0830 Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0930 Patrolled bridges, Isles, and LYC. No unusual activity to report.
1030 Patrolled Rio Vista mainland and foot patrol of parks.
1100 Spoke with resident, who stated one of the dogs she walks (on a leash) was attacked by another dog that ran from the residence wanted to bring it to our attention in case we have similar incidents.
1120 Traffic stop conducted N. Rio and 9ave. due to stop sign. Verbal provided to driver.
1140 Remained visible VSY Park since several parents/kids out playing.
1230 Patrolled business area along Federal Highway including intersections which were clear of any panhandling activity.
1250 Observed a run away dog 9 Ave/7 St. He was reunited with his owner.
1315 Traffic enforcement 9 Ave/11Ct. No violators.
1345 Final rounds.
1500 1-A complaint was made from a member resident in reference to parking problem involving many construction vehicles at the construction site. The caller indicated many vehicles are parking on both sides of the street when construction is ongoing thereby blocking passage of other motorists.
1545 I began the patrols and re-checks of the vacation homes.
1615 I checked the aforementioned traffic complaint. All vehicles were gone as apparently work stopped at 1600 hrs. I made a return call to the complainant advising we would continue to look at the situation and if she would witness a problem to please call back anytime.
1715 All vacation homes checked secure on re-check.
1800 Checked all of the parks – secure.
1830 Several traffic stops at SE 9 Ave & 11 Ct.
1920 Patrolled business along Federal Hwy., school and church.
2015 Final patrols of area, including Yacht Club and Isles.
2055 Removed three juvenile skateboarders from Virginia Young Park who were being loud an obnoxious after dark when the park was closed. They left without incident dragging their boards behind them.

1920 Directions given to lost couple seeking the Las Olas Blvd. restaurant district.
2000 Checked all of the parks, all secure.

1727 Traffic stop, stop sign violation at 9 Ave & NRV in front of the park. Warning given.
1747 Construction workers have created a debacle on the SE 11 St. Bridge. I had them
move their vehicles to allow cars to pass.
1843 Traffic stop, one-way violation in the 1100 block of SE 9 Ave. Young man still
wearing braces and who received his DL exactly one week ago should have been
paying better attention. In lieu of citation I spoke with his mother to impress upon
her that she may want him to drive the family sedan instead so he does not hurt someone too badly.

1010 Wrote a parking ticket on 11 Ct.
1115 Completed vacation checks
1140 Call from resident concerning loose pit bull at 5 Ct/ 11 Ave. She gave me some dog treats to assist in the hunt. I chased it all up and down Rio Vista.
1245 Flagged down reference wire over the roadway on Ponce. As I called it in to dispatch, Comcast showed up and fixed.
1737 Responded to an alarm. Contact made with contractors
who set of the alarm. Perimeter check of residence did not reveal anything suspicious.
Contractors were trying to call the resident’s cell. I cleared it out as accidental.
1842 Traffic stop, one-way violation in the 1100 block of SE 9 Ave. Citation issued.
1930 Corridors, parks, LYC and neighborhood secure. 10-7
2215 Two messages left on phone concerning a chicken that had been shot. I arrived as patrol units were on scene as the call had been holding several hours. Patrol wrote up a report for discharging a firearm in public and victim was given case filing instructions.

0700 I began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0800 Conducted early morning patrol of 11St. (Isle) in an effort to prevent parking complaints
0820 While patrolling 11 St. I was flagged down by new resident who had some questions in reference to garbage. I welcomed her to Rio Vista and told her about the detail.
0840 Patrolled Isles, bridges, and LYC.
0900 Patrolled Rio mainland and parks. No unusual activity to report.
0915 Patrol of business district along S. Federal Highway. No S-86/panhandlers in area.
0930 Additional check of 11 St. proved one vehicle (legally parked), must be nice to have days off ?
2210 Responded to S/13 vehicle call of a silver Subaru that took off when reporter stepped outside. Nothing found.
2225 Observed car with light on. I contacted owner who was grateful.
2250 Call again reference kids in silver Subaru stealing plants. Ofc. Somma knew the suspect from a previous dealing with him shooting kids with an air soft gun. Patrol located the car and potted plants near the suspect’s residence at New River Landings. I attempted to call, the homeowner, via contact number on member list. I left a message.
2315 Made it out with patrol. Turns out the plants belonged to next door. The victims did not want to prosecute, only to have the juvenile trespass warned. Dad came and got him again.

