1030 – 10-8, I left a message for Carol with my hours. We received a missed call from a resident who was concerned about the delayed red light at Davie Boulevard and S Fed. I checked the area and the lights are cycling normally. I continued with patrolling the neighborhood.

1100 – Began vacation checks.

1200 – Responded to an alarm. Everything was secure. I made landline with the owner who stated his sister accidentally set off the alarm.

1300 – Officially ran out of cards, I notified Capt Scelfo. Rain has stopped so I was able to check the rear of the vacation checks. All appear secure

1330 – Checked LYC, Hemingway, and the parks. Roving patrol of the neighborhood.

1400 – Foot patrol and moved the Rio car.

0800    10-8 Called in detail

            1 new text message for house check that was added to the log

            1 missed call on advising her neighbor requested she call about kids racing their cars on Ponce. Advised her that she can call the non emergency line in the future if no one is on duty

0830    Began house checks

            Added FLPD case card to new house checks

            Added name and date to existing cards since we are out of cards.

           

            LYC, Hemmingway and all parks checked

0917    Requested a lawn truck move their vehicle on SE 11th street to allow cars ample space to pass

            SE 10th street looks good and free from construction traffic

1051    Began roving patrols

            Rain has started; Parked at Rio Christian school

Tuesday, June 06, 2017          

0530- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There are no new voicemails or texts. I reviewed the activity log and began patrol of the business district along S. Federal Highway.

0610- Patrol of 11CT alley way, no unusual activity to report.

0635- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. Moved a small package to the rear of 916 SE 6CT.

0810- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC.

0900- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, all quiet due to heavy continuous rains.

0915- Final rounds.

1720    Patrolling the area. Heavy flooding along cordova

1850    Checked Yacht Club

2000    Responded to PDQ for hold up alarm then assault call.  Employee hit manager in the eye with a stapler sending him to the hospital.  Employee arrested, handled by patrol units.

2100    Continuing patrols in the rain

Wednesday, 07June, 2017       

0545- 10-8, I left a message with Carol, there are no new voicemails or texts. I reviewed the activity log and began patrol the business district and the 11CT alley way, all clear.

0615- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0700- Responded to alarm, contact was made with resident, 10-8 weather malfunction.

0730- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure. It was a very wet day and I was hoping the rain would let up, but I don’t have all the best luck.

0845- Patrol of bridges, parks, and LYC.

0920- Final rounds.

1720    Call from resident who wanted to thank the officer’s whose cards she found during vacation checks. 

1900    Rain and rain.  Checked the Yacht Club

2100    More rainy rainy night patrols.  Did not gas up due to pumps being closed.

0800    10-8 Called in detail   

            1 new text message for a vacation check that was added to the log

1025    Observed a white mmale walking with a limp on the 9th street Isles, I watched him walk off             the Isles, stop, look over the bridge and continue walking west. I made contact with the          male who said he worked for one of the construction companies and walking to the store.    I was able to verify his employment. Subject 14 on clip board

1655   Traffic stop, stop sign violation at 9 Ave & 8 St. Rio resident warned and admonished.

1752   While conducting traffic enforcement for one-way violations on SE 9 Ave I was contacted by a passing motorist who advised a woman had an object in the middle of the roadway around the corner on 11 Ct. She added she asked the woman to move the object out of the roadway and the woman told her she would not. I responded and the object was a child-at play type yellow device and it was in the middle of the west bound lane. The sign was moved from the lane.

0830                10-8 called in detail

0900                1 package moved to the rear

                        All house checks completed

1025                1 occupied van in the driveway. Able to verify it was yacht                           company employee using his personal van. He was gone on the yacht

                        LYC, Hemmingway, parks all clear

1515- Patrolled the isles and yacht club.

1530-   Made a citizen contact with homeless man walking in the 900 block of SE 9th Ave.  The subject was cutting through the neighborhood going to the store. I showed him the quickest way out of the neighborhood to the store.

1630-   I patrolled the mainland and parks.

1700-   Patrolled the businesses along S. Federal Hwy.

1730-   Final patrol of isles and mainland

2345    10-8.  Received a call from Ofc Carter about 4 bm juveniles seen entering the neighborhood acting suspiciously and carrying a backpack prior to my arrival.  The males were located and stopped on the 400 block of SE 2 St.  The back pack was located near the Suntrust bank and found to contain a VERY real looking airsoft pistol.  It was determined through a field interview that they were in the area looking to commit robberies  34-1706-091306.  All 4 subjects were released by patrol to their parents, and information was obtained for follow up by CID/PCU.  No indication of any crimes committed in the neighborhood

0345    Alarm received.  Backed up by patrol, checked the residence and made contact at the door with resident.  Patrol also informed me that the same alarm was received last week.

1700    While roving on the mainland; I was flagged down by a resident that lived on 5th court. She stated that she saw a silver Chrysler 300 occupied b 2 b/m driving and the neighborhood and they appeared suspicious. I circulated after she showed me a picture of them parked on the 9TH ST Isle. I was unable to locate

2220    Began patrol the corridors all appeared to be secured. Starting to rain again.

2300    Continued high visibility patrol along the main corridors and LYC. All secured

0000    Patrolled of Rio mainland, parks, and business district. All quiet

0030    maintained high visibility along Fed highway. All quiet.

