The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

0615    10-8, Called in detail. A few missed calls and one voicemail from yesterday. Resident called in reference to a vagrant female loitering behind the old Rio Vista store. I spent some time there this morning, no female in sight. One email with added vacation check.

0715    Continuing Vacation Checks.

0915    Vacation checks appear 10-4. Roving.

1200-1205 Traffic stop.  Suspicious black Impala with tinted windows cruising neighborhood.  All ok.

1205-1250 - Continue vacation checks

Tuesday,  January 02, 2018,

0530-  10-8,  I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails,texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600-  I conducted an early patrol of the business district along S. Federal Highway corridor.

0630- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0730- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0800- Patrol of Rio mainland.

0830- Patrol of 11Ct alley.

0900- Final rounds, remained visible mainland.

0930- Due to the inclement weather it was a quiet day.

0930-  10-7.

1600    10-8, no messages

1800    Rain and cold.  And more rain

2000    Checked businesses along fed

2120    Observed vehicle pulled over on SE 12 st with flashers on.  Driver had merely pulled over to make a phone call.  Such uncommon courtesy!

0530-  10-8, I left a message with Carol. One new email looking for lost dog collie/shepard mix named Ike. No new texts or voicemails.

0600-  Another rainy and wet day.  

0630-  Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC..

0720-  Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0800-  Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Updated the out of town log.

0845- Remained visible Rio mainland.

0915- Final rounds.

0930- 10-7.

1600    10-8, called in. There was one vacation check added. No new emails, messages or texts. Sitting the 4 way at 9 and Cordova.

2000    10-7, nice and  cool evening

 

2100- In service. Called in the Hudson line. Check text email and vm. None to report.

2100- began patrolling the Rio corridors. Very quiet and super cold. 45 degrees.

2200- Continued patrol. Drove the LYC. All clear and quiet.  

2300- Patrolled the S. Fed corridor. Also very quiet and free of vagrants.

0000- backed up a Dist 3 unit at S. Fed and 9 st. Gas station. No citation issued.

0100- Continued patrolling Rio corridors. No traffic whatsoever. Very cold.

0130- Continued patrol. Very quiet evening

0200- secured for the evening

Thursday January 4th, 2018     

0730 - 10-8, called detail into Hudson line. Reviewed the activity log. There are no new texts, phone calls, emails. Began out of town checks.

0830 - 98 checks, began neighborhood patrol.

0830-1100 - Mainlaind, LYC, Aisles patrol.

1100- 10-7

1400    10-8, no new email, messages or texts. Starting patrol

1654    Add vacation check

1730    found water main break at SE 11 St. spoke with project supervisor who has contacted the city and they are on the way.

1900    10-7

Friday, January 5th 2018   

0200    10-8 called in detail; reviewed previous logs and checked emails

    One house check added to the log

0230    A 911 hangup; no answer at door; and registered vehicle not the same as caller.

0300    Roving patrol with cruise lights

0400

0500    Completed all vacation checks

0600-    10-7

1600-  10-8, I called the detail into Carole.  I also assisted Carole by going over the sign in log so she can update her records.  I reviewed the activity log.  No new phone messages.

1630-    Patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.

1700-     I added the address to the vacation log.

1715-    I patrolled the mainland and parks.

1745-    I conducted a vacation check.  The home was secure.  I removed a package left by the front door and placed it on the back patio.  

1815-    Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-    10-7

Friday, January 5th 2018  

2100-  10-8 detail called in.  Logs reviewed, and there were no new messages, calls, or emails.

2200-    Patrols of mainland and isles, all clear.

2315-    Continued patrols of LYC, mainland and isles.  Check along N Fed Hwy all clear as well.

0030-    High visibility patrols of neighborhood all clear.  Assisted Patrol with a call at the Suntrust Bank in reference to several individuals possibly attempting to pry open an ATM.

0100-    Check of LYC all clear.

0300-    Continued high visibility patrols throughout neighborhood.  Pretty cold, little to no vehicle traffic and no pedestrians all night.

0315-    Contact with a male driving slowly through the isle on SE 10th St.  After determining he was trying to pick up a customer, he was given proper directions.

0400-    10-7

Saturday, January 6, 2018 

0515    10-8, called in and nothing new

0821    Completed check, still on patrol

0915    10-7

1400- 10-8 called in detail; listened to voicemails, checked emails

    added one house check to the log; returned a missed call ref cars parked on roadway of S. Rio. Resident advised cars were gone by time call back

Sunday, January 7th 2018

1000-  Called in detail; checked emails and voicemails. I voicemail regarding a suspicious vehicle driving around each Isle.

