0900 – The pouring rain has begun. Vacation checks via drive by continue.

1020 – I responded to a code 3 94  for a PSA. It was turned over to patrol a while later. Still raining!

1130 – Met with homeowner. They’re home a few days early.

2100- in service. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

2200    Patrolled Rio vista corridors. All business as usual.

2309    Received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle following him. He recognized a dark color sedan followed him from Cordova/SE 1 St. The susp. Vehicle made a u-turn, followed every traffic maneuver for several blocks and into LYC. I circulated the area for suspect vehicle but could not locate. Susp vehicle described a small sports car.

Monday. July 17, 2017                 

1115    Started vacation checks.

1315    S12 put out over radio for a Silver Nissan weaving in and out of traffic last seen on Fed and SE 9th Ave turning into Rio Vista. Checked the area for that vehicle while finishing vacation checks but did not locate.

1325    Made contact with a B/M, fishing in front of SE 10th Street.  provided me a current fishing license, which expires 10/17.  All 10-4.

1340    Completed vacation checks.  Everything 10-4.

1400    Continued roving patrol with cruise lights activated.

1410    10-50 on FL Black Lexus for running stop sign at SE 9 Ave/SE 9 Street.  Driver Verbal warning issued.

1830    Drove Yacht Club parking areas

2010    Call from resident concerning fproperty across the street.  A neighbor was checking on it and found bathroom light on. I walked the property and all was 10-4.  It may have been the cleaning lady earlier.  He left a message for the homeowner.

2030    Call from resident about suspicious black male who knocked on door and then sat on sidewalk.  Contacted the male in 90 seconds. He believed people were chasing him and trying to kill him.  He started acting out, but he was handcuffed and then turned over to patrol for Baker Act.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017                

0730-1100 – Conducted all of the vacation property checks. Placed packages to the rear of the residences at; residents notified via text / email.

1100-1200 – High visibility patrol through neighborhood, yacht club, and US 1 corridor.

Wednesday, July 19,

0730-0945 – Conducted all of the vacation property checks. Placed packages to the rear of the residence. Spider webs in full effect; walked into at least five.

0945-1130 – High visibility patrol through neighborhood, yacht club, and US 1 corridor.

1547   Traffic stop, 12 St & Cordova. Eleven year old operating a golf cart with friends & mom. I explained to mom the restrictions of operating a golf cart and provided warnings. Mom took over operating the cart.

1703   Email came in for an out of town check request. I added the check to the log and emailed back requesting POC should there be an issue. The updated email including the local POC was added to the log.

1833   Traffic stop, SE 11 Ct & Se 9 ave, regarding one-way violation. Driver advised he knew the road was a one-way. He was cited.

1925   Traffic stop 1000 block of Cordova, Driver operating golf cart while holding his 2-3 yoa daughter on his lap, not in a child seat. Upon contact the Rio resident was told the child had to be in a safety seat.

Thursday, July 20, 2017     

1345 – Mainland checks appear secure.

1500   I began remaining out of town checks.

1542   Checks completed and apparently secure.

1545   Resident called to see if anyone reported finding a set of keys. Nothing on log and checking with dispatch, no such incident reported. Resident then submitted an out of town check that I added to the log.

1708   Call in to detail phone resident is complaining about occurrences in the alleyway between the rear of his house and the cemetery. He advises the traffic barrier was removed and there are adult items, alcohol bottles and other items left about. I contacted the District sergeant and made them aware for extra patrols and to collect the items. I called reportee back and updated him.

1814   Burglary to a shed. Between 0830 and 1200 unknown culprit entered fenced yard and removed a bicycle from a shed. The culprit left their bicycle behind. Victim and neighbors do not have security cameras. Delay in reporting due to wife awaiting husband’s return home from work. PSA transported discarded bicycle to the station and placed it into evidence. 17-114560

0800-   10-8 Called in detail; reviewed log; no new voice messages or voicemails.

0935    While checking Hemmingway; resident thought a vehicle on SE 12th st just outside of Rio looked suspicious. Tag came back 29/54 to an APO. House secure that it was parked in front of


            Completed all vacation checks

2200    High visibility patrols of mainland and isles.

2230    Met with resident at his residence.  Sometime yesterday he believed his SUV was burglarized, and sunglasses were stolen.  He advised this was the second incident.  Even after discussion, he declined a police report, and advised he wanted info on prevention.  I suggested cameras, additional security lights, etc.  He was pleased with the response and he was instructed to contact RV patrol should he have any further issues.

