The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

0800- 10-8 called in detail- reviewed logs

0904- Red Toyota Corolla- parked in front of a fire hydrant at SE 9th st. I located the owner asked her to reposition her vehicle so that she was not blocking the hydrant

1000-    LYC, Hemmingway

1059-    Made contact with the General Contractor regarding a pile of lawn trash that was left in front. He stated that he would contact the homeowner and have them contact the lawn company to move the debris. Will leave a message for the Tuesday morning officer.

0545- 10-8, I left a message with carol, There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0620- Patrol of business district along S. Fed.

0700- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0730- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

Received text, added to out of town log

0830- patrol of 11Ct alley.

0900- Remained mainland area.

0930- Final rounds.

0945- 10-7

1815: In service. There are no new emails, calls, or texts.

A portion of Rio is out of power and there are quite a few downed branches / debris in the roadway because of the heavy storms that passed through earlier. Numerous FPL trucks throughout conducting repairs.

1845: Reunited loose dog, “Penny”, owner appreciative. Completed one out of town check. Roving patrol.

1915: Continued patrol of mainland, aisles, parks, and LYC.

2115: Out of service.

0000- Checked LYC. Nothing out of the ordinary occurring.

0100- continued patrolling Rio community. All quiet

0200- checked S. Fed corridors. All business as usual

0300- corridor check again. Rio clear. No vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

0400- out of service.

0630- 10-8, I left a message with carol, there are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0700- Patrol of business district along South Federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0730- Patrol of school bus stop and the 11Ct alley

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0900- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0920- Received a call from Carol who needed to confirm Rio hours for last week.

0930- Final rounds.

Thursday April 12th, 2018

0730: In service. Detail called into Hudson line. One missed phone call (telemarketer). No other new messages or emails, reviewed activity log, and began out of town checks.

0830: Checks complete. Began roving patrol.

0930: Continued roving patrol of aisles, mainland, parks, and LYC.

Vacation check drive bys for the evening.

Patrol mainland and check isles.

Continue proactive patrol with cruise lights.

2100 out of service.

Friday, April 13, 2018   

0700-    in service, no new emails, messages or texts, called detail and wished them a Happy Friday 13th, starting patrol of mainland

1000-    completed checks

1300-    out of service, quiet day

1630- I responded to a police service call at SE 9 Ave & 12 Street.  Caller advised there was a W/M wearing a polo shirt and khakis jumping out of the bushes and taking pictures of drivers when they violate the one way sign.  Upon my arrival the subject was GOA. I monitored traffic in the area, and did not observe any traffic violations. Case 34-1804-058434.

1700-    I patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.  I made contact with two individuals fishing at the bridge on SE 7th Street and Cordova.  Both subjects provided me a copy of their fishing licenses. I reminded both subjects not to leave a mess.  Subjects left the area 10 minutes later.

1800-    Patrolled the mainland and parks.  Also monitored the one way sign at SE 9 Ave & 12 Street

1830-    Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-  Out of service.

2030-    Detail called in to security patrol line, and in service.  Reviewed log, and there were no new messages on the security phone.

2100-     Patrols of mainland and isles.  All clear

2130-    Continued high visibility patrols of mainland and isles.  Traffic stop conducted conducted at Rio Vista and SE 9th Ave for a stop sign violation.  Driver was a delivery driver, who was very apologetic and trying to make his deliveries.  Driver was issued a warning. No other activity observed.

2230-    Continued high visibility patrols, all clear

0000-    Patrols with no activity.  Minimal traffic and no pedestrian traffic observed.

0145-    Patrols of neighborhood streets and isles all clear.

0215-    LYC all clear

0300-    Isles and surface streets all clear

1205-    in service, no new messages, called in detail, starting patrol and checks

1445-    the neighbor stopped me and voiced her concerns with the young kids driving the golf carts. I explained we will listen to her concerns. She would like enforcement of this issue.

1510-    completed vacation checks

1605-    out of service

 

2200- Called in to Hudson line. Checked all messages.

2300- Continued patrolling the corridors. All is quiet. Checked LYC and all was very quiet.

0000-  S. Fed highway corridor is clear of vagrants and prostitutes and very quiet.

0100- Drove the Rio corridor. Very quiet. No pedestrians or vehicle movement.

0200- out of service.

