0800 Began and completed out of town checks. All appear to be secure.
0930 Patrolled Isles and LYC.
1000 Patrolled Rio mainland which included foot patrol of parks. No unusual activity to report.
1030 Patrolled business district along Federal Hwy.
1045 Assisted patrol with a domestic disturbance on S. Federal
1110 Final patrols all areas.
1800 Patrols. I checked the Yacht Club.
2015 Large event on SE 9 Isle. Checked the large number of cars parked on the street.
2145 A suspicious male approached the trunk of my vehicle at SE 7 St/Federal Hwy. and began pulling on it attempting to open it. As I exited, he ripped open the bolted shut privacy fence to the rear of Workscapes and began pulling on the doors. I ordered him to the ground, and he stated he was looking for water in my trunk. Although he was 6’4, 270#, he was compliant and appeared disoriented. I transported him to BGH for Baker act #13-094980. I left a message for Workscapes advising.

1200 I responded to residence in reference an audible alarm. Open door was located to the rear checked residence and the owner showed and stated the air unit must have blown open a half closed door. He blamed the maid. All appeared in order here.
1330 Completed vacation checks
1800 Random patrols through neighborhood
1940 Removed fishermen from private dock. They moved from the area without incident.
2100 Continuing patrols. Checked Yacht club

1615 Thunderstorms arriving in area, raining heavily
1725 All vacation homes on the mainland checked secure.
1800 Dispatched to a residential alarm. I arrived as the alarm company was canceling. The property checked secure.
1815 Received call on detail phone from resident desiring to report some stolen items from his yard. I checked the membership list and confirmed he was not a security patrol member. I advised him of the non-emergency telephone number to FLPD to make his report and also advised him how to become a security member as well.
1825 Flagged down by resident who wanted to advise me that his brand new Mecerdes-Benz AMG had all of its rims and tires stolen overnight while parked in his driveway. Patrol had already taken a report but he wanted us to know.
1835 I located an unsecured rear door during vacation check. I made contact with resident who advised his secretary must have forgotten to lock up following the termite treatment today. All appeared to be secure, I exited through another door after securing the rear door. There was no alarm activation.
1930 All others homes on the isles checked secure.
2000 Checked the school, church properties and businesses along Federal Hwy.
2100 Final patrols of the area, still raining

1525 Call on detail phone from resident who requested info regarding parking
on the swale and trucks blocking her driveway. I provided her the pertinent info and she
advised she had exchanged words with the tree-trimmer when she asked him to move his
truck, and he was still present. I responded and contacted the tree trimmers.
Of course he did nothing wrong, but he was parked in a manner that obstructed the road,
forcing vehicles of the road at the park. Due to the condition he was directed go move
the truck, but not without being difficult. He was told that this was his warning, he would
be cited in the future. MI 13-96033
1650 Traffic stop at NRV & SE 5 CT reference running stop sign. Warning given.
1800 Tree trimming tree blocking the intersection of SE 8 St & SE 11 Ave. The truck and
shredding trailer totally obliterated all angles of oncoming traffic. Contact made with the
subjects who have cones on the truck, apparently did not want to deploy
them. I explained that even if they had deployed the cones, they could not be located
on the corner in the manner they were.

0330 Neighborhood nice and quiet. No traffic. All appears secure.
0430 Began vacation home check.
0530 All secure. No issues found. All homes on land side checked and found secure.10-7.

0945 Began patrol and checks of vacation homes.
1030 All homes on the mainland checked secure
1115 Removed a delivery of flowers and packages from the front door area of (vacation home) to the rear of the property. The listed emergency contact person was telephoned as the flowers were no doing so well in all of this heat.
1135 All homes on the isles checked secure
1200 Washed and fueled the patrol car.
1245 Assistance given to lost motorist seeking Sunrise Blvd. She could not find her way out of Rio Vista.
1310 I stopped by residence and spoke to the new homeowner. She advised me the family is here full time now so the drive by checks may be discontinued. I did give her our business card. I explained the security patrol to her and advised her the membership for her home was good until the end of the year.

