1020 While checking the isles, I noticed the garage door was stuck open at home with no cars in the driveway. I knocked on the door and the cleaning lady advised all was 10-4. She shut the garage.
1030 I added new vacation check to log.
1100 Completed property checks and stopped to speak with concerned citizens.
1305 Final rounds, roving patrols throughout Rio.
1710 Checked on parked vehicle complaint from N. Rio. Car legally parked in the swale and registered to the apartments. I advised her of the same.
1800 Patrols with overheads on
1910 Traffic stop for red light on SE 9 St. It was a delivery driver with a warning given.
2140 Bolo for traffic complaint - Hyundai with no lights driving recklessly GOA
2145 Located the car on SE 11 Ct. Turned out to be a Publix driver and she claimed she was being chased by a Rio resident who questioned why she was in Rio Vista. She claimed she turned off the lights and attempted to pull into a house to hide. She was a legitimate delivery person and had also called 911. It was reported to be a Rio resident in black Ranger Rover no tag information.

0545 Early patrol of Cordova, observed a W/M walking along Cordova and 12 St with a small cart. Contact was made with the individual who was walking around as he waited for his Uber ride which arrived momentarily.
0610 Patrol of Rio mainland and parks, no unusual activity to report.
0700 Began and completed the out of town house checks, all appear to be secure.
0736 I received a call from a concerned member in reference to a van/occupant that may be camping out overnight in the rear alley way. Upon my immediate arrival the van was GOA. A message was left with the member advising the outcome. Please conduct checks of the alley way during shift.
0810 Flagged down by Rio resident who had several questions in reference to PBA solicitors. Information, answers, and suggestions provided.
0820 Patrol of business district along S. Fed, Rio mainland, and parks.
0845 Patrol of Isles, bridges, Hemingway, and LYC.
0915 Final rounds.
1500 1 – Resident called about a B/M walking in the neighborhood checking door handles as he was walking through. She stated she would call the FLPD 911 line since no officers were on duty at the time of her call.
1535 I began by patrols and re-checks of the vacation homes.
1615 All of the vacation homes checked secure
1630 Picked up new membership sticker distribution list at FLPD from Captain Scelfo
1715 Flagged down by resident who had questions about joining the security patrol
1830 Patrolled the businesses, church and school properties and entrances to Rio Vista
1900 Checked all of the parks
1915 High visibility patrols of the neighborhood hot spots. I made more circles than a NASCAR driver tonight. All was quiet.

0615 Early morning sweep of the alley way proved to be clear.
0630 Patrol of business district along S. Federal all clear. FYI the Rio Vista Market 7/Federal will be closing its doors Wednesday.
0650 Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0720 STICKERS.
0940 All 49 renewals/members on the current list have been updated with 2017 stickers.
1000 10-7 FYI as far as signage we are down to 6 metal poles and 4 round Rio signs, also running low on cards.
1500 10-8, detail called in to Carol. One voicemail regarding out of town check request, I added it to the log. Reviewed the log and began patrol.
1520 To the station 7.50 gallons.
1620 Picked up RVSP signs from Carole and distributed new RVSP signs and updated existing signs on list Mark Snead provided
1934 Call into detail phone regarding a suspicious male driving slowly at intersection of NRV & SE 9 St. Driver was in a white Ford and taking pictures. Contact made with subject, a contractor working on the new construction at 1101 & 1105 SE 9 St. He was taking pictures of his work at the site and the new construction at the site just west of NRV & 9 St. He checked out and I called the reporter to let her know.
1828 Call into detail phone, resident came across a dog that has no ID. We have had no reports of a lost/missing dog, I referred her to Animal Control.
1830 I chased 3 unlicensed fisherman from the 7 St. Bridge. Warnings were given.

2110 Began patrol the corridors all appeared to be secured.
2130 Patrol backup for battery arrest at Cordova. I detained the suspect and turned him over to patrol.