2300    Responded to alarm call.  Resident advised he received a notification that his garage door opened unexpectedly.  Property was checked and it appeared that the door may have malfunctioned.  All clear.  Continued patrols.

Saturday July 22, 2017

0500 – 10-8, I left a message with my hours. I review the log, messages, emails, and texts.

1400    10-8 Called in detail; 2 new messages with house checks added to the log.

            Began vacation checks

            Observed a W/F park her vehicle on SE 11th ct and block traffic, she walked into the house. I requested that she moved her vehicle so as not to impede traffic.

1530- 10-50 on a black truck expired tag with a landscaping company, I was able to verify who he was with realtor and Rio resident.

0820 - I checked Hemingway, LYC, and the isles. I then began vacation checks.

0930 – Moved newspaper and flyer to the rear

1000 – Isles and Ponce are secure.

1100 – Vacation checks completed, all 10-4.

Monday, July 24th 2017     

1800 – 10-8, I called in the detail and left a message for Carol. There were no new messages or emails, but a few missed calls. The missed calls were in reference to a confused/ lost homeless male wandering around Rio at around 3:50 PM. Member gave him water and helped him find his way to Federal Highway.

            I was flagged down by members. They advised that an older Hispanic male was trespassing on their property and stealing coconuts from their tree. He obtained the tag of the white truck they were driving(older model F-150 with an attachment to hold work equipment,) and took photos. The males eventually left. He did not wish to have an official report, but I’m documenting it anyway. 34-1707-116746 I saved the photos in the Rio phone. BOLO.

1845 – Vacation Checks

1930 – Added a new vacation check to the log,

2011 – Received call from the resident in reference to a S-13 white male dressed in a white uniform, who knocked on the resident’s door and tried to sell pest control services. I circulated the area for him with negative results. The caller did not wish to be called back or make a report.

2045 – Vacation Checks Complete. Patrol with cruise lights on.

2200 – 10-7

Tuesday July 25th 2017                

0800- Began vacation checks.

0852 – While performing vacation check, one of the rear doors was found to be unsecure, setting off the alarm as I opened the door. Interior checked with no signs of forced entry/burglary/theft. The residence was secured and the homeowne was notified. He advised the cleaning personnel may have left the door unlocked. Incident documented as an Open Door, case # 34-1707-117043.

1026 – While conducting vacation check, the neighbor approached asking for assistance. The male neighbor advised that last week around 3:30am, he observed two suspicious B/M’s in a row boat, rowing down the waterway to the rear of his residence. Confronting them, they advised they “weren’t doing anything” and left the area. The neighbor tried calling the detail line (which was apparently unmanned at the time) and the non-emergency number but, stated he got a recording. The subject was provided the correct non-emergency contact number.

1130 – High visibility patrol of the mainland, LYC, Isles, and Federal corridor; all secure.

1745   Traffic stop, stop sign violation at SE 9 Ave & SE 7 ST. Driver smoked the sign, accelerated when I activated my lights and made a quick right turn onto SE 9 St. Upon contact she simply stated she was in a rush to pick up her dogs. She was cited for the stop sign violation and warned reference producing registration and insurance.

0530- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I reviewed the activity log.

0600- Patrol of business district along S. Federal Highway, no unusual activity to report.

0630- Patrol of the 11Ct alley, all clear.

0700- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Moved several papers to rear.

0840- Patrol of Isles, bridges, and LYC.

0910- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, Final rounds.

Thursday, July 27. 2017              

1100 – 10-8, I spoke with Carol. There are no new voicemails, texts, or emails. I called back a few missed calls, but they happened to be spam callers or accidental callers. I reviewed the activity log.

1116 – Rio Member called in reference to a suspicious truck parked at SE 7th Street. It was GOA upon my arrival as it noticed taking pictures of it. It was last seen driving north on Federal. I checked the property, and the older classis vehicle that is always parked there was left undisturbed. The rest of the home was secure as well.


1130 – Vacation checks.

1600-   10-8, I left message with Carol.  I reviewed the activity log.  One new voice message was left on the phone.  A resident was asking why a vacation check card was left on her door. Based on our conversation, it appeared it was mistakenly left on her property.
