Welcome to Rio Vista!
On behalf of the Rio Vista Civic Association Board we would like to welcome you to our neighborhood and invite you to join RVCA today!
What is the Rio Vista Civic Association?
The Rio Vista Civic Association (RVCA) is a volunteer organization led by a diverse board elected representatives who live in the neighborhood. The RVCA was created to preserve the value and desirability of Rio Vista. We also strive to enrich the quality of life in Rio Vista through community projects, advocacy, and representation of our neighborhood to City Officials.
Does RVCA host neighborhood events?
Each year we host a handful of social events for our neighborhood, typically in the cooler months. All residents are welcome to join in the fun and/or volunteer. Annually we host the following: Holiday Party at VY Park, Boat Watching Parade, Movie Nights and Camp outs at VY Park, Golf Cart Parades, and an Annual Car Show. We also coordinate neighborhood participation in City-wide volunteer days such as Fort Lauderdale United Day and Fort Lauderdale Cares Day.
I see “Protect Rio Vista” signs and License Plate Reader Cameras in the neighborhood are those from RVCA?
Yes, the RVCA Security Committee has established and organizes a program where FLPD detail officers are hired to work approximately 8 hours everyday in our neighborhood. Click here to get your sign and the on duty officer cell phone. The Committee also took all actions needed to facilitate purchase, install, maintenance of license plate reader cameras in Rio Vista which are monitored 24/7 by FLPD.
What has RVCA accomplished?
Parks Prior to December 2019 RVCA lead the effort of collaboration between the City and residents to upgrade our playground from mulch and wood equipment to one with turf, modern structures, a water fountain, and electricity. Subsequent to December 2019 the RVCA Board of Directors worked hard to ensure an active resident role in the rebuilds and redesigns of both Hector and VY Parks. We actively monitor all parks in the neighborhood to ensure proper maintenance, landscape and maximum benefits.
Transportation & Mobility RVCA works with the City on various transportation matters during monthly sessions. These monthly sessions have resulted in: traffic studies, improved crossings, curbs, solar radar signs, CIP requests for future improvements, traffic enforcement, repairs and more.
Neighborhood Preservation The RVCA Board of Directors works hard to stay informed on potential developments, code changes, etc. which could have a long term impact on our neighborhood. Whenever feasible the RVCA Board of Directors strives to memorialize and convey feedback to the appropriate parties and facilitate neighborhood votes on matters while meeting bylaw requirements.