Monday, April 16, 2018 

1530    10-8, no messages

1645    Completed vacation checks

1840    Traffic stop on vehicle travelling the wrong way on Ponce.  Driver was from Finland just taking a look at the area and did not realize.  Warning given.

1900    Monitored one way for violations.  Several backed out after seeing me in the area.

2000    Continuing patrols thorugh the area.  Watching for golf carts ref complaint

2130    Checked Yacht club.  Quiet.

Tuesday, April 17, 2018  

0700-  10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails,texts, or emails.I reviewed the activity log. Early morning patrol of the 11Ct Alleyway, no unusual activity to report.

0730- Resident called in reference to his 2016 Infiniti that has been stolen from his driveway. He already called dispatch. Checked in with resident who stated he parked his Infinity Q80 in his driveway, locked and secured the vehicle and it was GOA this morning before 0700. He stated that he has the keys and it is evident there is no sign of a glass break. 54 on tow. As of now there is nothing on the neighbors cameras.

0915- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0940- Patrol of all areas.

1900-2000: Assisted patrol with a child abuse/neglect call for service

2000: Roving patrol of aisles, LYC, mainland, parks.

2034: Flagged down by resident to update his out of town check information.    

2040: Made contact with 7th ST fishermen - licensed and reminded to clean up after themselves.

2100: Continued roving patrol with alley and cruise lights on.    

2115: Out of service.

Thursday April 19th, 2018

0700: In service, detail called into Hudson line. There are no new emails, texts, or missed phone calls. Reviewed activity log and began out of town checks.

0730: While performing check, east sliding door was unlocked and I set off alarm after pulling it open. Interior was checked with nothing suspicious noted; construction worker may have left it unlocked on accident. Report taken on a Information.

0815: Out of town checks complete. Began roving patrol of aisles, parks, LYC, mainland, 11 CT alleyway, and Fed Hwy corridor.

0845: Out of Service.

0905-    In service, detail called in. There are no new emails, texts, or missed phone calls. Reviewed activity log and starting patrol.

1005-    patrol of North End of mainland  , no issues. I spoke with caretaker for the Huizenga property

1115-    completed a loop of the mainland, spoke to several maintenance persons about their speed while driving. No other issues. Starting loop of LYC and Isles.

1251-    still patrolling the Isles, very busy with workers

1405-    completed a loop of the isles, sat several of the stop signs, 2 traffic stops with warnings.

1505-    out of service, I saw one golf cart all shift, ONE!

Friday, April 20, 2018 

0700-    in service, called in detail, one new vacation check which was added, starting patrol of mainland.

0914-    completed a loop of the mainland, super busy with lawn guys today

1100-    still on patrol, sitting different stop sign along the way

1202-    completed vacation checks

1300-    out of service

1600-  In service.  I called the detail into Carol.  I reviewed the activity log. One new email on the phone.  It was from Mark Snead to drop off a sign with a sticker

1630-  I dropped off Rio sign.  No one was home so I left the sign by the front door.

1700-  Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.

1730-   I patrolled the mainland and parks.  I was flagged down in the 1200 block of N. Rio by a citizen.  The citizen advised there was a Golden Retriever running around without a leash or an owner nearby.  I circulated in the area, but the dog was gone.

1800-  Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1830-    Final patrol of isles and mainland

1900-    Out of service.

2100-    In service, detail called in.  I reviewed previous logs, and check the security phone as well.  No new messages or calls.

2200-    Continued patrols of neighborhood and isles, all clear.

2245-    Call for service made by unknown party of a male passed out in the 1000 blk of S Rio Vista.  Contact was made with Fire Rescue, who advised that the male was intoxicated and had left prior to my arrival.  I circulated the neighborhood however the male could not be located. Call was referred to FLFD. High visibility patrols continued with little to no activity observed in the Rio Vista neighborhood.

0030-    Continued patrols, with no traffic observed (pedestrian or vehicle).

0055-    Traffic stop conducted at 9 Ave and N Rio Vista in reference to a stop sign violation at 9 St and Cordova.  Driver was warned and reminded of traffic laws.

0130-    Neighborhood all quiet

0215-    Final patrols, all clear.

0230-    Out of service

Saturday, April 21, 2018 

0500--    in service, no new messages, email or texts, called in detail, starting patrol

0700-    completed a loop of Rio Vista, went and fueled up, returned and back on patrol

0912-    completed checks and patrol of mainland, still going
