ST. Vehicle left unlocked and

rummaged through but, no loss -> vehicle owner in rush to go to work, declined report.

0820: D2 officer unable to make contact w/ property owner. Recovered items will be placed in

FLPD evidence for return to owner at end of shift. Found property report, 18-151500.

Non-stop roving patrol of parks, mainland, aisles, and LYC.

0830: Flagged down reference auto burglary S Rio Vista Blvd. Vehicle left unlocked and

rummaged through; registration taken -> vehicle owner declined report.

0930: Eventually made contact with found property owner via phone -> stated her vehicle was

burglarized several days ago at SE 6th ST but, never made a report.

1000: Securing from the neighborhood to go to station and place recovered items in evidence.

1030: Out of service.

1105-    in service, called in detail, no new messages, starting patrol

0610-    in service, 2 missed calls - 1 message- message was vacation check ( I will return secord call after 9 am), added check, 1 new email reference vacation check - added, starting patrol and checks

1247-    completed loop of mainland, Isles, LYC, and Hemingway. Left 2 checks for afternoon not sure if they left yet.

1600-  In service, I called the detail into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log. One new email left on the phone.  

1630-  Patrolled the yacht club, isles and bridges.  All quiet and no fisherman fishing.

1700-  Conducted vacation checks.  All three homes were secure. I moved an envelope that was delivered to the back patio.

1730-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.

1800-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

Saturday, 22 September 2018

0500-    in service, called in detail, no new messages, starting patrol

0640-    Resident called from out of town to advise 1 of his cars was stolen from SE 5 Ct sometime overnight. There is no one home at the moment but they will call back as soon as they return (in several hours). I drove over to the address and found no signs of the theft (broken glass, etc).

Back on patrol until they return to make the report.

0800-    still checking and patrolling

1100-    stopped by to drop off a card for the S-10 report as the owner arrived, she asked if we could come by a little later to take the report due to just arriving home.

1200        Responded to take Signal 10 report from - Infiniti struck stolen from driveway- overnight time delay. Homeowner at across the street has a RING doorbell, i had the son relay to his mom to check the system