0945 Began patrolling and did a few morning vacation checks.
1040 Checked the new residents on the Rio Vista list but it looks like they were taken care of by Tom and Capt. Bollinger.
1100 Patrolled the isles. I moved the newspaper to the front porch.
1230 I conducted a vacation check. I noticed that the southwest interior porch window was left slightly open. The screen was still over the window. I checked every door handle and all were secure. From what I could see through the sliding glass doors and all other windows, the home did not appear ransacked or out of the ordinary. local POC and who has a key and visits the home to feed the cat and take in the mail. It is possible that she is the one who left the window ajar. I obtained her phone number She did not answer, but I left a detailed message. I called the homeowner, and also left him a message. I wrote a suspicious incident report just in case. (34-1702-017165)
1300 Final rounds of patrol. I received a spam call to Rio phone.
1500 10-8, detail called in, message left. One phone message regarding a suspicious Honda mini-van, blue in color with unknown Florida “surfer” tag, parked in the 1500 block of Ponce. It has been there for hours, occupied by a female. Upon arrival the van was not at the location, area check proved negative as well. I called the reportee back, but her voicemail was full.
1545 Both the call-out and the property owner noted in Oficer Pence’s entry at 1230 hours called on the detail phone and thanked us for the attention and call. The owner believes the window likely was left open and will be trying to contact someone with a key to secure it.
1600 Call into detail phone about a juvenile at the convenience store at 7 Street & Federal who was littering, throwing papers around to the ground. He was wearing an orange shirt and traveling on a bicycle, last seen N/B toward the tunnel. I circulated with negative results. I contacted the store owner; he does not know the juvenile or anything about the juvenile littering. Since the papers were adjacent to the business, the owner advised he would take care of it. I called the reporter back and updated her.
1601 Caller from my 1500 hours entry called back and I advised that I did not locate the van, and if she sees the van again she should call right away.
1640 Parking citation issued 1800 Block of SE 10 St, against posted sign.
1820 Assisted patrol with a crash at Federal & Ponce.
1908 Traffic stop 9 Ave & 6 St, right of way violation. Rio resident narrowly missed causing a crash due to skills of other driver. Driver was explained the seriousness of his action and warned and admonished for the violation and improper address on DL.
1922 Traffic stop, stop sign violation at 9 & Ponce, my driving skills kept me from being T-boned by a Rio resident (I’m noting a pattern). Again, I took the opportunity to explain the consequences to his actions. He was warned and admonished for the violation and other admin violations.

0945 To the garage to have cruise lights updated
1330 10-7
1430 10-8, I called the detail into Carol. One new text message left on the phone. I added the address to the vacation log. I reviewed the activity log.
1445 A call was dispatched regarding an alarm. I responded to the call and found an unlocked rear door. Assisted by patrol officers we check the residence and found it secure. I secured the door and closed out the call as a malfunction.
#17-17800. There was no call out available.
1500 I began out of town checks.
1530 I completed out of town checks. A package was removed from in front of the front door. The package was placed on a table in the back of the property.
1600 I patrolled the isles, bridges and yacht club.
1630 Patrolled the mainland, parks and businesses along S. Federal Hwy.
1700 Final patrol of mainland and isles
1800 Checked Yacht Club and spoke with security guard.
1900 Patrolling area with cruise lights activated for enhanced visibility.
2015 Call from resident for vacation check starting today, I added to the log.
2030 Checked the new vacation check residence. All secure.
2215 10-8, Called in detail. No new messages, I began patrolling with new cruise lights.
2240 Ran into a cat and mouse sitting next to each other and enjoying each other’s company, right by the Huizenga’s house on Ponce De Leon. It was weird!
2300 I noticed the rear driver’s side window of a Silver Infinity completely open There was no broken glass. Spoke with resident, who confirmed it was her car and she accidentally left it rolled all the way down. No crime here.
2310 Dispatched to the 1200 block of Ponce in reference to a noise complaint. An anonymous resident heard drilling sounds a few blocks away. I was cancelled per reporter within a few seconds of being dispatched because the noise apparently stopped.
0015 Several more noise complaints came in near Federal/SE 15 St. It was some kind of drilling or banging going on out on the water. D3 Units did not locate the source.

0930 Called in detail and left a message with my hours. (2) missed calls. First missed call was. who advised that last night there was a noisy teenage party going on in the neighborhood, however everything is now OK.

1135 Continued patrolling area with cruise lights activated for enhanced visibility. Parks and bridges clear…. Everything was OK.

0950 Received extra patrol request for the Rio Vista Convenience Store on SE 7 Street, now that the store has closed down.
1015 I completed vacation checks. All appears secure.
1030 Property check at the convenience store. All secure.
1135 Large Ford Pickup blocking the stop sign at 9 Ave and 7 Street. Owner moved it immediately after being asked.
1700 Patrolling with cruise lights active. I checked Yacht Club.
1930 Checked abandoned Kwik Stop. All quiet
2115 Traffic stop for one way violation on SE 9 Ave. Awarning given.

