0510- Reviewed activity log.
0515- Patrolled businesses along Federal Hwy. Removed S-86 type w/m from bench 7St. and Federal. Also observed and made contact with a B/M sitting in a car at 614 south Federal. He was waiting for a Rio Vista client and had arrived in the area early, all 10-4.
0540- Phone now has life, no new messages.
0610- Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0650- Patrolled school bus stops.
0715- Patrolled alley way along side of cemetery. No unusual activity to report.
0730- Traffic enforcement 9 Ave/11 Ct. 1 verbal provided to worker.
0745- Final patrols all areas.
1501 Dispatched in reference to a suspicious vehicle that had been in the area nearly two hours prior (call had been holding in dispatch) The vehicle was described as a old beat up white van bearing Florida plate occupied by a B/M 5’06 130 pounds.
It appeared to the caller the subject was possibly casing out the new construction site and was paying special attention to the building materials in front of the site. I did check the area despite the long delay in dispatching, nothing was located. MI Card #13-048661
Should any further suspicious activity or persons be found at this location the builder can be contacted
1530 Resumed patrols and checks of vacation homes.
1600 I overheard an audible residential alarm. Upon arrival I was unable to locate it and no dispatches were made to this area.
1615 All vacation homes checked secure on re-check.
1630 Dispatched to a residential alarm. Upon arrival I was met at the front door with two juvenile residents who advised they had failed to shut off the alarm in time to prevent activation. All was secure.
1745 Checked a B/M fisherman at the end of SE 10 Street, all was secure.
1830 Checked all parks
2000 Foot patrols in the area of the businesses along Federal Hwy.

2040 Responded to call for person sleeping behind house in alleyway. Found known vagrant intoxicated again. Contacted her son and left him a message at her request. Sent her back toward US-1

1830 Stopped 2 subjects on moped for one way violation. They were headed to the park to play soccer. Warning issued.
2035 Responded to call where caller could not control 15yo daughter. I advised of different options and a MI card was completed.

1700 10-8 Called in and spoke to Carol/No messages on detail phone
1715 Rain has been falling in excessive amounts for hours. All low lying areas and streets are heavily flooded and nearly impassable in some areas.
1720 Dispatched to Hector Park in reference to an elderly female driver of a Mini-Cooper that had driven the wrong way on SE 11 Street and a school bus that was stopped in the roadway due to flooded street. The elderly driver refused to back up her car or move her car for fear of flooding it out and the bus driver refused to back to due to her employer’s policy of unsafe backing practices.
I provided a few minutes of intellectual reasoning with the elderly lady and the bus driver a compromise was reached which prevented the world from coming off of it’s axis. Both vehicles were able to safely pass without incident despite the driver’s best efforts to prevent it from happening.
1745 Dispatched to assist patrol officers with a complaint of a concrete sludge which had washed from a construction site next door into the driveway and garage of the his property. The complainant advised this is the third time this type of problem had arisen during the construction project and he had been advised by code enforcement nothing could be done without a police report. Today he wanted to file a report.
1815 The rain continues to fall heavily. Two vehicles are reported to be stranded in the Federal Highway tunnel briefly closing US 1 to all traffic while wreckers worked to pull them way. Thank goodness the tide is falling now.
1940 I removed an abundance of tree branches, floating trash containers, a few Tarpon and a stranded Manatee from 1000-1300 block of Ponce De Leon. The water levels are finally receding leaving a mess behind however; Ponce De Leon is still a certified “No Wake Zone.”
2000 The rain has finally stopped!!
2005 Disregard my last transmission, the cats and dogs have quickly returned.
2100 All is quiet, very wet but quiet.
2145 Checked the parks and businesses along Federal Hwy.
2225 Completed walk around of construction home. All was secure but I did notice that one of the pallets of pavers had been opened and several were missing. I contacted the contract who did advise the pavers had been used on sire today and he believed there was nothing to be concerned about.
2240 Final patrols, our newly formed canals are beginning to resemble streets again.

1445- Responded to S Federal reference to 911 hang up. All was secure, phone problems.
1515- Patrolled Isles and LYC.
1535- Patrolled Rio mainland and parks.
2030 Patrols through area. Not much activity. Spoke with Steve Hudson when he drove through 9 St/Federal Hwy.
2200 Checked businesses along Federal Hwy., I continued patrolling through area.

