The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1600    10-8, no messages

1750    Patrolling the mainland.  Quiet afternoon

2000    Checked Yacht club

2045    Call from residentof a suspicious older white 4 dr SUV driven by a hispanic male.  Drove slowly by the house 3 times and then seemed to follow her mother. She is concerned because the suspect in her burglary was arraigned today.  I checked the area, GOA. Followed her mother home and restaged the car nearby.

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0815- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC. All quiet,

0850- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0900- Received a call from member who requested a drive by during tenting. Added to out of town list.

0920- Patrol of business district along S. Fed., all quiet.

1800: In service, called detail into Hudson line. One missed [telemarketer] phone call. No new

emails or text messages. Had friendly conversation with resident mowing the grass where

rio car was parked and spoke with resident about having people do community service washing police cars.  Reviewed activity log and began roving patrol.

1830: Out of town check received via email, added to log.

1845-1900: Monitor one way for traffic violators; no violators.

2000: Continued roving patrol of aisles, mainland, LYC, Fed Hwy, and parks.

2048: Made contact with three, unlicensed fishing subjects in 1700 blk of SE 10th ST.

Warned/educated them of licensing requirements.

2115: Out of service.

Wednesday, August 29, 2018

0600-  10-8, I left a message with carol. There was one new voicemail from who wanted to advise of a male on a bike carrying some back packs and to be on the “watch”. No other emails or texts. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0700-  Patrol of the 11Cy alley. All clear.

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol od isles, bridges, and LYC..

0900- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

I checked up on a warrant and made contact with the brother in-law who stated subject is currently upstate NY  

0930- Final rounds.

1800    Patrols.  Not much activity.  

1945    Checked Yacht Club.  Quiet.

Thursday August 30th, 2018

1230: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There were three missed phone calls, three

emails. On callback, two phone numbers were non-working and left a voicemail for the

third. Several vacation checks added to log. Began out of town checks.

1255: Received return phone call - vacation check added.

1400: Almost done with out of town checks.

1430: Finished out of town checks - quick patrol of the neighborhood before securing.

1500: Out of service.

1500-    in service, called in detail, no new messages, starting patrol, responded with patrol to an alarm, all appeared secure

1700-    patrol, patrol, patrol

1900-    out of service, quiet evening

0705-    in service, called in detail, no new messages, starting checks and patrol

0900-    still checking houses in the RAIN!

1100-    completed mainland checks, there is a bunch of power trucks in the area trimming trees, nice.

1305-    completed checks and all appeared secure, out of service

1305-  In service, I left a message with Carol.  I reviewed the activity log. No new messages left on the phone.

1330-  I patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.  The bridges and 10th street were all clear. No fisherman.  

1400- Patrolled the mainland and parks.  The parks were empty.

1430-  I was dispatched to an alarm.  I made contact with the housekeeper who accidentally set off the alarm.  I closed out the alarm as accidental.

1500-    Monitored traffic for school dismissal at Bethany.  Issued two warnings for drivers who were driving W/B in the E/B lanes trying to get around traffic.  

1530-  Received a call on the Rio phone regarding going out of town.  I added the address to the Rio log.

1545-  Received a call on the Rio phone.  He was concerned that a Ford XLT was driving very slowly in the 900 block of Cordova Rd with its flashers on.  I observed the vehicle at that location. I made contact with city worker (Infrastructure Task Force) who advised me he was inspecting the sea wall for a future project.  I called back the reportee and advised him on my findings.

Saturday, 1 September 2018

0300-    in service, called in detail, no new messages

0311- responded to possible burglary in progress very intoxicated W/M attempted to go home at the wrong address. no wants or warrants and placed in an Uber home, back on patrol

0515-    on patrol with cruise lights on, not much traffic

0700-    starting property checks

0900-    completed mainland checks

1100-    out of service

1900-     10-8 called in detail

    Began vacation checks

1934-    Check of the Isles- 3 males at the end of SE 10th st fishing. 1 had no permit, 1 expired         permit, 1 “left his permit at home. They were all asked to clean up their belongings and

leave.

1942 - Traffic stop conducted in the 1000 of Cordova on three female juveniles on a golf cart.

Golf cart was being operated by 16year old. She was given a warning and informed that no one without a valid license is allowed to operate the golf cart, not even in the neighborhood

2053    Returned to SE 10th st; all clear of fisherman

1024- an unoccupied Golf Cart running in front of 900 SE 9th st. Upon checking the residence, homeowner came out to garage for the golf cart.

1111-    while driving 10th street Isles, 8-10 juveniles hanging out by the water. 3 juveniles took off when I pulled up. A white F-150 Truck FL Tag: parked under “No Parking signs” the truck was being driven by with a Valid FL ID.

He was operating a golf cart with 3 female passengers. Valid DL check.

was issued a warning for parking in a “No Parking Zone”, was advised to take his crowd into his house.