0100    Drove around Rio Vista with overhead police lights for high visibility.

0130    patrolled LYC and all appeared secured

2330    maintained high visibility along Fed highway. All quiet.

0100    Drove around Rio Vista with overhead police lights for high visibility.

Monday June 12,

Drove by businesses, parks, and mainland corridor.

0830- Vacation checked began.

1045 – Vacation checks completed. I noticed a few vehicles parked in the road in the 700 block of Cordova. Cars were able to pass but it’s inconvenient. No answer at the homes in the area, but a boat worker noted that the friends parked there and hopped in kayaks with the homeowners a while ago. I will return before the end of my shift to warn the homeowner against this. The home has a driveway, though for some reason they only parked one of the vehicles there.

1710    Call from resident of suspicious individuals at abandoned property at 6ct/ 9 Ave.  Contacted group who were contractors from the bank bidding on cleaning out the property.  Had code to key box, all appeared OK. Called back resident and advised.

1725    Found hit and run accident at 7 St/ Fed.  Turned over to patrol units

Tuesday, June 13, 2017             

0600- 10-8, I left a message with Carol. There where no new voicemails or emails. There was one new text that has been added to the out of town list. I reviewed the activity log.

0630- Patrol of business district along S. Fed. No unusual activity to report.

0700- Patrol of Rio mainland and parks.

0740- Rain has subsided, Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0835- Responded to alarm, 10-8 accidental by homeowner.

0850- Received a phone call in reference to a truck blocking traffic Ponce. Upon arrival contact was made with the truck driver who moved truck upon my request.

0915- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC. No unusual activity to report.

0930- Patrol of 11Ct. alley.

0945- Final rounds.

1630    Bought a class of lemonade from some adorable kids working to make a few bucks.

1640    Went to pick up new business cards, but they were not on the porch as discussed.  Sent Steve a message

1755    Observed a couple of workers at the elderly residents home looking at the roof. I checked in on them to ensure that they had called for the workers and that they were not gypsies.  Turned out to be their grandson and they were grateful for the check. 

1930    Saw 2 car alarms going off.  Knocked on door to  to check on if anything was amiss.  Apparently related to a neighbor noise dispute.  Spoke to all parties involved.

2100    Picked up new set of business cards

Wednesday,  14June, 2017         

0630- Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0745- Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC.

0830- Patrol of Rio mainland. Very quiet through out Rio due to the heavy rain.

0900- Patrol of Rio parks, and 11Ct alley way.

0930- Final rounds, it was a non stop rainy day.

1538   Male going door to door soliciting business without a permit, 700 block of Ponce. He was warned. I called his employer and advised them of the need for a permit.

1642   Traffic stop, excessive speed, Ponce & 6 Ter. Contrite Rio resident warned and admonished.

2000   Corridors, parks, LYC, Hemingway and neighborhood secure, 10-7.

Thursday, June 15, 2017     

0710 – 10-8, called in detail to Carol. No new voicemails, emails, or texts. I reviewed the log and began to patrol in the rain. I stopped out with a fisherman on SE 7th Street when the rain lightened up. He had a license and agreed to keep the area tidy and keep his truck parked out of the roadway.

0800 – I began vacation checks after the rain stopped. It’s turning out to be a beautiful day Intermittent vacation checks and patrolling.

0920 – Resident advised that a black truck was blocking the road. I have been to this home multiple times for the same reason. She moved it without incident and advised she would make sure he did not continue to park this way. Next time he will get a ticket, he has been warned several times.

1000 – All vacation checks appear to be secure. Patrol the mainland and parks.

1030 – Checked LYC and Hemingway.

1518   Checking one of the new out of town checks, I found the patio doors to the breeze-way open. I called the POC and she advised those doors will not be closed

1640   Traffic stop, Cordova & 9 St, disobey stop sign. Driver was warned and admonished.

1930   Call from resident reporting two juvenile males going door to door selling cookies and asking for donations. Contact made with the juveniles on 8 St. They were trying to raise money for the Coconut Creek HS football team and were dropped of by an assistant coach. They called the coach and I met him with the juveniles at Federal & 7 St. I advised the coach, about the city permit requirements. I asked why the Coconut Creek HS would bring people to Ft Lauderdale and he replied they go all over trying to raise money. I called the reportee back with an update and assured her she did the right thing by calling.

0800-   10-8 Called in detail; 1 new visual voice messages, no new emails

            Voice message night before of concerned resident who saw 3 kids by a van at the old Rio   Vista market, she drove back and saw the van with no kids.

            Updated the log and removed all old vacation checks

0830    Began all vacation checks

0931    While checking Hemmingway; I was flagged down someone tried to break in on Tuesday.  Fence top broken, but no other signs of break in.  They will review the video and call back.

1000    Finished vacation checks

            LYC, parks and common areas all clear.
