1625 Began patrols and vacation home checks.
1740 Received a call on the detail line from a resident in the area desiring to advise neighborhood patrol officers of several small areas of graffiti that has been surfacing in the general neighborhood over the past month. Upon arrival I gave the resident the Ft. Lauderdale Graffiti Hotline telephone number (954-828-6402) should they observe any further areas or wish to make a formal report in the future.
The lettering KEM! and KANE was observed sprayed and written in black colored paint on two residential walls, a fence and an electrical service box since early August of 2012. I also observed the same spraying walls of residences in the 1200 block of SE 8 Street, near the intersection of SE 6 Street/SE 9 Ave and at Ponce De Leon and SE 9 Street. It appears to be a problem on the rise throughout the entire neighborhood.
1830 I checked on the welfare of a W/F with her head deeply bowed, sitting on the wall over looking the river in Stranahan Landing Park. A bit concerned that she may be suicidal when she refused to answer to my voice calling to her, I exited the car to speak to her.
I could then hear that she was listening to a head set radio which had been concealed from my view by her long hair. The electronic gadgetry was producing very loud music and she could not have heard me calling. Once I did obtain her attention (which was done very carefully as not to now startle her and send her falling into the river) she stated she was quite fine and was just enjoying the beautiful view of the river. I encouraged her to find a safer point in which to visually stimulate her senses, especially if she was going to render herself deaf while sitting there.
She agreed and was happily transitioned to a less precarious location.
2005 Dispatched to residence in reference to a welfare check. Sister became concerned after he had been arguing with her on the phone earlier today before stating I love you and I am done and hanging up. He was found to be in good condition and stated he just wanted to get off of the phone with his sister and nothing more. MI CARD 12-101862