0715 Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.

0900 A check of business area proved no S-86/panhandler activity.
0930 Park check.
1000 No parking complaints/violations observed 11 St. Isle during my shift
1015 Directions provided to construction worker in search of 500 Block of N. Fed.
1020 Final patrols.
1530 Messaged with a complaint of vehicles blocking the sidewalk. I will stop and talk to the homeowners today.
1550 I began patrols and re-checks of the vacation homes.
1645 All of the vacation homes checked secure on re-check.
1805 A light rain falls in the area, windy.
1835 I removed several fallen palm branches and coconuts from the street on 10 Isle apparently brought down by the rain and winds.
1900 Received call on detail phone from resident thanking the officers for looking after her property while she was away. She was very pleased with the services.
1920 I spoke to property owner about the above listed parking complaint. The owner stated both he and his wife would attempt to leave an opening for the sidewalk area as required, he did admit this has not always been done but a much more concerted effort will be made to keep neighbor peace.
1940 All evening I have been attempting to quell a vicious rumor that KFC is starting a franchise in Rio Vista. How could such a misinformation get started?

1545 I located a suspicious subject carrying a rather expensive bicycle over his shoulder with no attached wheels on SE 8 Street. I stopped this individual to investigate further.
Subject stated he resides nearby and his bicycle tires/rims were stolen off of his bicycle while it was locked up at Winn Dixie today. He was able to produce the undamaged lock which was supposed to be securing his property. His story appeared to check out, NFA.
1640 All vacation homes checked secure on re-check.
1720 Assisted motorist who had ran out of fuel on SE 11 Ct.
1800 Patrolled the parks, all was secure.
1900 Patrolled the Isles, Cordova Road and the Yacht Club.
1925 Removed Skateboarding juveniles from Funeral home property.
2000 Checked the businesses along Federal Hwy.

1130 Completed vacation checks
1150 Had fishermen on SE 7 St move chairs from sidewalk
1240 Flagged down reference car parked in the median (not on grass). Resident initially stated that the truck was there for 2 days. Not stolen, comes back to contractor. She then said that they were there for the folks having the driveway put in. I went around to make contact with the drier and then saw that there was really no where else to park besides on the sidewalk, so I left it parked as is.
1655 Traffic stop, 800 blk of SE 7 ST. Driver had no brake lights. Warned & admonished.
1855 Call regarding the roaming brown pitbull. Latest sighting at 9 Ave & 5 Ct near the residence. Upon arrival there was no sign of the dog. A male walking his dog did not see it, told me she was called by a neighbor about the dog in her yard, but she did not see it. Area check was negative.

0715- Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0745- Patrolled bridges, Isles and LYC. No fisherman etc. present.
0810- Patrolled parks and Rio mainland, no unusual activity to report.
0830- During a sweep of business along federal, contact was made with a S-86, W/M to the rear of Millers, who left upon my request.
0845- Traffic stop conducted SE 8Th st. due to a white Benz who’s driver decided to stop in the middle of the active traffic lane and text while I waited quietly behind her. As my patience slowly dissipated I had no alternative to let her know I was behind her waiting to turn North on Fed. Contact was made with our non law abiding resident, who was reminded she was in violation of several traffic violations to include, texting while driving, obstruction of traffic, and no seat belt. She quickly got her self together, apologized for her actions and as Captain GQ Bollinger would say was warned and admonished.
0910- Directions provided to motorist in search of Courthouse.
0915- Stopped by residence in reference to the recent burglary/distraction. She stated she went shopping in between 12-1300 hours and left her elderly husband at home. He stated he was sitting out on the front porch when an unknown W/M approached him asking about the roof and walked into the back yard without his permission, due to his age he was unable to follow. As the W/M walked around back he obviously saw that he was still sitting up front, this is when the W/M entered the unlocked rear door and quickly made his way to the bedroom taking the jewelry. The unknown W/M left in a hurry west on Ponce in a white Ford pickup.