1425 Fisherman on SE 7 St. Bridge without license, warned and sent on way.
450 Traffic stop at 9 Ave & SRV. Rio Vista resident disobeyed stop sign. She was warned and admonished.
1540 Illegally parked fisherman on SE 10 St moved his vehicle. He had a valid license.
1608 Above fisherman back at SE 7 St Bridge, with his new license.
1620 Traffic stop NRV & SE 6 St. Rio Vista resident disobey stop sign. Another driver warned and admonished.
1642 This area must be nationally known for its fishing. Contact was made with a N. Carolina male fishing at private dock 11 St. & Cordova. No license, warned & sent on way.
1700 Corridors, parks and neighborhood all secure, 10-7.
2330 Patrolled Isles and US1 corridor.
0000 Made contact with fishermen on SE 10 St Isle and advised them to keep area clean.
0030 Routine patrol throughout neighborhood.
0100 Conducted surveillance on SE 5 Ct in unmarked, no action.

1215 I entered into a discussion with a local resident (Sailboat Bend) exiting the church from Sunday services. This subject desired to establish a police sponsored neighborhood security program similar to the Q35 detail. I informed him of the many aspects involved in this type of program and who he could contact for further information at FLPD.
1230 Began patrols and checks of vacation homes
1330 All homes on the Isles checked secure.
1415 All homes on the mainland checked secure.
1500 Final patrols of the area.

530 Called by a patrol unit who advised that vehicle had their rims stolen the previous night. Because of this report and other recent report of the same during midnight hours, I coordinated surveillance covering the entries and exits of Rio Vista with the patrol unit when calls would allow for them.
Using unmarked vehicles to look for suspicious persons and vehicles, I stopped A suspicious vehicle finding that it was the security guard for the marina going home.
I stopped a taxi that was picking up a resident. No other vehicular traffic or suspicious activity found.
0530 Began the vacation checks.
0645 All vacation houses were secure.
1705 Traffic stop on resident for 40 mph/25 and running a stop sign. He was very apologetic stating he just wasn’t paying attention. As I was speaking with him, another neighbor came up and chastised him for his black dog getting out of the house. A warning was given.
1715 Responded to silent hold up alarm at residence. I arrived in 60 seconds of dispatch. Homeowner advised accidental by 3 years old. MI completed.
1900 Received call from resident who advised that the girlfriend of the youth I NTA’d for marijuana and spoke to about harassing them drove by and gave them the finger. She lives on SE 10 isle and drives a red VW with tinted windows. Advised I would keep an eye out.
1930 Responded to a call of a hit/run just occurred in 1500 blk of Ponce. Circulated and recalled by reporter who found the culprit vehicle in 1300 block of Ponce. The female driver was still attempting to drive away with no front tire. She was highly intoxicated. She totaled the parked vehicle that she hit on Ponce. BSO’s DUI unit responded, and she was taken into custody.

1330 Completed mainland, isles and LYC checks, all secure with the exception of the ones who had workers on the property.
1415 Responded to alarm at a residence, all secure. On the way I saw a suspicious W/M walking on the property for sale at SE 9 Ave and S.Rio Vista. Patrol went to find him while I checked the alarm. They couldn’t find him.
I went back to the area and couldn’t find him either. He is described as a W/M, blue shirt, green army duffle bag (large), about 230 lbs, 6’00”, short buzz haircut, sandy-blond. He was riding a bike earlier.
1545 Began patrols and checks of remaining vacation homes.
1630 All remaining vacation homes checked secure from previous shift.
1700 Checked the area of SE 9 Ave and S. Rio Vista for suspicious person as described in Sgt. Williams report above. I spoke to several residents but no additional sightings or information was obtained. Continued BOLO is suggested.
1800 Patrolled the mainland areas of Rio Vista and parks
1900 Patrolled the isles, Cordova Road and the Yacht Club.
2000 Continued checks for suspicious person seen by Sgt. Williams today.
2030 Staged detail car in 1000 block of SE 6 Street and walked back to my car

1423 Audible alarm at a residence. Apparently all secure, malfunction.
1447 Took a package from the front door at vacation home and placed it on rear patio table.
1510 Out of town checks completed and apparently secure.
1532 Unlicensed & illegally parked fisherman on SE 10 St warned and was sent on way. He
was more than happy to clean up his mess.
1700 Corridors, Parks and neighborhood secure. 10-7
2245- 10-8. Received message from homeowner (2130 hrs) in reference to his neighbors garage being open although the neighbor had not moved in. Checked homes and did not observe any open garage doors.
2330- Routine patrol throughout neighborhood.
0000- Patrolled isles and made contact with fisherman on SE 10 St. I advised them to keep area clean and they just decided to leave.
0030- Checked Yacht Club and US1 corridor. Gave warning to individual for driving to fast.
0100- Patrolled entire neighborhood, all quiet.
0130- Patrolled isles again.