0835 Upon patrol of LYC I observed a black Honda SUV toward the far east with its rear hatch fully opened and displaying several tools. There was nobody around so I walked over to pool area where I located the owner, together we returned to his vehicle so he can check tool inventory, everything was accounted for and he stated he left it open in error.
0850 Meet up with Z unit who was dispatched SE 7 St. in reference to multiple skateboards in the dumpster. It appeared that these brand new skateboards still in their original packaging have been discarded. Hmmm????.
There were no shipping labels or addresses on the boxes, just stamped SurfSkate. We Googled SurfSkate to discover they are located at 614 S. Federal Hwy., where they rent space from Miller’s.
Upon my arrival at Miller I was directed to the rear where SurfSkate is and conducted a property check as there was nobody present. The property checked proved all secure. I spoke with Miller employees who said the guy that runs SurfSkate lives in Rio and his name is. I looked up Newton in our Alpha page but unfound. I then used BCPA and located. I made contact with who stated the skateboards are trash. Z unit advised and completed report.
0950 Patrol of isles, bridges, and LYC.
1010 Final rounds. I confirmed with Carol that she has sign/card inventory.
1600 As I arrived I received a call on the detail phone in reference to an audible alarm sounding in the area of Cordova Road. It was a large yacht located with a mechanical company on scene The property is for sale so I contacted the realtor who gave me the name of the yacht Captain
Captain soon arrived and turned the alarm off. All was secure.
1625 I began my patrols and re-checks of the vacation homes
1700 Another audible alarm in reference to the above yacht (still secure/same problems)
1730 All of the vacation home checks were found to be secure
1800 Delivered yard sign
1810 Dispatched to SE 9 Street and Federal Hwy in reference to a dispute between a Yellow Cab driver and a patron. Upon my arrival the dispute had been resolve to the satisfaction of all without incident. NFA

0740 Began and completed the out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0830 Observed a homeless type male walking through out Rio Vista, after on viewing for a few minutes it was evident that no wrong doings were going to take place, contact was made with the male who stated he was trying to find his way over to the River walk. He was pointed in the right direction and left upon my request.
0910 Patrolled Rio mainland and parks, all quiet.
0940 Patrol of the 11 Ct alleyway.

1500 10-8, detail called in to Carol. (1) new message regarding a RVSP (renewal), no phone messages. I took care of the renewal, reviewed the log.
1747 Traffic stop, SE 6 Terrace/Ponce. Driver did not want to wait further for traffic to get on to Federal Hwy & he proceeded to back up in the one-way divided lane to SE 6 Terrace. I explained to him the dangerous condition he created and warned him for the violation and for wearing no seatbelt.
1850 Four unlicensed fishermen chased from SE 7 St Bridge with warnings after picking up their trash. I explained where they can get a license.
1917 Dispatch advised of a suspicious pickup truck pulling into the driveway of NRV. Upon arrival there was no truck. Contact made with resident and he had no idea a truck pulled into the driveway. I contacted the neighbor across the street and he advised the truck was driven by a B/M, and the bed had lawn equipment in it. Since it was dark and he thought the resident was not home he called. The truck may just have been turning around, no signs of foul play, NFI on truck and driver. 17-20914

0930 10-8 I spoke with Carol and advised my hours. There were no new messages or texts. I reviewed the log and began patrol.
1130 Vacation checks complete. All appear secure.
1145 Traffic crash on SE 11 Court/SE 9 Avenue. Crash Report: 34-1702-021231.
1500 10-8, detail called in to Carole. One message on phone that was addressed, began patrol.
1515 Alarm. Upon arrival the alarm was audible inside the residence, residence was secure. Resident is a RVSP member, I called the listed contact number, which connected me to a fax machine. (suspicious incident), #17-21338.
1538 Construction vehicles at 7 & 9 were double-parked at the intersection. Trucks were moved and drivers warned.
1650 District officers removed the Monster from 11 Ct & 9 Ave.
1713 Completed the most recent updates and deliveries of stickers and signs to RVSP members. I called Carol and let her know we need signs.

1021 Medical call; female who has been living in her car took extra medication in an attempt to overdose. Fire Rescue responded and transported.

1630 I patrolled isles, bridges and yacht club.
1700 Patrolled the mainland and parks.
1730 Traffic stop at SE 9 St & 12 Ave. SUV ignored the one way sign. (warning)
1750 Traffic stop at the yacht club. The driver drove through the exit to enter the yacht club parking lot. The driver who was employed as a kids counselor at the yacht club was issued a warning.
1800 Patrolled the business along S. Federal Hwy
1730 Final rounds mainland and the isles.
2220 Flagged down by a resident in reference to a suspicious vehicle at SE 11 Ave and SE 8
Street. The vehicle was parked in the road way with the parking lights on. I made contact with a female as a live-in maid. She was eating take out in the car with her boyfriend before going back in the home.
2310 Continued patrolling with the cruise lights on for high visibility.
0010 While checking the isles, I came across 1 male fisherman and his girlfriend on the SE 7
Street Bridge, he had a proper fishing license. I finished checking the Isles and Ponce.
