1030 still patrolling
1124 Call about a trapped pelican from SE 8th Street. The pelican had a double hook caught in the chest area. With the help of Nautical 13 grabbed the pelican, unhooked him, took a picture and released him. He was a happy dude.
1230 Completed vacation checks and all appeared secure.
1900 Continuing patrols. Constant rain.
2100 Checked Yacht Club, checked parks, continuing patrols.
2220 Responded to alarm. In law set off alarm accidentally. MI completed.

1105 Found rear door to residence unsecure. Checked the house all appeared in order. Locked the house and spoke to the neighbor who will check it later as well. I also left a message for the phone number given.
1200 Rescued a turtle crossing 11 Court. WARNING: Turtle will pee in large amounts on you if nervous. This turtle was very nervous. He wet my entire leg. Yuck!!!!
1300 All vacation checks complete and all appeared secure.
1600 Began patrols and re-checks of vacation homes.
1640 All vacation homes were found secure on re-check.
1810 Handled a parking problem at Virginia Young Park (landscaping truck blocking street)
1855 Checked all of the parks
1930 Patrolled the Isles and the Yacht Club.
1945 I checked a vehicle parked at the end of SE 10 Street Isle. Initially I could not locate anyone around the vehicle but soon a salesman walked up from AT&T. The salesman actually had a city permit to do so, which is extremely rare. I did advise him that he should not park in this area as indicated by the posted signs. He left the area without incident stating his day was completed at this time and apologized for the inconvenience.
2030 Checked the businesses along Federal Hwy.

1527 Out of town checks and apparently secure.
1533 Traffic stop, one way violation 1200 block SE 9 Ave.
1640 Traffic stop 8 St & 9 Ave, stop sign violation. A new Rio Vista resident was warned & admonished and explained the officers presence in the neighborhood & security detail.
1715 Contact made with B/M walking east on SE 10 St, pulling a city of Oakland Park
recycling bin (on wheels). Contact made and the enterprising gentleman was delivering
phone books, using his assigned bin to tote them along. He lives in Oakland Park.
He had the proper paperwork.
1720 Began extra patrol on Ponce cul-de-sac.
1929 Detail phone received an apparent butt-dial. I could hear a conversation between a male
and female. I called back and spoke with each party and all was fine.
2000 Corridors, parks and neighborhood secure. 10-7.

0520- Early morning sweep of bridges proved no fisherman.
0540- Property check of businesses along Federal Hwy.
0600- Contact made with resident who was seeking Salvation Army.
0620- Patrolled Rio Vista mainland. No unusual activity to report.
0640- Patrolled school bus stops to ensure children boarded safely.
0710- Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0735- Patrolled Isles, no unusual activity to report.
1545 - Began patrols and re-checks of vacation homes
1700 – All vacation homes checked secure
1920 – Checked all of the parks
2005 – Met with resident on SE 7 Street on a security issue.
2130 – Staged patrol car at SE 9 Ave/SE 11 Ct.
2200 – Foot patrol back to my car on 9 Isle.

1632- Dispatched to 11ct. in reference to a B/F going door to door selling items. Upon my arrival contact was made. She did not have a permit and left the area without incident. MI Card.
1700- Began out of town checks as severe storms were about to roll in.
1700- Upon checking residence, I located an open door to the rear. After quietly observing for a few minutes I observed a W/F inside. Contact was made with homeowner all 10-4. Resident will be departing in the near future and will call. Homeowner was thankful for the checks.
1740- House checks complete, all appear to be secure.
1800- Patrolled Isles and LYC. Large crowds gathering at LYC for event. I will continue to patrol through out tour.
1820- Patrolled Rio mainland including parks and to the rear of businesses. No unusual activity to report.
1850- Traffic enforcement 9 Ave/11 Ct. two verbal warnings provided to Rio residents.
1920- Directions provided to New Jersey couple seeking “The Down Towner”.
1920- Since weather cleared and I had my bike with me from air show I completed a few quick laps around Rio before sundown.
2000- Final vehicle patrol all areas.

