The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

***************************************************************************

Observed a silver SUV driving slowly down Ponce occupied by a single W/F that appeared to be looking closely at homes. This was a possible match to notes above. The SUV had California tag. A traffic stop was conducted due to fail to signal at Ponce/9st. Contact was made with the driver who stated she was lost and was looking for Target. At first the driver was unable to provide any form of ID and the car was registered to someone else. After some time finally provided a CA ID card. After a thorough check it was discovered does not have a valid DL in either state.  She was very sketchy on why she was here in Rio and who she stays with locally. I attempted to call resident to see if this was the individual involved in her incident but there was no answer. She was arrested reference traffic. This information has been past along to Det Weymouth to see if there is anything in common with other districts distraction crimes