1030    Began vacation checks.

1115     All house checks completed

    Hemingway and LYC checked   

1130      While checking the 10th st Isle. I was flagged down by a couple who stated there was a red car driving up and down the Isles. He had a “U” Uber sticker but he seemed to be lost. Checked the area

1326    Resident wanted a report of their car that hadnt been returned by son. Didnt wanted a stolen vehicle report but wanted help on what to do. I took a report for a BOLO’s vehicle.

1400     10-7

2100- Called in the Hudson line. Checked vm, email and text. Nothing to report.

2120- Began patrolling the corridors. A bit busy with regular residential traffic.

2145- Patrolled LYC. Some foot traffic and waved hi. No issues.

2245- Continued patrol. Drove the S. Fed corridor. All clear of vagrants

2344- Continued patrolling the Rio corridors. No activity to report other than vehicular traffic.

0045- patrolled the Corridors again. All clear.

Monday January 8, 2018

1940    Car driving slowly down SE 12 St.  Spoke to driver who was looking for an address.  All ok.

0530-  10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Early morning sweep of South Federals business district, no unusual activity to report.

0630- Patrol of the 11ct alley.

0730- Responded to an alarm at a residence

0800- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0845- Dispatched to SE 7Ave/9St in reference to a S-86 type W/M,  I  on viewed Rios latest S86 with the hopes of discovering where he lays his head as I thought he may be getting into one of the homes on 6st and 6ct closer to Federal. After about 30minutes continued his walk through out Rio and crossed Federal on his own accord passing by many vacant homes. To be continued tomorrow.

1730    10-8, no messages

1910    Flagged down  .  He stated he was stopped walking along ponce by a handsome bald headed individual working the detail who was just slightly stockier than myself.  He believed it to be Sgt. Williams.  Apparently he did not have his ID at the time.  He stated that the stop was extremely professional, and he wanted me to take a picture of his ID to pass along to Sgt. Williams to allay any concerns for the neighborhood.  I took a photo with the rio phone.

0530- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Patrol of Rio mainland and the South Federal Highway corridor in search of any S-86 activity, all quiet.

0645- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC. The rain is keeping most residents indoors.

0720- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0810- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0900- Remained visible Rio mainland, no Henry sightings. I believe he is staying on the West side of Fed by the vacant business.

0930- 10-7

Thursday January 11th, 2018

0630    10-8, detail called in, reviewed activity log. There are no new phone calls, texts, or

emails.

0730 - Vacation checks done. Begin neighborhood patrol.

0930 - Aisles, LYC, Fed Hwy corridor, mainland clear.

1030 - 10-7

1605    10-8, called in, no new emails, messages or texts.

1905    Spoke with resident ref. the multitude of stray cats.

Friday, January 12, 2018 

0400    10-8, one vacation check added, no other messages

0700    10-7

1600-  10-8,  I called the detail into Carole.  I reviewed the activity log.  Two new voicemails left on the phone.  

1630-    Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1730-    Conducted vacation checks.  All secure.

1750-  I was flagged down ref a  W/F fell off a segway.  It appeared subject may have broken her ankle.  EMS responded and transported subject to BGH.  The call was referred to EMS.

1815-    I received a call on the Rio phone.  Caller advised that there were people fishing on 7 St and Cordova.  Subject had a fishing license and all 3 agreed to leave because of the complaint.  They also cleaned up the area before they left.

1835-  Final patrol of isles and mainland.

1900-    10-7

2100-  10-8, detail called in.  A review of the voicemails and emails showed no new messages.  After review of logs, took on the adventure of trying to log into the CAD finally after being given access.  Finally logged in.

2130-  Patrols of mainland and isles.  

0000-    Neighborhood all clear of vehicles and foot traffic.  LYC all clear.

0115-    Continued patrols of mainland, all quiet.

0145-    During patrols, I located a w/f who appeared to be intoxicated in the covered parking area SE 5th Ct.  Contact was made and it was determined that she lived in a nearby apartment and she left the area and made her way home.

0230-    Continued patrols, contact was made with two fishermen at the end of SE 10th St.  They had proper licensing and were reminded to adhere to parking laws and to remove all trash.  Both were very cooperative.  I also checked in with overnight security at LYC and all was quiet.

0345-    Final patrols