1215 Routine patrol, all quiet.
1230 Patrolled isles, all quiet.
1300 Received phone call from resident who advised that there was a white male laying face down in the Workscapes parking lot at SE 7 St and Federal Hwy. Contact was made with subject who was sleeping (vagrant). Newby was advised to leave the area at which time he complied and left. MI card completed 13-50582.
1420 Routine patrol, quiet
1453 Removed two black males who were fishing on the 11 St Bridge and advised them to leave the area. They complied.
1515 Routine patrol, very quiet
1545 Assisted resident with looking for her dog.
1615 All vacation checks completed.
1630 Patrolled businesses along Federal, busy but no issues.
1715- Patrolled rear of businesses along Federal Hwy. in search of Mr. Newby (above mentioned) no sighting.
1740- Patrolled bridges, no fisherman present.
1800- Traffic enforcement 9 Ave/11 Ct. After twenty minutes, I observed no violators.
1910- Patrolled parks, in which were crowded due nice weather.
1930- Spent most of the evening providing directions to motorists looking for Las Olas.
2010- Removed S-86 type W/M sleeping on bench 7/fed.
2035- Patrolled Rio Vista mainland.

0020 – Call from detail phone reference a loud party. Contact made and party shut down.
0045 – Patrol Isles, Cordova, and LYC.
0145 – Patrol mainland, area parks, and 11th Ct. alley way.
0255 – Bail out with patrol unit at SE 9th St and 9th Ave. Suspect fled and upon seeing parked detail car went to ground on 8th St. K9 located and we took suspect into custody at 721 SE 8th Street. Items found in vehicle indicate possible burglary subject in the area. Unknown if other possible subjects in the area prior to suspect bailout, detail patrol extended to keep watch and continue patrols. Case #13-50874.
0445 – Check vacation houses during general patrols.
0545 – House checks secure, Check federal business district.

1840 Stopped and chatted with several residents out near Hector Park. I passed out several stickers

1950 Call from resident of suspicious car parked across from house. Resident pointed it out as suspicious as it drove away. I stopped the car for license plate cover. Driver refused search, contacted narcotics K-9. After his friends mother showed up to be roadside attorney, driver cited for possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

1530 10-8 Called in detail and spoke to Carol/(2) messages on detail phone
1 – Complaint of very rude construction worker at SE 11 Street and Cordova Road who had the roadway blocked closed with his vehicles and refused to move them for the caller and others who needed to pass through the area. The caller refused to make a report but requested we check the area from time to time for this problem.
1600 Began patrols and checks of vacation homes.
1650 I removed a semi-tractor and trailer parked in the middle of Ponce De Leon delivering building supplies totaling blocking the roadway. The driver was advised to clear open the roadway or park in the cul-de-sac and transport the delivery items via the forklift. The situation was resolved immediately.
1740 All vacation homes checked secure.
1800 Checked the Yacht Club area.
1900 Patrolled the Isles and the Cordova Road area.
1950 I removed two young W/M skateboarders from the roadway at SE 11 Ave and SE 9 Street. The pair had ramps set up in the street and they were jumping across them. I asked them to move to the sidewalk to present a traffic problem. The boys complied without incident.
2000 Patrolled entrances to Rio Vista and the businesses along Federal Hwy.
2020 I removed 2 intoxicated homeless type W/M’s from parking lot at market on SE 7 Street.

1450 Began out of town checks.
1506 Out of town checks complete and apparently secure.
1542 Traffic stop Se 9 St & Cordova regarding stop sign. Rio resident asked if I was stopping her because of the stop sign. She should have been paying that much attention at the intersection. She was warned and admonished.
1713 Call on detail phone advising a suspicious male was walking E/B, passing her residence. I responded and contacted the male who was lost/20. I offered a ride to BGH which he accepted. 13-52789.
1745 Call on detail phone from resident regarding the theft of his portable generator which was last seen this past Monday. He noticed it missing Wednesday, did not report it at that time as he was not sure if he wanted to. Report prepared for a grand larceny of a Honda generator, black & red in color, on 2 wheels, unknown serial number and he does not wish to prosecute. 13-52798.

1715 Traffic stop on vehicle for violating a traffic control device on Federal. Driver DWLS and had narcotics paraphernalia. Contact made with w/f passenger who advised he hired her to use her car to visit banks. Check of car revealed numerous fraudulent business checks and credit cards. Off the clock to handle arrest and subsequent interviews. Driver arrested.
2200 10-8, back in Rio.
2300 Completed drive by vacation checks
2320 Flagged down by Rio Vista Community Church groundskeeper who advised that he set off alarm accidentally. Cancelled the alarm call.