0510- Early morning sweep to the rear of businesses along Federal Highway parks and bridges proved no unusual activity.
0540- Patrolled Isles and LYC.
0610- Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0630- Patrolled school bus stops to ensure children boarded safely.
0645- Flagged down by passing motorist in reference to a car illegally parked 9Ave. I made contact with fisherman who had a permit and was glad to park his vehicle lawfully.
0710- Patrolled Rio Vista mainland
0715- Most morning joggers retreated to their residences due to the bad weather moving in. All quiet.
0740- Final patrol of all areas.
1545 Began patrols and re-checks of vacation homes (light rain)
1600 Received call from resident in reference to their housekeeper’s vehicle had been burglarized while parked in the street in front of their home between the hours of 1400 – 1530. In summary the passenger side window was smashed to gain access to the purse which was setting on the passenger seat. The loss was a black Nine West purse, a small flowery wallet, 3 credit cards, 3 store charge cards, a debit card and the victim’s family social security cards, victim driver’s license, $140 in cash and two un-cashed personal checks.
No latent prints were obtained; it does not appear the perpetrator actually touched the vehicle other than to break the passenger window out. No witnesses were located and no video appeared to be available. Report taken #13-04850

1245 Still patrolling
1325 Responding to resident ref. son was released from his baker act facility to go to another and decided not to go. He is not court ordered to be at the facility. He was not 97 but Mom stated she would take him back as soon as he returns. I gave her the info for BSO baker act and told her to call them for further guidance.
1700 Traffic stop on vehicle for violating one way. The driver was lost looking for restaurant.
1800 Completed vacation checks
1830 Responded to garage for a nail in the tire. Tire replaced.
2012 Responded to call of a stabbing at the Yacht Club. I arrived within 60 seconds. Homeless type female said she had a scratch on her foot and wanted a ride back home. No stabbing. Apparently she took the valets phone to call 911. She was sent from the area with a trespass warning. MI completed.
2200 Traffic stop on vehicle for one way violation. Local resident. Warning given.
2300 Checked Yacht Club parking areas

1900 Resident called at 0915 this morning complaining of construction parking and loud jack hammering noises in her area. I returned her call explaining no officer was on duty when she had called but we would attempt to help her when we were present if she had a complaint or she could call police station and request an officer as well.

2215 I removed four young men that were playing soccer in Virginia Young Park. These subjects were very loud, boisterous and were advised of the park hours. All left without incident and apologized about their noises..

1737 Flagged down by motorist looking for a Doctor’s office. I assured him it
was likely he was looking for SE 17 St. He was provided directions. He did not return, so I’m guessing my hunch was correct.

0510- An early morning sweep to the rear of all businesses along S federal hwy proved no unusual activity.
0615- Began and completed out of town checks, all appear to be secure.
0645- Patrolled school bus stops.
0710- Patrolled Isles and LYC.
0735- Patrolled mainland and parks.
1615 Traffic stop on vehicle for violating one way. A warning was given.
1655 Responded to alarm. Front door unlocked. Searched house, all looked OK. Appeared dog bumped open garage door. Secured house and exited through garage.
1730 Traffic stop on vehicle for violating one way, it was a New River Pizza driver. A warning was given.
1920 Flagged down by resident who stated that her dog was bit a week ago and that a pit bull was being walked without a leash. Advised on animal control for bite, she advised she did not want to contact them because she didn’t want the animal euthanized. I advised I would make contact with the pit bull owner. I met with owner in the park and advised on leash law. He stated that although he had the dog on an electronic leash, he would comply.
2000 Call of a unknown male in resident’s car. I contacted the reporter who stated that an elderly black male popped up in his backseat as he drove away. I contacted subject down the block who only spoke Creole. It appeared he was confused, nothing was taken from car and owner did not want to prosecute. The subject was taken to Broward General for chest pains by Fire Department.