1119- while typing out log, male from earlier returned to fish. - his fishing permit was verified.

1100-    in service, called in detail, no new messages, starting checks

1145-     horrible rain, conducting stop/drive-bys of the checks

1300-    still on patrol and checks

1500-    checks complete, all appear secure, out of service

2115- Called into the Hudson line. Checked messages and nothing to report. Began patrolling the Rii corridors. Very quiet due to rainy eve.

2215- continued patrolling. Checked LYC and it was clear. Checked the Rio corridors and very quiet

2315- continued patrolling the area. Stormy weather hit our city. Cats and dogs

0015- continued high visibility patrol all quiet

0115- checked and monitored the Federal highway corridor. All clear.  

0215- end of shift.  


Monday, September 3rd 2018 

0800-    10-8 called in detail

    Roving patrol- currently raining

0900    Patrol of the Isles and begin house checks by drive by   

    Still raining

1000    return to Isles to begin house check

    Large tree down in Abreau Park (SE 9th Ave and NRV) Public works was notified, and         email sent to supervisor

1058    Audible alarm coming from guest window - all clear, resident advised that they were having issues with the window, possible alarms to continue until security company can come out

1100    Roving at LYC and Hemmingway

September 04, 2018

0600-  10-8, I left a message with Carol. Two new voicemails in reference to a S-13P walking Eastbound on 7St approx 1300hrs. No new texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of the business district along South Federal Highway, all quiet.

0700- Patrol of LYC..

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of isles, bridges and parks.

0900- Patrol of Rio mainland.

0930- Final rounds.

1000- 10-7

1815: In service. SEVEN missed phone calls. No new text messages or emails. Beginning to

return phone calls…Three calls were inoperable phone numbers/full mailbox. Three calls

were in reference to same out of town check -> added to log. Last call -> left voicemail.    

1845: Began roving patrol.

1955: Back in Rio / Roving patrol. Intermittent rain.

2115: Parked Rio car in center median area due to ants invading the car. Out of service.

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0620- Early morning sweep of 11ct alley and the business district along south Fed., no unusual activity ro report.

0700- School bus stop patrol.

0745- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0840-  Patrol of LYC, Isles and bridges.

0910- Patrol of Rio mainland, parks, and school area.

0935- Final rounds.

Thursday September 6th, 2018

0730: In service. Detail called into Hudson line. Two missed emails or two missed phone calls.

Emails = vacation checks added to log. Unable to leave voicemails for phone calls. Began

out of town checks.

0830: Out of town checks complete, begin roving patrol.

0845: Monitor for one-way violators. Flagged down for out of town check -> added to log.

0900: Returned to station for avl upgrade.

0945: Back in Rio -> Roving patrol of aisles, mainland, LYC, parks, and Fed Hwy corridor.

1045: Lots of construction vehicles and lawn care workers.

1130: Out of service.

1130-    in service, no new messages, detail called in, starting patrol

1330-    super amount of traffic today, workers everywhere, completed a loop of the mainland and starting on the Isles.

1530-    out of service

Friday, 7 September 2018

0605-    in service, no new messages, called in detail, starting patrol and vacation checks

0820-    completed checks and a loop of the Isles, LYC and the Hemmingway. Conducting traffic control at one-way street

1 written warning issued

0845-    back on patrol and checks

1150- completed all checks, routine patrol

1305-    out of service,

1600-  In service,  I called the detail into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log. No new messages left on the phone.  A message was left in the Rio car to do out of town checks

1630-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.  No fisherman today.

1700-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1730-  Conducted vacation checks at the above listed addresses

1800-  Patrolled the mainland and parks.  No one at the parks because of the rain ealier.

1830-  Final patrol of mainland and isles.

                                                       

2015-    In service, finally found the car!  Reviewed the logs and met with staff at BCS (Scott) who was securing the building.  Advised all was quiet. No new calls or emails on the Rio phone. One text message was received.  She complained of a male with a sign at the intersection of Fed and 7th st. Upon start of shift, no one was observed there.

2130-    Checks of isles and LYC all clear.  Moved along a few vehicles parked along sea wall at the end of SE 10th St.  Neighborhood all clear.

2230-    Continued high visibility patrol of neighborhood and isles, all clear.

2330-    Patrols of mainland all clear.  Minimal traffic throughout the HOA. Assisted patrol on a traffic stop at 1000 blk S Federal Highway.

0100-    BCS all clear, neighborhood and isles clear of any suspicious activity.

0200-    Continued high visibility patrols all clear.  Check of LYC all clear,

0215-    During patrols, the garage to residence was found to be open.  Upon further inspection, nothing appeared to be disturbed or suspicious.  I attempted contact at the door but got no answer. I left a card explaining my findings at the front door.

0300-    Final patrols all clear

0315-    Out of service
