The Protect Rio Vista program utilizes your subscription funds to hire off-duty Fort Lauderdale police officers to patrol in the neighborhood.  The officers are in uniform when on duty and have full authority to take official action action should a crime take place while on patrol.  The officers patrol in a marked car leased by the civic association and will be dispatched by FLPD for any 911 call recieved from the neighborhood.  Members also recieve a cell phone number by which they may contact the patrol officers directly while they are on duty.  Members also recieve the opportunity to request a vacation check of their home when they are out of town.

1950    I removed to loitering B/M youths from the parking lot of the convenience store at SE 7 Street and Federal Hwy where they had been for over an hour. They had just bonded out of jail and were awaiting a ride home. They were asked to wait elsewhere and did so without incident, a call to their mother assisted in directions where she could locate them and they were driven away within minutes.

2005    Traffic stop was made on a resident entering Rio Vista in a black 2012 Audi from SE 7 Street crossing Federal Hwy. at a very high speed. We had a long conversation in his driveway at over the incident. The subject’s license checked valid, a warning was issued with a promise from the driver this type of indiscretion would never happen again.

Pick up child from mother-in-law. She was warned and admonished.

Mitt Romney campaign sign. Contact made, neither child lived there or knew who the

resident is. Child advised they found the signs in bushes, believing

the wind must have blown them from their anchors. Says he knew this particular

house had a sign on the lawn and he was looking to replace it. I called his mother, and advised her of what was occurring. She agreed with my

recommendation that the children return home.

1830   Corridors, parks, LYC and neighborhood soaked and secure. It is a good thing Lee did not

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on charges of being a habitual traffic offender and driving while suspended. The golf cart was driven by underage boy and was occupied by his five best buddies. He was driving very fast and zig-zagging back and forth across the roadway attempting txo throw off the occupants (maybe they really weren’t his best buddies on second thought). Father was summonsed to come and get his golf cart and thrill seeking son before a tragedy arose. All was resolved upon arrival of the father much to the dismay of the not so “wild hogs” fun pack party of six.

2200    Patrolled the pumpkin patch again. It appears the numerous rains this evening have closed down the business. I am watching for pumpkin thieves at this point.
